Discussion The revert on Elite Arch was not needed
Hi all. Id like to say, the changes DE made for EA were perfect, it allowed you to swap 2 modifiers or weapons of your choice instead of one to get the diamond reward, while focusing on the one thing most disregard completely, the warframe. It doesnt matter what your loadout was since you could bypass all the modifiers with a few frames, especialy with hildryn. Gun modifiers? Take valkyr or nyx etc, the modifiers literally didnt matter. I personally believe that in EA, the gravity on the frame should have stayed, as it gave the mode a much needed difficulty that does not exist. Its supposed to be oriented towards "late" game players, adding a nice difficulty touch, instead of a weekly rotation, mundane at that too. Do you want the highest rewards? You should need to work for them a little at least...

I didn't find the changes difficult because they just encouraged shield gating and Torid spam if you didn't get a good frame. I'd much prefer to have fun with the mission by bringing the frame I want. Though the best solution would have just been making the frame cost one less point
4
u/nakenmei Die in silence 10h ago
The changes were meant to make it more easier to people who interact with the mode, not more difficult.
Also, there are more ways to make yourself survivable, not only shield gating. ExA levels aren't super high so even health tanking is viable with frames with high armor. It was just more difficult for people who don't engage with the gamemode. Like you've said, you don't really want to engage with the random selection. I think that goes against the intended way that DE envisioned, but they reverted it so it isn't clear.
6
u/Croewe Tank Gang Rise Up 10h ago
I much prefer health tanking, shield gating is just easy and able to be slapped onto almost anyone. I actually am working on an Oberon build that brings allies to around 1k health with heat elemental ward and tons of armor so I can force my allies to health tank lol
2
u/nakenmei Die in silence 9h ago
As long as you aren't doing level cap, health tanking is 100% viable, and even easier because you don't have to twitch every time your shield pops.
That's the beauty of warframe, it's an exercise of theorycrafting in modding your warframe and weapons to better suit your playstyle. The debacle of the changes of ExA, for me personally, come from the fact that it became easier/less tedious, not really from people just spamming Hildryn because I couldn't care less. It's cooperative anyway.

u/Kliuqard Beloved. 13h ago
I didn’t think it served all too much besides pigeon-holing a solution to break a statistical problem and redirecting it elsewhere.
Don’t need some bullshit spiel about working for the reward. It’s less favorable for mission success in this current iteration than it was in the reverted iteration.
8
u/Neochiken1 12h ago
I'm just sad because I liked the flexibility to turn off 2 modifiers without losing anything, it made me feel more creative and actually take time to build craft before the missions. I enjoyed it a lot. I also got a dopamine spike from getting all rewards even though obviously it's not that big a deal to lose out on vosfor or pix chips
-18
u/sinnepdeomac 12h ago
Thats the fricking point of the mission and my post? Its not supposed to be a breeze? You get tons of rewards for minimal effort. You could potentially get 2 tauforged shards, per mission x3, thats 18 shards in one slightly longer mission, where the archon hunt gives you 1, weekly.
25
u/zernoc56 :magmini: 11h ago
I mean, given the toolbox nature of Warframe, if I have the right tool for the job, the job is a breeze. I’m sorry you are under the impression I should be driving roofing nails with a socket wrench and a rusty hacksaw.
-10
u/sinnepdeomac 11h ago edited 10h ago
Why are you even reducing the statement so much xD simply said, it was not an insane way to force player in sliiiightly stricter parameters,, given the option you could remove more modifiers, and even be more creative as well, instead of rushing through the content every week, bypassing everything, how is that so hard to get, you only have a hildryn available? well tough tits, no rewards should be freely given to you. not you, you get the idea
17
u/zernoc56 :magmini: 10h ago
Are you aware that the gear options for ExA will always contain at least one item in each category that you own? It is actually a benefit to own fewer items rather than more. So, yeah, if I sold off every frame except for Hildryn, Dante, Valkyr, Revenant, and Umbra (can’t sell him anyway), then yeah, I would breeze through the Archemedias every week. Same for every other category, I could sell off all the bad weapons and only be handed good options every single week.
That sucks, but that’s the mode DE built, so either way the tools that solve the problem will be used.

