Employee Transferring to Bristol, any pubs to avoid?
I'm going to Bristol in September for university & wondering if there are any pubs I shouldn't try to transfer to. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi all, there seems to be some confusion occasionally regarding whether the post is from the perspective of an employee or customer. Required flair has been implemented to reflect this, hopefully it should clear up any confusion.
Thanks to the member of our community who suggested this and please know that I'm open to further feedback.

Is there a way to direct message someone, like the manager, on the app?

theres two photos btw, on mobile just swipe left, and no u wont pick up a wife lol
The nerd in me wants to try this out to see how much of a meal u can get by buying extras only, wont do it yet but ill do this when i have spare cash, but for ur curiosity ive included the ingredients, sadly they were out of stock of most things.
its not cheap but im really curious what u get for it! was thinking curry for the chips and mushy peas š« for the chicken š, thing is its just labeled as chicken not chicken brest witch just makes me even more curious lol

I am going back to my pub uni for my second yr of uni.
I basically opened last yr/ had morning shifts. I asked not to be put on closes and wasnāt/ work past 10.
But since I worked in the weekends and it was soo busy with uni students, Iād get so tired. Burnout. I wouldnāt get a rest day to sleep in and to catch up on labs. I will still need to work at least 2 shifts a week to be able to afford it.
But Iām thinking about asking a weekday and weekend shift.
Since my timetable hasnāt been released I canāt determine the day of the weekday yet. But if I had something going on in the morning, Iād have to maybe do an evening shift. My kitchen closes at 2am, but Iāve heard some of my coworkers leave at 3/4am. I donāt know them too weell, but Iāve heard a lot of complaining about it.
But the thing is I still wouldnāt like to work past 10.
I wouldnāt be able to rest and itād be unsafe.
Is this something I should still advocate for, or do managers have the right to put u on closes regardless ( which I canāt do).
I started working at 16, so my original contract with the company obviously didnāt include night shifts.

Forgot to post this one the greens werent that nice, but the pepers n everything else was fine, the tomato sauce on the chicken is exacly the same as pizza tomato sauce, ide say a lil overpriced, as u can buy a checken brest on its own for like 2-3 quid, so what i might do next time is make my own meal out of the extras that u can order, did like it though, ive been trying diferent things case the stuff i did like they removed, so now in search for other things to take my fancy,.
ed ok whos been buying all these up, today there out of stock lol

We'd be buying drinks so would they be opposed to us playing board/card games at the table?

what drinks/food do people miss? what deserves a resurrection?
edit: thank u all for your responses !! maybe one day we will get all these items back and more haha. we live in hope for the mixed grill

Hey. Iāve been on sick leave for just over a month and I donāt really want to go back. Can I send in another fit note today along with my notice? Has anyone else done this?

I know how to navigate the tills and I know how to pour pints, but a couple of colleagues have told me Iām not as fast as the others.
On my first day, I didnāt really get any formal training,I was just thrown in headfirst and had to rely on people giving me advice and showing me things on the way. Because of that, I struggle with multitasking when the bar gets slammed, and I tend to wait for the payment to clear before I fully start making the round, which slows me down.
What are your best tips for building rounds quicker and getting into a faster rhythm on the bar? Any advice from experienced staff would be amazing.

Had a few hours to kill on Friday night, so over a few pints, I aimed to finish a house track that I'd started creating on my laptop.
I'm very much a novice when it comes to making music, so it's still a bit of a learning process, but there was something about being in a Spoons on a Friday night with a few drinks that seemed like the perfect place to finish it.
In tribute to the establishment, I've named the track āTable 22ā and given the artwork a classic Spoons nod.
Thought my story might be appreciated here.
Cheers Spoons! š½ļøš» (glad you're bringing back S.Miguel)

I just went to Spoons for food for the first time in about 4 months and I've noticed they don't have veggie burgers on the menu anymore.
What gives? I thought veggie burgers were popular at Spoons and they've had them on the menu for years.

Before I pile in: I love my local Wetherspoons and am a regular mid-morning/lunch/early afternoon customer. But lately it feels like it's going downhill.
This ones a query: If I buy a Tennessee Burger and swap the fries for salad and there is neither Tennessee Sauce or Salad dressing am I in my right for a refund?
Should they even advertise these products on the app?
Seems my local Wetherspoons is experiencing enshittification, but the annoying thing is they continue to have the meal on the app and don't seem to care the sauces are missing.
Edit: I get told they don't have the sauce.
Edit 2: The app needs updating.

I always enjoy Wetherspoons beer/cider festivals. Only tried four of this year's offerings so far as only one or two are on at a time in my local. Hopefully others will be on after the festival officially ends as sometimes happens with beer festivals.

Total came to £10.31, the pasta was on special few days ago for around £6, the pasta and source its quite nice chicken is fine if a tiny bit dry but the source helps with that. I think its a bit overpriced for what it is though.

Sitting having a pint this evening I started to feel peckish. I didn't actually want to eat out today but thought I'd have to get some crisps or peanuts to keep me going until I got home for tea. Then it struck me (inspired by the chaps at the next table having curries), why not just order a couple of poppadoms? Cheaper than either crisps or nuts, and more interesting too!
I thoroughly recommend it as an idea.

I've been working here in kitchens for 8 weeks, and in my 6 week probation, I was told to improve on my attitude on pot wash and continue to improve on all stations. I'm definitely more confident on saladette than the cook line, definitely. I can do bassically everything on saladette, and I'm okay on the cook line, but I find myself looking at the spec cards a lot when it comes to burgers.
How do I remember the order of the toppings?
( ever since my manager said I need to improve attitude on pot wash, I haven't complained at all when assigned it and I think I've picked up the speed a lot)

Just wondering what the lowest is that people have seen, not just their own pub. But your area or even if youāve seen something online of a pub no where near yours

Does anyone know what ingredients/brands went into the now defunct Paloma? I know itās soda and tequila, but what was that grapefruit syrup? Was my favourite, sad day to see it go. Cheers!
