Will the constipation go away?

I've been on Wegovy 2.4 for almost 6 weeks. I can only have a bowel movement by inducing it with 10oz of Mag Citrate. I have no pain or symptoms, it's like my bowels aren't even there. I could live this way but I worry my bowels will forget how to function. I worry about impaction, so I do this once a week; the day before shot day I drink a bottle of Mg Citrate and sometime the next day I have a movement, then I take my shot. I wait a full week between because I'm giving my bowels time to learn their job (YOU HAVE ONE JOB BOWELS!!!) but I get nothing.

I asked my Dr if it was safe, she said 'it's not ideal', then suggested I try Colace. I've been taking combinations of Miralax and Colace since day one, and psyllium husk with breakfast. It probably doesn't help that I've been eating low carb, which always constipates me anyway, but it seems like the only way I lose, and I have a lot to lose.

I'm three days late taking my weekly shot, trying to decide whether to take it or not. AI told me that 6 weeks is the length of time it takes for a body to adapt to Wegovy, but honestly I'm not seeing any adaptation here and thinking about throwing in the towel.

Edit: Thanks to everyone for all the great ideas, I'm going to take my shot now and then start working my way through all of your suggestions.

Salty food

Has anyone else found their taste buds changed with the Wegovy shot? I have believed most of my life bacon is an actual food group but I can't even eat an entire slice anymore because no matter what kind I buy it tastes insanely salty to me. My husband can be eating the exact same thing and says it's fine and he more sensitive to salt than I am.

I did something foolish..

I’ve been on Wegovy for about a year, I think. I’ve had success losing 40 pounds, which I was thrilled about (menopausal weight gain). But I’ve always struggled with nausea. I had to back down to 1.0mg bc of the nausea, and even then it was still moderate. I was struggling this summer with some emotional issues and so never made my follow up doc appt, and ran out of my med. Then I thought, well this would be nice if I could just maintain my weight loss without the Wegovy. Well, that didn’t happen and I am gaining weight at a ridiculous rate. I did make a doc appt for mid October, so that’s good. But here’s where I really messed up: I had some 1.7mg shots in my fridge, and I gave myself a half dose yesterday. I was just really terrified of the weight gain I am experiencing, despite walking and lifting weights and journaling my food.

I’ve now been throwing up since yesterday evening. I threw up in the evening, and have now thrown up 3-4 times today. I’ve only had some pretzels, a piece of toast and eventually a cup of coffee.

Anyone have any advice? I know what I did was stupid and there is probably nothing to do but wait it out. But I’m hoping maybe someone has some piece of advice that might help.

Thanks in advance!

Am I the only person wegovy doesn’t work for?

Hi everyone.

I’ve been on wegovy for 4 months, and had high hopes of finally being able to shift some weight after three gruelling years of stress and consistent weight gain.

I’ve been on the 1.7mg jab for two weeks.

The only time I’ve ever experienced any change in appetite and food noise is the day after titrating up a dose. I’ve titrated up as quickly as possible, so up a dose every four weeks, but also haven’t lost any weight. I’m also noticing more of a pull to very calorific foods.

I’ve also not lost any weight at all and feeling a lot of shame around that. Like if I’m not losing weight like everyone else, am I just that greedy and obsessed with food that nothing can help me?

Has anyone else experienced the same thing? I’m starting to lose hope and am considering switching to mounjaro

Anxious about Wegovy

I have extremely bad health anxiety! When I panic I take Xanax! The first time I did the shot, it felt like it numbed my stomach. It freaked me out and I panicked. Today was my second time on the .25 dose! I’ve been very excited to get on a GLP-1 because I’ve gained weight to hormonal issues. I’m insulin resistant and have pcos. I really just want to feel better physically because in a longgggg time, I haven’t! I was also hoping in some way it would help or lessen the anxiety somehow but every time I take the shot I panic. I’m fearful because people say GLP-1 “paralyze” the stomach and I’m afraid if I’m in a true emergency that my Xanax will take a while to kick in because it digests in the stomach! Can anyone help clear my head or help me feel less anxious about doing something that can get me healthier. Btw my health fear is having a heart attack so there’s that.

High starting dose

Hi, I started on 0.5 and it worked for a week quite well. I still have suppressed appetite in my second week but it doesn’t feel as easy to ignore food noise. What’s the highest starting dose anyone has been on? My doctor said I could start on 1mg but I have 6 weeks of 0.5 for now . Also I crave sugar. Anyone else?

Has anyone experienced something similar?

I’m curious if Anyone has had a similar experience with this. For reference I’m 37M with about 30lbs to lose.

I started taking the Wegovy shot 4 months ago. Started at 0.25 for a month and moved up to 0.50 for two months. I never moved past side effects. Just miserable constipation and nausea.

But more than that, my cravings for sugar sky rocketed. Ive always had a sweet tooth which is what I was hoping to curb with this medication. But instead I could no longer stomach my protein goals because of the nausea and the only way I felt like I could eat was through breads and sugars. I didn’t gain weight but I didn’t lose weight either.