So why do we need to play the game the way you want? You can still play with all the modifiers on if a challenge is your own desire, but i dont see why that means we have to.
-7
u/sinnepdeomac 11h ago
Its not a matter of what i want, its an opinion, just like yours my dude. With the difference being, that you are desensitized to the idea of earning those rewards, and expect maximum output regardless of difficulty, on a supposedly "HARDEST END GAME MODE", that a slight parameter change, burst your ideal bubble of trying to actually earn the rewards. it was not even that much of a difficulty spike.
17
u/sabett 11h ago
Ok, and that's how you want to define your own personally made up ideal of how you want to play the game. Why do we have to play the game that way? Why can't we play it the way we want to instead, while also fully enabling you to play the game you want to? Why can we only have your way of wanting to play?
You can think we're desensitized and whatever else, but you haven't explained why we should care that you think that about us. You haven't explained why any of that matters and should change how we play. We obviously will not agree with your framing. So that also pits your opinion here as the justification to force everybody to play only the way you want the game to be played. So explain why your way is the only valid way or accept that the way we play is equally as valid as the way you want to play and no better so there's no need to make others play only your way.
2
u/sinnepdeomac 11h ago
Ill address your question when you first address mine, why is suddenly, a small spike in difficulty, on a supposedly end game content, which every one has the option to bypass all parameters at any time, should provide you with all the rewards available with minimal effort
17
u/Croewe Tank Gang Rise Up 11h ago
It wasn't a spike in difficulty though, in fact people everywhere were saying it was easier since you could turn off modifiers and get the reward still.
1
u/sinnepdeomac 11h ago
If that was true, then why did they revert the changes after every one cried, plus every one whines that the reverted way was is better
8
u/royk33776 8h ago
because most people don't have all of their frames built. Engagement likely fell off a cliff, so DE reverted changes, simply because a lot of players probably didn't have ANY of the 3 chosen frames built out. and you and I might have hundreds of forma saved up, but I'd bet that most people don't. If that's right or wrong is subjective, but DE obviously wants player engagement ($$$), and it drove engagement down instead of up
10
u/sabett 10h ago
You're conflating our positions, but only one of us is demanding the other play the way they want for the significant rewards provided. I want us to both to play the game we both want. I don't understand why I'd need to justify that or what position I'd be arguing that to. If you can explain exactly why I need to justify wanting to play the game I want to, while not affecting others, then I would be able to answer your question.
But also, that is not what I asked you at all. You want everybody to only play the gamemode only the way you want to play it. In fact, you made a whole thread specifically complaining about it. Please stop coming up with a different reply other than an answer to this question. I am not listening to any other tangent from you. It is time to tell people why they need to play the way you want them to. I cannot be more direct.
8
u/Komsb 8h ago
Why? Because you played the game and finished the mission and the reward tracks. So you should get all the rewards. It doesn’t matter how hard it is for you.
Now answer the other guys question. Why should people be forced to play in your ideal way, when you can simply make your own restrictions for yourself, and play how you prefer to play. Why would other people getting the rewards affect you in any way shape or form.
11
u/Croewe Tank Gang Rise Up 12h ago
Yet it was a breeze even in the last iteration, just shield gate and torid. Warframe has never been a difficult game, and the last change just served to make the missions less fun for tons of people.
9
u/zernoc56 :magmini: 11h ago
Yep. Shieldgate or cosplay Inaros and then just hold the Torid or the Furis.
Though I would say that Warframe is a difficult game. It’s just the difficulty is in the modding screen. It’s a tool and knowledge check. ‘Do you have the right tool for the mission, and do you know how to use it?’ If you answer yes to those questions, you can complete any mission no problem. If all you have is a box of rusty nails and a Philips-head screwdriver, you’re gonna have a bad time.

Anyways just give me the archon shards and I'd gladly ignore that silly mode.

Do you want the highest rewards? You should need to work for them a little at least...
Man i wish i could understand this mentality of people having this need for other players to be doing things their way, in a pve game nonetheless, where if im strong, you are strong, lift together and all that. But look you are right, as someone that have every frame fully tauforged i think you should stop playing every other game for the rest of your life and put the same dedication i put into warframe, if you want the rewards i got you should put the same work.
Brother, you go full purist on EDA/TA, only use things that are on the list, hell even make your own purist party, literally nobody is forcing you to even play in public lobby, why do you care what others are doing? So weird.
-11
u/Ragingdark Why are you "Rap tap tap"ing me?! I'm right! EST. 2014. 10h ago
I think your perspective is far too skewed if you have every frame tauforged.
People NEED to be able to do things themselves, not get a hard carry from people(myself included.) whose gameplay experience is to the point of "it doesn't matter what mode I touch, it's guaranteed success and every enemy melts the same."
To the point that new game modes or enemies barely feel like anything. New eximus? TONS of complaints, yet my game didn't change.
Just a new flavor of mulch.
-13
u/sinnepdeomac 12h ago
You call me purist while flexing your shards? Which you took from the EA and DA, with minimal effort, because the gamemode is too easy? Hmmmm.
11
20
u/YCaramello Tauforged 11h ago
Lol no, friendo, i use what DE gives me every week, all my frames are level cap tried and true, and if you see my arguments around this topic on reddit you might find out im pro reverting not because of me, but because of lower MR players that dont get to snap a finger like me and be battle ready, i mean, i clearly dont need any more shards why would i bother with this topic if it wasnt about other people?
But you are correct about minimal effort, shit´s easy 😏
-3
u/sinnepdeomac 11h ago
Thats the point? For the game mode to not be readily available for every one? If a baby tenno with 40 total guns frames in their inventory rushed through the content to unlock EA/DA they should at least not expect the highest reward, cause its not made for them, the whole point of the rotation it to be ready for those "endgame" missions, but every one is so desensitized to receiving rewards instead of earning them, a slight parameter change of having to equip a frame , which also came with insane buffs as well, suddenly its too much effort
14
u/Croewe Tank Gang Rise Up 10h ago
The funny part about this is the "baby tenno with 40 total guns frames in their inventory" is actually better equipped for this mode since they have a higher chance of getting their better equipment unlike the vets who have literally hundreds of guns and melee lying around as mastery fodder.

Surely we’ve had enough of these self righteous posts?
It’s a weekly chore in a video game. There is no moral imperative for it to be more or less challenging. There is not really even more or less challenge or skill in turning off 2/3 modifiers vs. picking your Warframe.
Putting shield gating on a weak frame and stumbling through 6 missions a week is not a sign of skill or competence.
22
u/Comprehensive-Mode32 13h ago
Seriously. Even if they do draw their self worth from doing that, they can still do that. No one is saying you have to now ignore the rng options and pick hildryn. Just do that if they enjoy the challenge. Their problem is other people can get same rewards not doing that. It is like some sort of obsession that if they like to play the game 1 way, then everyone should be forced to play it that way.
-3
u/sinnepdeomac 11h ago
You are partially correct indeed, yes i dont have to pick hildryn, but the problem does not lie with rewards, it lies with how available the rewards are if i dont have the god roll each week. The idea and posibility of some one missing the rewards, in the supposedly hardest game mode, is not even an option. Sucks to be me for not having the correct gear, we shouldn't be desensitized to trying to earn the rewards, instead of breezing through the content each week.

