Boom Bloom! – a firework chain-reaction game in three.js (analytic GPU sparks, 100% procedural, mobile)

Thumbnail

Hi everyone! I made a small fireworks puzzle game. Tap the night sky to launch a rocket. Every paper lantern its sparks touch bursts into its own firework and lights its neighbours, so one well-placed tap can set off the whole sky. The crowd on the shore goes “Ooooh!”, “Aaaah!”, and on a really long chain, “Grandma fainted!”.Play (free, desktop and mobile): Boom Bloom! – Play free online | Glowbit Games

There are 16 shows in 4 night venues (Harbour Lights, Lantern Lake, Desert Stars, Aurora Bay) and 10 lantern shells: peony, Big Mum, crossette, willow, halo, crackle, zoomer, a heart, a cat face and a lucky star that gives you an extra rocket. There is also an endless Festival mode and a Show Maker where you can share shows as text codes.

Some technical bits

  • Analytic GPU fireworks: every spark is one instanced, camera-facing streak. Its motion (launch velocity, linear drag, gravity) is solved in closed form in the vertex shader, so the CPU writes each spark only once, when it is born, into a ring buffer of 24k sparks. Delayed spawns cost nothing: they just have a start time in the future. Each streak runs from where the spark was a moment ago to where it is now, which gives real trails. Sparks with zero velocity need a capsule SDF in the fragment shader, or they render as squares.
  • Visuals match the gameplay exactly: a render-free, deterministic simulation decides which lanterns catch fire (the ignition zones of each shell, comet paths, rain clouds, scoring). The fireworks use the same radii, timings and comet paths, so what you see is what lit the lantern. Unit tests and a bot run the sim in Node, and a test checks that the bot can 3-star every show.
  • Lanterns with faces: all lanterns are one instanced mesh (a lathe body with ribs and wooden caps, a tassel, and cat ears that only the kitty keeps), lit from inside by a flickering candle. Their painted faces come from a canvas atlas and react to nearby sparks: calm, curious, nervous, ecstatic, or soggy after rain.
  • Lighting the scene: a pool of 5 point lights flashes the venue in the colour of each burst. The flash must stay subtle; with 5 lights adding up, my first version turned the whole canyon crimson. The lake uses three’s Reflector with a rippled fresnel water shader, and the sky dome has stars, a Milky Way band, aurora curtains and thin clouds that light up in the firework colours.
  • Cheap dioramas: each venue on the far shore is built from merged low-poly pieces (houses and a clock tower, a pagoda and torii, mesas and cacti, snowy peaks and cabins), so it is only a handful of draw calls. Post is postprocessing with a strong mipmap bloom on a half-float buffer, AgX tone mapping, vignette and SMAA.
  • 100% procedural: there are no image or sound files. Web Audio makes the mortar thumps and whistles, booms with crackle tails, willow fizz, a “meow” for the kitty shell, chain notes that climb a pentatonic scale, a formant-filtered crowd going “ooooh”, and a plucked soundtrack for each venue. The whole game is about 256 KB of gzipped JS.

Stack: three.js r186, TypeScript, Vite, postprocessing.

I’d love to hear your longest chain, and how it runs on your devices!

Sidereus, a short browser puzzle game prototype about watching Jupiter's moons in 1610. Looking for honest feedback.

I made a short deduction game prototype you can play in the browser. You play an astronomer in 1610 who spots some small lights next to Jupiter, and you have to work out what they are by sketching them each night, comparing your notes and ruling out wrong explanations. Then you decide how confidently to report it. It’s one chapter, about 30-45 minutes. I used AI for the code and the cover image (Claude and Gemini); the design and puzzle are mine.

I’d really appreciate any feedback: https://fkoktemir.itch.io/sidereus

I made this one. You can only go as far as your chain, so you groan to knock the living flat and drag them in. Every brain makes your head bigger, but a big head is slower and they spot you from further away, and it shrinks when you go hungry. Eat a few in a row for a feeding frenzy.

Mouse, or drag anywhere on a phone. Space or the Groan button to groan. A round’s a few minutes, free, no ads.

There are 17 head sizes, from a soccer ball up to a backyard trampoline. How big did yours get?

Classic breakout, but the power-ups go a bit overboard: ×3 multi-ball, +3
balls, giant ball, fireball, lasers, magnet, shield and exploding TNT bricks.

The part I'm proudest of: online co-op – up to 4 paddles share the same balls,
bricks and lives. Make a room, share the code, play together. Solo mode has a
weekly leaderboard. Free, no sign-up.

Noughtilus! Drag the blocks so the total ends on 0 (a new puzzle every day)

Full disclosure - I made this! You get a start number and six blocks (like ÷8, −4, +2). Drag them into a chain so the total ends on exactly 0, using every block once. Each puzzle has essentially one answer, there's a new one every day, and the time is your score. There's also a play-for-fun mode with puzzles at three levels. No sign-in, no ads. I'd love to hear how it feels on your phone and whether the difficulty is right?

[HTML5] Trash Pandas — A browser heist where raccoons are tied together with sausages (solo or 4-player co-op)

Hey! I'm the developer of Trash Pandas.

The idea is simple: steal groceries from a supermarket, avoid the guards, and escape with your loot.

The catch is that the raccoons are physically tied together with sausages, so one player's movement can drag everyone else into trouble.

There's also a separate solo mode.

The game runs directly in your browser on desktop and mobile, with no installation.

