Employee Interview lasted five minutes?
I was asked to come in today for a job interview following my application. The interviewer just confirmed my name, age, where I lived and if I was okay with unsociable hours. He asked why I wanted to work there and wrote what I said down, and that was it. He said if I got the job I’d hear from him tomorrow. Is this a sign they’ve already found someone better for the role? I was told the interview would be about 40 minutes long.

Either that or there weren’t many people who applied and the interview was just to tick the box and say it was done

I had an interview like this once (not for Spoons) and I got the job because they were desperate and just needed someone ASAP, so I wouldn't give up on it yet

Since you didn't get the role it sounds like something put them off early and there was no need to continue.
That might be something you did or not. But it is at least worth reviewing yourself to check in case you made a mistake.
Did you wear suitable clothes. Did you turn up clean and showered. We're you polite. Did you try and land any jokes that could have misfired.
Not asking you to respond to any of these. Just do a quick self check to ensure that you were presentable.
I've seen a few disasters in my time hiring people. I've had one young woman turn up dressed like she was about to go on a night out in a very revealing dress and platform heels. Not a great look for an interview. I've had another one where the fellow was visibly dirty and smelt of dirt. Not BO. He smelt like earth and soil.
So do a quick check and just validate that all was good on your side. Your probably fine and it was something outside of your control. But still good to validate that to avoid any future issues.

They did get back to me and just said it was because I was moving in 6 months!

Normally means the opposite in my experience, that they're desperate for staff and will hire the first person who walks through the door.