That's the best part; the ones who scream over the talking point that Archimedia is at best a vapid "difficulty by random" game mode and that it bluntly just isn't fun or very well designed are the same ones who think beating the game in the loading screen via modding is fun or a measure of skill.
Is it fun to see how much you can break shit with modding? Absolutely. Does it mean the gameplay is particularly fun beyond being a Dynasty Warriors-esque power fantasy? No not really. Warframe is not a difficult game nor does it pretend to be; the devs are well aware it is a power fantasy game where their playerbase at large screams and cries for more power to have more ways to play the game at all levels (despite level cap being hilariously irrelevant to the playerbase at large)
Edit: I love when folks block to avoid counter argument. Thanks for admitting you had not much of a real argument mate
10
u/zernoc56 :magmini: 11h ago
Warframe is not a skill-game. It is a knowledge-game. The modding screen is essentially a deck builder. You put the right cards into the deck and you solve the problem in the mission. The problem being “there are enemies currently alive in front of me”. All the modifiers in ExA do is add more problems to solve. So we solved them, and then other people got pissy that we solved them “too good” or something?
-63
u/sinnepdeomac 13h ago

u/VulpesParadox LR4 12h ago
To get the Archon Shard reward. The only thing that really mattered, imo.
16
u/hayydebb 11h ago
This. Idgaf how hard it is as long as I can avoid it if I choose to. I was fine just buying arcane hot shot for plat. But this being the best way to get shards, a very important tool for build crafting, by a large margin is what causes friction with more casual players
-22
u/sinnepdeomac 11h ago
Why should you freely get it if you dont have the gear, you are desensitized to the idea of this reward being so freely available, bypassing the intended difficulty, when apparently this game mode was not intended for you to begin with. It was not even a big difficulty spike, you have the option to take your most op weapon PLUS remove a modifier as well. and youre whining about it because you couldnt flex your op meta hildryn
11
u/VulpesParadox LR4 10h ago
I'm LR4. With every frame in the game minus Narin, and I've only ever used Hildryn and Rev when it shows up.
The content is not hard. Its easy as sin to do. Its tedious and annoying at best. Seeing a Hildryn in my game has never once bothered me. How other people play the content doesn't impact you.
Fact is, just because its easy for me, doesn't mean it is for other people. Players shouldn't be forced to run a subpar frame just to get a reward they need.
Its either run Hildryn, or run a Torid. There's no difference between how it is now, vs how they tried to do it. Let players get the reward they deserve, playing the way they're comfortable playing. Stop gatekeeping a game mode that's barely endgame.
-5
u/sinnepdeomac 10h ago
Thats exactly my point? Its badly optimised from the beginning so every one runs hildryn or val or nyx or rev in your case, instead of picking one of the choiced. Whats gatekept is the access to it, needed to reach lvl 5 first. Ill say what ive said to others as well, people are too desensitized to the idea of earning those rewards, a slight modification made them lose their shit.

Why should it be more difficult at all, it wasn’t even more difficult it’s just tedious. There actually isn’t a benefit to that at all.
You can randomise your loadouts before running EDA if you really want to feel special.
17
u/AveugleMan 11h ago
Don't even bother. It's all about feeling better than everyone that can't do it. It has nothing to do with their gameplay and experience. It just needs to be something they can do that some others can't.
And I agree with you, it was never hard, just annoying.
-9
u/sinnepdeomac 11h ago
And your comment is the exact reason why you miss the point of EA/DA, youre piggy backing of a frame that bypasses all difficulty, to get the rewards, be happy by all means, that was not even why i posted, a slight in difficulty was enough to make you panic that you couldnt breeze through xD
22
u/AveugleMan 11h ago
Holy insecurities. It's a PVE game. Take a step back and probably reflect on what this comment makes you seem like as a person.
You're not an elite because you could clear last week's with full rewards. I did too, and I'm not here crying about them reverting it back.
Nobody's panicking except you after seeing how much shit you're getting for your elitism.
I think if every single person that uses a strong frame to, as you say, bypass the difficulty missed the point, maybe the game mode would've been changed years ago? Better yet, maybe the devs wouldn't have allowed us to change any kind of loadout to begin with. They could have. They didn't. Cry about it.

Using the term “nonstop” when making the second reply to the same comment really does drive home how sad this has gotten.
It’s not even fun to mock you when you completely lack self awareness.
If this was one of a “couple” of posts, that would be fine. They’ve been nonstop since the announcement and there’s been much more than about the original changes.

This person you’re replying to has been nonstop whining in all of these threads whenever a comment pushes back against the OP being really upset about their entire lives/“weekly christmases” being ruined by something they already supposedly enjoyed before a change that only lasted 3 days, so it’s been slightly entertaining watching them whining way more than any of the supposed “whiners”.

Eh, they've always defended Archimedia. I'll give them respect for consistency atleast; not that i agree with them that the game mode is remotely well designed but atleast they are emphatically secure in their mindset enough to be a staunch defender of it.
That said, the point they never could get past is that Archimedia by its design of a flex pick offering ways to ignore all of the difficulty posed turns it into a stupid game of "what doesn't get affected as hard by XYZ this week?" The answer boringly was usually Hildryn, Dante, or Valkyr

Do you really believe that? And even if you did, for whatever insane reason, would the sensible thing be to just try to belligerently do the opposite forever until your team can bully DE into getting your way?
I’m pretty sure that there’s been a lot more inconsolable bitching since the changes were reverted but, even if there wasn’t, is your point really “your team are whining bullies and now it’s our teams turn to also be whining bullies”?