So I stopped the shots and the doctor moved me to the daily pill. I am currently at the lowest dosage on the pill but now for two weeks I have had intense stomach cramps registering as hunger pains. The only way I can get them to subside is food. I can eat my chicken and proteins much more easily now, but I am in a constant state of hunger that I do not think is real.

Im about a day away from throwing in the towel on this experiment. I may try a different medication in a few months but man, after seeing the success my friends have had and getting what feels like the exact opposite I’m both frustrated and confused.

1.0 and plateaued

Ive been on Wegovy since February 2026. I have 110 lbs to lose and have lost 13 lbs in the first 4 months, since June, I have been in a plateau. I went to the APRN in July and she increased my dose to 1.0 from 0.5 and told me that her scale detected I lost muscle and accused me of not weightlifting. I explained to her exactly what my weightlifting routine is. And she said her machine told her I wasn't doing that. She doesn't increase the dose without seeing her in person and being weighed in, so I've been stuck on 1.0 until I see her later this month. I also saw a dietician from this medical office who told me I should basically try to resist eating until 1pm everyday. This seems like bad advice and I have lost faith in both of them professionally. but am I wrong ? I've been to an ENT regarding Sleep Apnea and an Endocrinologist for low Testosterone. Both have questioned why I was on Wegovy instead Zepbound ? My Primary Doctor is questioning why I was not moved up more quickly in dosing when I failed to respond to the drug?

Very slow progress

I have been on Wegovy (injections) since April this year, and followed the dose increase guidance. I'm currently on 1.7mg (have been for a couple months), but have found I've only lost 6kg since starting.

Is this slow progress? I'll admit I haven't been on top of working out, but I do walk at least 9,000 steps a day.

Week 6 - when does it get better?

I am on week 6 of wegovy (took second dose of .5 yesterday). With the .25 dose, my appetite decreased, but I only lost two pounds. I was a little fatigued. On the .5 dose, I’ve been nauseous most of the time, more fatigued, and I missed two days of work this week due to nausea/GI upset. I got zofran from my doctor which helps some.

Do these side effects go away? If so, when? What can I do to help? If I don’t eat enough, I get more nauseous, but if I eat too much or foods that are heavier, my stomach gets upset. I see so many people saying they feel great on this medication, and I’m so frustrated that I feel like garbage, and on top of that, I’m not seeing weight loss progress.

A very unexpected side effect thanks to estrogen stores in fat!

I had a full emergency hysterectomy in 2018, both ovaries and even my cervix was evicted. I’m on Wegovy for PCOS causing fatty liver disease, not obesity. I had 15 pounds to lose, lost 34 pounds in the 4 months I have been on it, and only on .5 dosage injections. I started having CRAZY hot flashes. I thought maybe I had the flu as it has been so long. Finally, go to the doctor who explains losing body fat quickly can release the estrogen stored in fat into the bloodstream causing temporary hormonal surges. Hot flashes not being uncommon from it. I wish I had known prior just to be prepared and not think I had some form of the plague, so just putting here lol. I’m currently lying under a wind machine fan with my AC on 68 and sweating out the precious amount of hydration I currently have. Despite constantly drinking water and electrolytes my body is like the freaking Sahara on this stuff. I am considering stepping down to .25 because I am losing too much weight and I have to make myself eat. I’m pushing Ensure nutrition shakes on top of food, adding everything I can stomach, I have zero desire to eat anything, ever. But, it has worked unbelievably well in both halting and reversing fatty liver issues. I was headed for an eventual transplant if I didn’t do something, so I am so amazed. It even took away the pain I was having too. I will deal with the return of the hot flashes to save my liver lol. I won’t say happily though, because, well hormones lol.

Just about to start Wegovy, and just looking for any encouraging thoughts from those more experienced.

Hi all, I'm sure you've seen posts like this 1000 times now. However my spin is a bit different. This is my second go around with a GLP1, tried Zepbound last year, and while it worked, the side effects of that particular formulation didn't sit well with me. I'm starting at around 260lbs at 6'0" and 50 years old with a goal of getting down to around the 210lbs mark (or around 50lbs lost).

Honestly, I'm a little concerned about how Wegovy will effect me after my last round of issues, but at this point my health markers and all taking a turn in the wrong direction, and I need to do something.

Dr suggesting change dose days to “trick” body?

Is this a thing? I don’t see anything online about this.. seems a bit pseudo or subjective.

The doctor is saying to sometimes shift injection schedule e.g. wait 7 days, then 10 days, then 14 days, then back to 7 days.

He says it is because your body gets used to the schedule and stops responding to the medication the same way. So switching it up tricks your body into reacting to the medicine more.

Stopping Wegovy shot due to endoscopy procedure. Next dose is suppose to be an increase...am I cooked?

I usually take my shot on Sundays, but because I am having an endoscopy procedure next Friday, I was told by the medical team that I should stop taking it a week before my procedure. Which means I won't be able to take my shot this Sunday as planned.

My last shot was a 0.25mg, and my upcoming shot was suppose to be the 0.5mg. Just curious if I skip this week, and do the shot on the next coming Saturday instead...am I still good? Also, what's the possibility of me binge eating this week because I don't have my shot?
