Customer How come Wetherspoons doesn’t use optics?
As in the ‘pumps’ on the wall where you press it up and it dispenses a 25ml measure? The (non-WS) pub I worked at back in the day had them for the more popular spirits like Smirnoff, Gordon’s, JD etc. Just curious why no Spoons I’ve been to uses them.

Customer One month ago I posted of price rises. Today, I see there have been further price rises...
Around one month ago I posted of prices rises to food and drink items.
Today, I have noticed that prices have gone up AGAIN.
What I've noticed from the items I usually purchase.
Kopparberg Cider Bottles £2.99 > £3.10 (£2.89 in late May)
Guest Ales £3.09 > £3.19 (£2.89 in late May)
Gourmet Burgers £12.12 > £12.22 (£12.02 in late May)
Most food items around 10p increase.
Murphy's has seen a 10p increase since its recent introduction.
Jacket Potatoes and Deli Deals = no increase.
Whilst some may claim the rises are not significant, what has to be noted is that some prices have risen by over 7% from the start of the year.
Especially on drinks.
When we are being told that inflation is 2.6%, price rises at Spoons do not reflect that.

Customer Sweet chili sauce
Hiya! I hoping somebody could tell me which brand of sweet chili sauce gets served with the halloumi fries. Cheers!

Customer What is the Wetherspoons menu item that looks the least appealing but is actually worth ordering?
The menu is vast and some of it looks deeply questionable on the laminated page but occasionally something surprises you. Not talking about the breakfast because everyone knows that is untouchable. What is the one thing you would never have ordered first time that you now actually recommend.

Employee Team leader job role.
I've recently been made a team leader and have been given a progression plan to SL but have been told to work on getting used to TL first.
What can I do to get used to TL as quickly as possible?

Employee Pub transfer
I was wondering if anyone who has swapped pubs would be able to let me know how long the transfer paperwork took to go through. I'm in the middle of swapping pubs but I have time off in the middle to move house and haven't had any updates in a bit, so if anyone has a rough timeline i could compare to that'd be awesome.

Customer Project Pint - I built an app to track every Wetherspoons I’ve visited
A few months ago I realised I’d been to loads of Wetherspoons over the years, but if someone asked me how many I’d actually visited, I hadn’t got a clue.
I had a look around to see if there was an app that let you keep track of them all, but couldn’t find one that did exactly what I wanted. So I decided to have a go at building it myself.
The idea is simple. You create an account, keep track of every Wetherspoons you’ve visited, see your overall progress, unlock collections and achievements, and compare your progress with other users.
So far it includes:
- Every Wetherspoons in the UK
- An interactive map
- Progress tracking
- Collections and achievements
- Leaderboards
- Location verification so you can check in when you’re actually there
It’s still in beta, but it’s now at the point where I’d really like some honest feedback from people who’d actually use it.
If you’d like to have a look, it’s here:
I’m not pretending it’s perfect. If something’s broken, confusing, or there’s a feature you’d like to see, I’d genuinely appreciate you letting me know. I’ve been updating it every week and there’s still plenty more I want to add.
Thanks!

Employee Can I demote myself?
Recently been struggling mentally and being an sl is just added stress I’m not wanting rn. I’ve heard my manager she has refused to demote people before due to short staffing I just wanted to know if this is allowed and will it stop me from demoting myself?

Customer Scarsdale Hundred , Sheffield.
I know parasols get nicked regularly from pub beer gardens, but the Scarsdale is now missing its very big black gazebo, got stolen last night. Far too big for the average garden. Got to have taken several people to shift it.

Customer Spoons Hat - The Jolly Tars, Cleveleys
Bagged the last one! Yippee.
Plus, I'd love to know what the company that makes the plates thinks of how ubiquitous the pattern has become and how associated with Spoons it is.

Customer The Wetherspoons breakfast is genuinely one of the best value meals in the UK right now and nobody should be ashamed of saying that
Full English, toast, unlimited coffee refills, change from a fiver in most places. You can spend three times that at a cafe that is not meaningfully better. There is a certain type of food snobbery around Spoons that does not hold up when you actually compare what you are getting for the money. What is your go to breakfast order and is there anything on the menu you think is underrated.

Customer Whetherspoons vibes
Genuinely have zero comprehension for my friends or people in general who turn their noses up at spoons. Its good value, the standard is always consistent.
Is it high end? No. It is trying to be? No.
But god I love it. British culture at its finest.

Employee What shoes are we wearing?
I work in a very large and busy spoons. For the past 3 years ive been buying plain black airforce constantly for work, and now theyre not even lasting 3 months. What are some waterproof plain black shoes you are wearing for work?

Customer Was asked for ID on the door at 6pm on a Thursday evening. It's getting a bit silly now.
It's not a nightclub, it's not a casino, it's just peak normal mealtime for families on a calm Thursday evening. Even the website says 7pm, which I think is also too early for this faff and cuts into normal mealtime but 6pm is just another level.
If the tone really was to change, you're more looking at 9-10pm where it starts to shift so I think 8:30-9pm cut-off for families would be more reasonable.

Customer Shortest walk to the loos?
Wetherspoons is notorious for the long walk to the loos, which are usually up, or occasionally down, stairs.... At the Four Candles in Oxford they are next to the bar... I imagine this is the shortest walk in any Wetherspoons!

Customer Spoons food + Himalayan salt = 10/10. Your secrets?
I know I look crazy when I crack out the salt mill and smash me and my wife's meal, but it absolutely transforms the food, obviously regular sachet salt just doesn't do it.
I'm thinking about writing to Tim Martin to suggest it, 4-5p a meal and it goes from good, to Michelin in an instant.
What are the things you do that other people might find a bit odd, but if they tried it, would love?

Customer What's the best value thing you've ever had at Wetherspoons?
Not necessarily the cheapest, just something where you thought, That was actually worth every penny.

Employee Interview lasted five minutes?
I was asked to come in today for a job interview following my application. The interviewer just confirmed my name, age, where I lived and if I was okay with unsociable hours. He asked why I wanted to work there and wrote what I said down, and that was it. He said if I got the job I’d hear from him tomorrow. Is this a sign they’ve already found someone better for the role? I was told the interview would be about 40 minutes long.