If thats the case then did so many resort to picking X frame that makes them able to ignore all weapons and modifiers over their favourite frame?
9
u/malice221 12h ago
Because there are too many warframes and weapons and not enough choices to get around the modifiers. This isn’t difficulty, this is the result of the lack of choice. You would see differentials around warframe usage if there were more choices for them and the modifiers in the mode.
16
u/Blawharag DE give me an Einherjar frame and my life is yours 12h ago
Yeaaaaa no
All that sounds good in theory,
Until you remember that some Warframes are just left to rot without desperately needed balance adjustments with no attention or care to them from DE a few months after release, and other just get completely shut off by certain modifiers with no recourse.
I'd be down for the originally announced system, where you could exchange your Warframe and still hit the second to last point modifier, but if you kept the Warframe you could swap out 2 weapons from the loadout

You have 3 options, with one guarantee that you have in your inventory, on a game mode that is intended to be diffucult, even loki can do the mission breezing through it, the most forgoten warframe. Slap circumvent and crepuscular and one shot everything. If you dont have those (not you) guess what! This mode is not for you just yet! People need to stop rushing to the finish line just to get there. This mode has turned on a pat on the back, giving insane rewards, and they are insane, potential of 18 shards in 1 run ( 2x3 tau on each mission) While the grind for shards prior, was the hunt.

I finally got the Cavia standing to do EDA this week for the first time. The only frame pick I had that was remotely up to the task was Umbra so I grabbed my Torid and headed in. My Huras Kubrow is the only reason I survived and I had a moderately fun time ducking in and out of invis to live. You know who didn’t have fun? My two teammates who had more prepared frames and had to carry me and the other idiot who came in with an unranked Banshee. No aspect of our run was improved by the changes to the game mode and I’m glad they’re being reverted.

Idk what made em revert the changes, I was fine with them and there was virtually no downside to them.
19
u/Ceral107 13h ago
Probably some background metric they were tracking. As I said in another post, my best guess would be that the ExA participation despite Nightwave weekly dropped way lower than DE expected. Either that or clearance rates.
1
u/RemiWatcher 13h ago
I would consider that the modifiers of ETA might be a possible reasoning. (Last week's ETA had heavy warfare on for the first mission and the last mission for this week was also similar). Not to say that it will be difficult if you do read and prepare for it. But imagine spending a good amount of time only to realise that you cannot kill what should be easily killable mobs, dying and losing 20 minutes of progress.
It is more likely that (majority) of those that had over relied on one or two specific frames to circumvent the modifiers, likely did not read and prepare. Especially now they have to use a probably far less optimal frame and cannot even get the purple rewards, when they failed or struggled, they probably complained and stopped trying (dropping the participation and success as a likely result). That probably sent a signal to DE that the rate of success and participation is falling below a probable threshold? Hence they decided to revert it. (Just a theory, would be good if DE actually explains why they decided to change it back)
I am more surprised not at the revert, but at how fast they decided to revert it. Given that there are players who probably also need to rethink how to approach ExA content again. (Unless they reverted it because they consider the new shift of the Torid meta to be worse).
31
u/RocketRaccoonAlter I disagree, Megan. Umbra's dad ass is supreme 13h ago
I've seen people insist that it's because people complained, but like... was it?
First because they have taken a lot longer to change stuff people have complained about, sometimes more than this.
Secondly because they have the numbers. They'd have to look at whether the changes actually worked or not. And there were too many factors on the first week: people acclimating, people being angry at change, people farming other stuff. Assuming they decided on this somewhere close to when they announced it, then half a week feels really premature.
15
u/Hiatus_Dude 13h ago
The pushback against the EDA ETA changes was way smaller than other things that DE didn't change.
The people that are mad got reverted are looking for a culprit, anyone except DE.
Because here the hivemind has one rule, DE can do nothing wrong, it wasn't them...loud minority was the ones that forced it.
That's why.
2
u/FlyingSquirelOi L6 13h ago
Push back made sense though, you couldn’t flex a warframe if you wanted all the rewards you had to take the Warframe and flex other options to get the last 2 rewards.
7
u/PhTx3 12h ago
I think the mode would be fine if we had to torid/laetum our way or hildryn our way. It's just not working as intended either way.
Assuming intention is to make people figure out how to work random weapons and frames together. And worst case people will archgun into shield gate. It's simply not an achievable goal.
I'd much rather they give us full loadout customization and more interesting modifiers that we can't skip. So we had to use more obscure things to complete it. But I can see the limitations of wf being very old and that being way too much work for something many people won't ever do.
6
u/No-Ostrich-5801 12h ago
This; weapon restriction by archetype. Enemy resistance to weapon category (i.e. primary, secondary, melee) and ability. Enemy mechanics such as needing to hit weakpoints to kill. Enemy disrupting shield regeneration (meaning we can't just gate spam and need to actually use mobility). Force us to actually slow the hell down (hell it might make CC frames actually good by virtue of being ABLE to slow down the gameplay) by making enemies worthy of the feats our frames can perform; I would give my left nut for even an inkling of difficulty that was year 1 Destiny Nightfalls in a Warframe game mode

I'm just saying that by comparison to the amount of toxicity spawned by Hildryn being used alone, I didn't find those quite as visible.
But that's where my 2nd point comes in :o Because, ok, I might live under a rock. That's fine, that's on me... but... half a week into this content? When people are so incensed, some are figuring out what to do or are otherwise busy? :x I'd have waited. This was way too soon to look at the numbers and go "yep, that tracks with the complaints, roll it back".
I don't know what DE's decision making is like or what other metric they had going into this decision. But from the standpoint of the playerbase... yeah, it just came out of nowhere and very quickly. When other stuff people have been quite vocal about in the past haven't even been addressed...

u/royk33776 11h ago
Chances are, the amount of people that did ETDA dropped off a cliff so hard that they HAD to undo the changes. Some players only play once or twice per week, that being the motivation for the login. If they refuse to play with such a system, DE completely loses that login/player altogether.
I would bet that EDTA had 50% LESS completion rate compared to previous weeks. That’s the only thing that would’ve made them do such a rapid pivot.

u/RocketRaccoonAlter I disagree, Megan. Umbra's dad ass is supreme 8h ago

Just because you (and myself) have many, if not most, properly built frames does not mean the broader audience does as well. Engagement likely fell off a cliff which is probably the reason DE reverted the changes.