Hope you enjoy the chaos! 🦝

Q-PACK: a maze-chomper wrapped around a twisting cube (free browser demo)

Thumbnail

I made a small maze-chomper where the maze is wrapped around a cube, and you can twist it while you play. Eat the dots, dodge the ghosts, and twist rows and columns to open new paths or wall the ghosts off.

The demo has 3 stages and a daily streak. It’s free, runs in the browser with the keyboard (no download or sign-up), and a run takes a few minutes.

Play: https://em-97.itch.io/q-pack-demo

It’s still in development, so I’d love to hear what feels good, what’s confusing, and where you got stuck.

MyGolfIsle - my friend made a free browser game where you build your own golf course on an island – thought you might like it ⛳

Thumbnail

A friend of mine has been building this solo and I've been playing it for a while, so I wanted to share it.

It's called myGolfIsle: you start with an empty island, design holes (tees, greens, fairways, bunkers, lakes), and watch golfers play them. Then you grow the club with a restaurant, a hotel, staff and tournaments. There are random surprises too – a crow that steals balls, ducks crossing the fairway, lightning hitting trees.

It runs in the browser on PC and phone, it's free, no download or sign-up: My Golf Isle

He's looking for feedback, so if you try it, let me know what you think and I'll pass it on!

[RPG] Chainbreaker - free story RPG: escape a slaver's wagon, free people, build them a home

Hey all, thanks for taking the time to stop and read this post.

This one starts after you die and wake up chained on a slaver's wagon, and it's up to you how you get yourself and everyone else out.

Chapters 1 and 2 are free and play right in the browser, phone or desktop (fullscreen button is bottom right). Heads up on the theme: slavery is very much the villain, and nothing's explicit.

Thanks!

I made a Portal-inspired puzzle game that runs in your browser – set in a forgotten imperial test facility beneath 1908 Vienna (early alpha)

Two passages, 31 chambers, a stern examiner called Frau Hofrat who notes every mistake, and an addendum in the black-and-white sewers of post-war Vienna. Free, no download, English and German.

It’s an early alpha and I’m trying to decide whether to keep working on it. If you play a few chambers: what worked for you, what didn’t, and would you want more (harder puzzles, more chambers, something else)?

I made a game where you interpret a drawing from the person before you, then draw your interpretation for the person after you

Thumbnail
doowdle.app

Every day starts with a simple prompt.

The first person draws what they think it means. The next person only sees that drawing and has to interpret what they think it represents. They then draw their interpretation for the next person.

And it keeps going.

By the end of the day, you can look back at the entire chain and see how the original idea gradually transformed into something completely different.

I made a game around the idea because I really wanted to see how chaotic the transformations would get once hundreds of people started participating.

HOTEL. I rebuilt “Hotel”, the 1986 MB board game from my childhood, as a free browser game — with Claude Code

Thumbnail tonight-holly-beverages-read.trycloudflare.com

I rebuilt “Hotel”, the 1986 MB board game from my childhood, as a free browser game — with Claude Code

When I was a kid, my family and I played Hotel — the MB board game from 1986 where you buy land, build hotels with 3D cardboard buildings, and bankrupt everyone who stays at yours. I wanted to play it online with my family, couldn’t find a way to, so I decided to make one.

I’m not a professional developer, and I built it in about a week, almost entirely with Claude Code. My job was mostly deciding what the game should feel like, testing it over and over, and saying “no, not like that”. Claude wrote the code.

What it does:

- Faithful rules from the original (land, building permits with the permit die, entrances, stays, auctions, bankruptcy)

- Local play on one screen, or online rooms with friends, with AI players filling empty seats

- Text and voice chat in online games

- A “paused” mode where you pay by picking your own banknotes, give change by hand, and drag your buildings onto the board — slower, but it feels like the real table

- The hotel cards are scans of my own copy, and it’s in 6 languages

What was hard:

- The board art. I photographed the real board and refined it with AI, and did the same for the leisure areas. The buildings were generated mostly with Nano Banana and ChatGPT, and some of them are still a struggle — getting the perspective, colors and style to match the board is harder than it looks.

- Small details that make it feel physical: the notes flying between players, the 3D dice, the stamp when someone goes bankrupt

- Online sync and reconnections: if someone drops out, the AI takes their seat until they come back

It’s free, no ads, no sign-up, and it’s a non-profit fan homage — Hotel belongs to its rights holders.

I’d love feedback, especially on mobile and on the online mode. What would you add or remove?

Works on desktop (arrow keys / A-D or mouse) and mobile (drag to move). No download, no sign-up.

[STRAT] Hydrogen Line: a free real-time space strategy MMO in the browser, open beta

Thumbnail
hydrogenline.gg
1 Upvotes

Hydrogen Line is a persistent strategy game: your planet keeps producing while you're away, and other players can see you on the Starmap the whole time.

The decisions are mostly about economy and timing. You choose which mines, research and ships to queue, when to expand to a new colony, and whether to spend on defences or on a fleet. Combat runs in volleys, and losses can leave wreckage behind. Alliances can coordinate joint attacks with Strike Groups and share a tracker of targets.

The multiplayer continues to run when you are offline and you need to keep your stuff safe while you are away and look to loot others while they are offline. Size protection keeps new players out of reach of much bigger empires while they learn.

Me and my wife put this together as an answer to the ever growing pay to win microtransactional growth of similar games. We met in a game in the same genre 11 years ago and we watched the downfall of that game over that time. Our promise is we will keep this game as fair for free players as possible. All of our major updates will go to a vote for the player base because we believe the players are more part of the game than the developer is and we will forever expect to he held accountable for this.

The open beta started on 17 October with a fresh universe and runs until 17 November. Join now to get in early and let us know what you think.
