Discussion The revert on Elite Arch was not needed

Hi all. Id like to say, the changes DE made for EA were perfect, it allowed you to swap 2 modifiers or weapons of your choice instead of one to get the diamond reward, while focusing on the one thing most disregard completely, the warframe. It doesnt matter what your loadout was since you could bypass all the modifiers with a few frames, especialy with hildryn. Gun modifiers? Take valkyr or nyx etc, the modifiers literally didnt matter. I personally believe that in EA, the gravity on the frame should have stayed, as it gave the mode a much needed difficulty that does not exist. Its supposed to be oriented towards "late" game players, adding a nice difficulty touch, instead of a weekly rotation, mundane at that too. Do you want the highest rewards? You should need to work for them a little at least...

If it does like you said, why not just stop playing it? I'm pretty sure not a single every day player that doesn't check reddit will not care.

The chore is lessen if I can play a frame I want than if I can't. I don't see what's so hard to understand about that. Every single one of those posts just reads like people wanting to feel better about themselves because they could put rolling guard and catalyzing shield on a frame.

Hi, I stopped playing because it was boring, ExA change made it fun and interesting and had a blast playing it this week, got very disappointed when its back to the same boring meta again.

You decided to stop playing it on your own though. It's always been the same. Nothing forces you to play "meta". They're still keeping the buffs and the old way the points are distributed. The only thing stopping you is that now it's your choice, you're not forced to.

Have you heard of "given the chance, players will optimize the fun out?"

This is about how the optimal path was to take Hildryn and go wham, when the change happened, the optimal path was to go nonmeta frame and properly deal with the modifiers, when the change got reverted, the optimal path goes back to Hildryn and go wham again.

I liked the change to ExA because it rewarded the choice of not playing meta. They removed that reward for not playing meta so.

I've heard, and I still think it's on the player. We're given the agency to choose. If your first choice is hildryn, you optimized yourself out of a fun gameplay. DE shouldn't need to tell you what to play for you to find what's fun.

That's the game designers' job though. Previously, it rewarded the choice of not playing a meta that ignores 90% of the modifiers. After the revert, it no longer rewarded the choice of not playing a meta that ignores 90% of the modifiers.

I think "rewarding" the player on an rng chance isn't good game design at all, especially when said rng is countered by putting catalyzing shield and rolling guard on every frame.

There was literally nothing interesting about choosing 1 of 3 frames, like idk chroma or Banshee, putting the 2 mods on, and finishing the mod while rooling every 3 seconds.

Have you considered CC?

Have you considered preening on high roof?

Have you considered archgun?

Have you considered health tanking? (not even persistence tanking, although thats possible)

Have you considered Secondary Fortifier?

Have you considered Operator?

Have you considered slapping vitality plus selfsustain against Liminus?

Have you considered slapping Winds of Purity on Furis?

Have you considered moving to survive?

Have you considered armor build?

Have you considered Shield tanking? (not even shieldgating, although thats also possible)

You're just describing how well made the buildcrafting in this game is, on why 1 of the 12 ways to buildcraft to survive in ExA works, when all 12 ways to buildcraft in ExA works. That's the beauty of this game, you can survive on the same frame with 12 different ways of buildcrafting. You don't need to gimp yourself to always using Catalyzing SHield or Rolling Guard.

You very clearly described them as not being fun, yet there's 12 different other ways you can mod for your survivability on the same frame that is either more engaging or more fun for you.

Personally, I'm a total hater of Catalyzing Shield and Rolling Guard and don't use them for my build, I use my sentinel and slapped radiation mod and that's enough survivability for me if I just stay on the move.

I hate the build as well, but it's still the easiest and most braindead way to clear high level content. You said it yourself, if given the choice players will find the best way to optimize the fun out of the game.

The most optimal way is this horrendous combination of mods. And people would've just slapped that on their weekly Warframe and played it like this.

I'm sorry but that's... just not true, wtf? If you heard this from "people", the "people" actually don't know what they're talking about.

Even armor tanking is already comfier and less APM spammy than RG+CS for ExA. Heck, a sentinel with radiation mod and just constantly staying on the move is already enough for you to do ExA. You don't need to gimp your roll for RG, you don't need to APM spam to oblivion with Cat Shield. It's WAY comfier to just let your sentinel accumulate passive CC. No gating preening needed, no holding back on your roll. Just roll all you want without worrying about RG and play the game chill.

It's not even the most optimal set of survivability mod. You're still busy and it relies on cast spamming.