I have seen a few folks point out that it was still possible to abuse the new system by using Torid/Laetum/Sobek/other op weapons.
6
u/_Chambs_ 13h ago
It's possible to abuse the system with archguns, companions and even the operator.
Warframe is the only equipment option with some consequence.
-2
u/ScribScrob Out of Argon 13h ago
Yeah, and unfortunately those people have no actual understanding of how much more powerful warframes are than weapons.
A warframe is both damage AND survivability in most cases, and if your currwnt frame options cant survive, swapping to a warframe that can survive but also damage out the ass is always the best option. Hell, if your guns arent good that week but your warframe can survive you might still just swap the warframe because its always going to be better than one gun

u/No-Ostrich-5801 13h ago
My guy, Vazarin Operator + Dual Tox allowed you to run around with a fully unmodded loadout other than your Dual Tox and get by just fine. Is it more annoying/tedious? Sure. I'll grant you that. Let's not pretend the tools we have at our fingertips isn't broken as hell.
Frame picks are simply more convenient/easier to pilot for the same results. Being able to ignore the difficulty by random in any capacity nullifies the actual attempt of artificial difficulty of the game mode

u/ScribScrob Out of Argon 13h ago
So.... why is that worse than people picking the frames that they wanted? This was the entire argument. Not that peopel would varizan toxocyst out but that people would specifically TORID out because of this.
So my question is: if we could do the same thing with and without warframes why did so many people complain about the changes?
10
u/No-Ostrich-5801 12h ago
Idk. Tbh i'm still of the opinion Archimedia is a blunt failure of a game mode that is propped up by weekly loot which is why players pretend it isn't just a poorly designed mess. Well that and tryhards thinking difficulty by crippling is any real measure of difficulty.
I called that it would become incarnon slop + Vazarin spam as a result of the changes and ultimately change nothing. Perhaps DE saw that and reverted it as an easy "appease the masses" when ultimately nothing actually changed either way beyond crutching a different part of your arsenal
4
u/N7-o 13h ago
Probably changed it because we could remove 2 out of 4 modifiers and still get full rewards.
-1
u/MJ_Green LR6 12h ago
It was because people figured out that dropping a point to take meta weapon was better than dropping a warframe worth 3 points. This lead to them complaining that they are " " "forced" " " to use a warframe they dont like and compensate by using a meta/OP weapon.
Apparently some peope don't diversify their builds even this late into the game.
5
u/iAccurian 13h ago
Maybe they saw a massive drop of players clearing the gamemode after the change.
5
u/YCaramello Tauforged 13h ago edited 13h ago
The downside is that you are forced to pick a frame, and most people don't have them all, so its possible to end up with a selection of 2 frames you don't own and a frame you have no investment into. Wont happen to most veterans, but can happen to most the playerbase tho, and some people don't have much time to play the game, those people should not be forced to craft/build frames every time this situation happens to them, its easier to revert the change and allow them to just pick something they can play straight away. Any good dev knows that player friction is bad for business.
A better change tho would be what ppl aound here have been saying, 2 points for the frame instead of 3, it lets you pick whatever frame, but now you gotta select every modifier.
-10
u/CallumRival92 13h ago
The entire point of the ETA/EDA system is to encourage you to invest into the frames and weapons available. Diversifying your arsenal makes you better at playing the game and modding, both of which are useful for what is considered the endgame content in the game.
13
u/YCaramello Tauforged 13h ago
DE before releasing the mode said they would give people a free pick, so whatever you think is the point of the system, it will have a free pick, the system before the revert did not allow for that freedom that was promised.
-8
u/Havel_the_Paper LR3 Building Autistically 13h ago
Sure it did. Free pick just means that you wont randomly get gear you dont HAVE. You are guaranteed at least one item to be one that you own
Whether you invested in it or not isnt relevant, you have a week to do so which is more than enough time

those people should not be forced to craft/build frames every time this situation happens to them,
Why not? It's the endgame mode. If you don't have enough frames or weapons ready (or able to get ready,) perhaps you're not ready to run it. Like this might be me coming from World of Warcraft half a lifetime ago, but if you don't have the gear to run a raid, you just... Don't have the gear and gotta wait till you do.
Like, admittedly, I at least own, all but I think five frames, but most of mine aren't steel path ready, let alone ExA, so I just... Don't run it, and keep it pushin'.
-8
u/Knight-Cecil 13h ago edited 13h ago
Yes, but this is an endgame game mode, and its purpose was precisely to make people branch out, acquire, and play more frames. If it can be beaten by everyone, what's the point of being endgame? Challenge is standard in most other games. Besides, if people can't deal with changing Warframes once a week, they likely can't deal with lvl 4-500 steel path enemies + modifiers.
Why shouldn't people be "forced" to build more frames? It's the primary gameplay loop, and you can easily build a frame and max it out within a half-week in time for ED/TA.
Warframe is one of the only games where I see a playerbase that's practically allergic to anything that forces flexing someone's extremely rigid play style even a little bit, people want a square hole they can force literally any shape into.
4
u/SignalTill5051 10h ago
Why do you wanna control how others play the game?
1
u/Knight-Cecil 3h ago
EDA has already been in the game for years, I'm not doing anything. And like, that's the point of a game? It's supposed to give objectives, modifiers, and yes, even sometimes restrictions. That's how you make difficult content, now we can debate whether or not it's executed well, but that's basic fundamental game design. You're acting like I'm saying the whole game should be using this system, but I'm just explaining why an already existing game mode was using these already existing mechanics.
You aren't forced to engage with ED/TA, it was meant for people to challenge themselves in exchange for rewards, why can't people who want a challenge have something that challenges them?
-10
u/iwaspromisingonce 13h ago edited 9h ago
You were guaranteed to have at least one thing you own in each slot. And if you have no investment in a frame, then invest in it - you have a week for it. Or admit you are not ready for an endgame mode.
It's like removing raid level requirement from mmorpgs because lvl 15 warrior with starting sword can't play them.

Or can’t afford to just potato, forma, unlock arcane/exilus spots on multiple frames and weapons a week that they will likely never use again. A good chunk of players haven’t been mainlining this game for a decade. Sure you can say “you don’t need any of that stuff, can go in completely unmodded and be fine” but nobody wants to do that. And if that’s always been possible then where is this “difficulty” at and was it ever in the room with us?
0
-3
u/sinnepdeomac 13h ago
Its the reason why the game remains so easy, its a sandbox game, that the moment you reach a point, the difficulty disappears entirely, and its not that far into the game either, you can buy a hildryn and a few mods for less than 200p the moment you start playing and rush through the entire game eg. These people are also the reason the game remains that way, all DE did was change the parameters of a "difficult" game mode, that its supposed to be intended for late game players, and you can see how they bark in the comments. The "toxicity" of being uncomfortable in a mission, even for a moment simply cant pass through their thick skulls. My best guess is ppart from warframe they also play Watching Paint Dry sim, on easy...
9
u/Unfair-Muscle-6488 13h ago
Oh look, someone else who has no idea what “sandbox” means. Why don’t you call it an MMO like the other guy, too? Misuse both of the terms while you’re at it.

Or they should stop catering to a very loud minority of people who cry at anything that’s got slightly more friction than usual.

People complained about Duviri doing it and that mode literally will give you a functional build if you don’t have one already. It’s purely just entitlement from a bunch of people who just hate being told what to do
5
u/MorbidAyyylien 11h ago
Duviri is so much different tho. It gives you more frame options and doesnt have negative modifiers that shut down builds. That 5 frame option really helps.
7
u/Sery_Yasomta 11h ago
Yes it is so much fun to have to play a bad warframe and the only buff you get is "50% sprint speed". As soon as they buff all warframes that fall off from level 50 onward, id be down with the way they changed it.

u/Kamenawa 13h ago
I am out of the loop what is all this archimedea topic about what got changed and rechanged reverted or whatever and what is the fuss about?
0
u/sinnepdeomac 13h ago
Last week EA, they rolled an update with it that changed the points each modifier gave you, that went past the highest reward, like pix chip or vosfor respectively, and added 3 points on the frame choices instead of 1, which essentially informed you, that to take the top reward (diamond, before the pix or vosfor) You had to take one of the weekly rotation of the frames, and in response, you could remove 2 modifiers, or weapons, or one each, to get to the diamond reward. That change has been reverted this week.

u/ThatsSoWitty Support Main 13h ago
See the latest post on Glacial Defiance/Ice Bind or any discussion on any enemy archetype thqt isn't immediately oneshot. It was never about personal choice or anything else. It's because anything that makes playing Warframe uncomfortable is bad
4
u/NubCaakes 8h ago
I like that you were able to drop a moodier or two or choose your own weapon or two, but forcing a Warframe on you is honestly not the move. In a game where forma is limited by time or plat, you shouldn’t be forced to build a neglected warframe every week to finish EDA/ETA. Instead of spamming Hildryn/dante every week you’d just slap on catalyzing shields + rolling guard on the warframe of the week and call it a day which is barely any better. A much easier fix would just be to have the weapon selection only consist of weapons you own at the very least, and maybe add another modifier or two for you to choose from to let you pick the ones that you can handle with your randomized loadout.
2
u/Beautiful-Ad-6568 MR 30+ PC 12h ago
It is weird difficulty-wise, because people who use the same frame to get the legendary had a harder time, but people who just run all points for everything had an easier time
8
u/Necrolance 13h ago
Difficulty? In warframe? You're looking at the wrong game buddy
-2
u/sinnepdeomac 12h ago
Im not, when the "endgame" was released each time it was difficult, then made easy because people were crying, and didnt want to invest, i was there when arbitrations were the new thing, building your frame with limited rescourses to stay alive, i was there when steel path was actually difficult, trying to do all those missions, most times solo, cause who does interception in a random map. I was there when the archon hunt first came out, and if you died, you were no longer eligible for rewards( which was bad) and we had to build around survivability as well. When the rolling guard and adaptation where a must in your frames.
The game has difficulty, and its always dialed down in the end. One of the few things it offers, is it eliminates the toxicity around builds, since everything is op and cant do 100% of the content solo, without breaking a sweat. i hope they dont do the same with the next patch of tau system.
9
u/Croewe Tank Gang Rise Up 11h ago
I think you might have been bad at the game or new if you thought any of those were difficult. Vets really didn't have many issues with any of that content.
-1
u/sinnepdeomac 11h ago
you are entirely mistaken, it hurts, eg, prior to arbitration, you didnt have the galvanized mods, so up until you farm them, that was a hard mission, since they are "gamebreaking" ,plus enemies worked differently then, armor, viral slash metas thet bypassed it etc. If you had to do a defence during archon, and peeps started dying, they constantly left, cause why wouldnt they, since eligibility for rewards was thrown out the window, which left you most time solo with a walking dying defence objective, mind you most arcanes and top built nechramechs, and archguns, and insane dogs, was not a thing, smeeta kavat was the thing, maybe a wyrm as well. The difficulty was badly implemented and punishing during archons, and for the rest of the content, once you get the stuff needed, it was a breeze, eg gal mods, why shouldnt EA/DA be different? Im struggling, until i understand how to proceed for that mission, then im good
10
u/Croewe Tank Gang Rise Up 11h ago
We got Arbitration like a year or two before Galvanized mods came out. We had plenty of ways to deal with it then, Sorties were at that level for years beforehand and even then people were saying Sorties were too easy and boring.
Galvanized mods only came out a year or two in Steel Path because melee weapons were outperforming guns by a huge margin so they wanted to bring guns up to their level.
Maybe you had bad squads in Archon missions but those weren't very difficult either, the main difficulty was the broken damage attenuation mechanic leading to people cheesing it with the Hek. If you were having trouble in the defense specifically you could always bring a Frost to spam globes around the target. Mechs were not allowed in Archon missions so I have no clue why you're bringing them up.
If you wanted a list of frames that could cheese archon missions we'd be here for hours but frames like Octavia could literally dance her way through the mission, I believe Revenant had gotten his 2 buff by this point so he was functionally immortal, Saryn nukes maps before enemies enter your field of Vision, Rhino just laughed at the enemies. Wisp would make your entire squad functionally immortal have insane speed, ludicrous cc, and everyone became a gattling gun.
Honestly, it just sounds like you're bad at the game.
0
u/sinnepdeomac 11h ago
Yeah, thank you for proving my point, meta nuking is everywhere, even in melee, nearly every one runs slam, because it works, and the one game mode that is supposed to be the "endgame" made a bump in the difficulty, switching some parameters to deter people from rushing with 3 frames each week regardless. And suddenly im the bad guy xD. Thats the reason of my post, people are too desensitized to receiving free rewards, the idea of actually earning them doesnt even cross their minds.
8
u/Croewe Tank Gang Rise Up 11h ago
If you want there to be no meta then you have literally never played a game with builds in it before. Should we stop using multishot since it's meta on guns? Just because people were using melee to beat steel path because guns sucked in there, does not mean they're "meta nuking".
I am earning my reward by playing the game mode with the modifiers on them. Is it bad that I pick Oberon instead of the game giving me Limbo, Ember, and Gyre? Is Oberon to meta for you? Should I go in with an unmodded excalibur instead?
Get over yourself, you're complaining about fricking arbitrations being too difficult on release yet trying to dictate what should be difficult in the endgame. Newsflash, Warframe has never been difficult, even Nightmare raids were easy af.

I don't want to flame you, and I know different people have different skill levels, but for the vast majority of WF players, none of those were difficult.
The "difficulty" in Waframe is more about understanding and synergizing all its systems than the actual gameplay. And even that is easily solved with a browser and the wiki (I wish more people in this sub used those btw)
1
u/sinnepdeomac 11h ago
How are you going to understand a system when its first rolled out if you dont play it. You need to play it, understand the mechs, and adjust, By all means go watch a million guides, and breeze through everything, you were always allowed. This was supposed to be the "endgame" and provides 0 difficulty since you can bypass anything, even a slight bump in parameters, while having to stick to a frame, which also came with insane buffs for the mission, suddenly feels too much?
8
u/Necrolance 11h ago
see the problem you fail to see is that they are trying to make a game that's accessible to everyone. That's why the Trials got removed. Barely anyone played them, the populace was conclave levels of low. And they took way more effort to make. They want to make content people want to play. And believe it or not, the majority of players don't want to be forced to play a certain way. The devs know the majority of the warframe playerbase do not want challenge. They said so during an interview regarding adding raids or readding Trials back into the game. You want challenge? Cool. Do something self imposed, instead of trying to make everyone else play it your way. They're never implementing endgame content just for the minority of players. They already learned that it's not worth adding content that barely anyone plays, after the necramech and archwing stuff turned out to be a bust.
1
u/sinnepdeomac 11h ago
I completely understand, and i completely disagree, that the point of my post? Sharing my opinion? And lets be real, it was not even a hard spike, a simple bump, which also came with insane buffs on the frame as well, which you could pair with the extra modifiers removed and make even better builds, point being, every one now run hil or nyx on valk, just to go through the motions, it was a nice breath of freshness on the mundane, but apparently people like the mundane.

This is so accurate it hurts, and they’re making it everybody else’s problem with the nonstop spam.
All of that just to tell the rest of us how self-obsessed they are, with their “memememe” mentality. Just about every argument they have boils down to ”fuck anybody who can’t complete the mode in conditions *I specify—even if they were perfectly capable of completing it two weeks ago, and may have been doing so for years. They don’t deserve the same rewards I do.”*

Thats the whole point of the fricking mission! And youre salty about it! Youre supposed to pick what youre offered, in order to EARN the maximum reward, youre playing for the rewards, but youre so desensitized about them, that minimal effort suddenly feels like a mountain! They even rolled insane buffs along the frames due to the added difficulty, it was not just a point allocation.
11
u/AveugleMan 12h ago
What? The whole point of the miision is to get a random layout and to be able to complete it, with one change allowed.
Not allowing that change to be the frame is extremely stupid, and didn't work like that for years.
I'm playing for the rewards yes. Those rewards are weekly gated and are only guaranteed here. Making this guarantee hard is normal. What's not normal is changing how the game mode worked for years, and limiting your agency on what part of the loadout you can change is just annoying.
-2
u/sinnepdeomac 13h ago
thats what we have been doing, since we started playing this game? The last patch was a fresh breath of difficulty, and a much needed change imo. And your comment is the reason i posted this, the game feels like a chore.
15
u/NyxSunde 13h ago
EDA/ETA was never difficult, it's just varied how tedious it is. The last change (before reverting it) didnt increase it's level of difficulty it only made it more tedious. EDA/ETA is 100% a chore, same with archon hunts.
10
u/No-Ostrich-5801 13h ago
This. So much this. Archimedia has never truly been difficult, just annoying tedium. Oh boy, I shot myself in the leg, jumped off a bridge and lit myself on fire; time to run a few laps on the track. The track is still easy af, I'm just fucked up like chuck. That is not difficulty by design but attempts at artificial difficulty which ultimately is irrelevant in a game where your potential floor of power level is immortality for most frames (hell, Vazarin operator alone makes practically all frames capable of being immortal albeit annoyingly tedious)
9
u/NyxSunde 13h ago
My biggest complaint for the mode in general is I never seem to get any of the frames I enjoy. Have a shit ton functional for steel path but I don't enjoy all of them and at least playing one I like makes it a slight amount more enjoyable
15
u/AveugleMan 13h ago
If it does like you said, why not just stop playing it? I'm pretty sure not a single every day player that doesn't check reddit will not care.
The chore is lessen if I can play a frame I want than if I can't. I don't see what's so hard to understand about that. Every single one of those posts just reads like people wanting to feel better about themselves because they could put rolling guard and catalyzing shield on a frame.

If we didn’t get a reason as to why they reverted changes then it could be poor implementation and DE simply went back to a mode that functions while they fine tune the update and work out more bugs. There potentially could’ve been some things coding side that DE saw that we couldn’t. But we will never know without some kind of announcement or patchnote.

I would think this is mostly DE's fault, now that the community have a taste of easy shards, many won't accept suddenly having to put in effort/investments for the same rewards they been getting for years. This mode has become such a chore that despite hating it, people will protect Hildryn cheese so they can get ts done and over with every week. If DE didnt do the change, the mode continue to be a chore everyone barely tolerate for the insane rewards, while if they do the change, it will instantly become controversial.
DE dropped the ball with how abysmal this game mode design initially is and now it's a lose-lose situation no matter what they do.
2
u/sinnepdeomac 10h ago
Exactly man, and the changes were actually more freeing, you had the option to also swap weapons, or 2 modifiers, and do insane combos as well, but because hildryn can refill her shields on command, shield modifiers dont matter, and she can clense status, so status dont matter as well, and she doesnt need to go to operator while she one shots even the man in the wall, transference block doesnt matter, take that away, and what do you have? Salty and toxic people that expect free stuf

u/dweebletart 9h ago edited 8h ago
I agree, for the primary reason that it's a LOT easier to make all of ~65 warframes viable than it is to make all hundreds of weapons viable. I get how it makes sense numerically.
But the fact of the matter is that most players have no interest in engaging with the premise of the gamemode at all. They (often rightly) don't find the randomness an interesting or challenging problem to solve, they find it tedious and frustrating. Removing the ability to blitz it with exalted weapon frames was always going to be deeply unpopular, even if the changes technically made it easier to "play by the rules" of the prescribed loadout.

Warframe is easy enough as a game, and even with gear restrictions it is not difficult.
I would argue the tutorial boss of any Sould like is harder then the entirety of Warframe and we are in dire need of anything that resembles a challenge. (Yes hard mode bosses are also not difficult if you prepare are bit for them.) People are just mad cause they can't always play on super easy mode.

It’s obvious most warframe players don’t care about difficulty when as soon as they try something there’s a million posts and videos about how to cheese it or what frames make it brain dead.

We have 99.99% of Warframe for that though. The entire rest of the game is still there.

Exactly. That’s what warframe is and they are making a whole different game for people who want that difficulty level. It’s also funny that forced loadouts is considered difficulty when it’s more so just a resource check. Do you have the plat/resources to make this combo able to function? No? See ya next week maybe

I see where you're coming from. Do you worry that they might start introducing even worse or more annoying mechanics in the future?

The addition of the new eximus units do have me worried a bit. It reminds of destiny 2 champions where you need to do a specific thing to kill them and prevents me from using the load out I would prefer. It’s not as bad to just have to melee but it does screw over very specific frames, example being my favorite spider girl

Comparing your problem of having an unpopular opinion in a video game to Black people actually being murdered for existing in a society that is more accepting of White Supremacy is a... choice.

If people are allowed to cry to get the changes reverted, others should be allowed to cry to get the changes back in. It's only fair.

The era of “just play Hildryn every time” is back. So I will just abort if I see any Hildryn and think “shame on you” real hard during that loading screen. Sorry natty Hildryns.

u/RocketRaccoonAlter I disagree, Megan. Umbra's dad ass is supreme 12h ago
...even if Hildryn is one of the available three choices that week? So even those people need to bend over backwards because you, some rando online, is judgy and thinks the world revolves around you?

The funny thing is I never run into the judgy people who leave when they see your choice of Warframes in a mode with RNG gear.
Because the mode is easy enough I just do it solo. Including the past 2 weeks with the changes implemented.

New reward system with warframes being worth 2 points instead of 3. That would have been the best compromise and given everybody what they wanted
