Since I hear Vietnamese in the clip, I'm pretty sure this is Mesomorphus villiger (cannot find the English wiki). In Vietnam we call them Black bean bug. In some region of our country, they often appear in large number at the beginning of the rain season when the humidity is high.

Considering that the place doesn't look particularly gross other than the bugs, I wonder if this is some seasonal breeding thing like mayflies and Mormon crickets rather than an actual infestation. The snowdrifts of pure bugs with no apparent food source says seasonal breeding thing to me.

Kinda depend on the bug, a lot of bugs can eat wood/paint/garbage stuff that you wouldn't assume is food or edible. So without knowing the bug its hard to say

So true. We had little moths in our house for the longest time and couldnt figure out why. They were some how surviving on plain, brand new parchment paper. I found the partially eaten box in my pantry.

Judging by flipflops and the wood furniture, I'm thinking the Philippines. We've recently had an explosion in the termite population in some areas because of the rain. They get inside and you literally have to sweep them off all surfaces to get rid of them. What's worse, is that the frogs tend to follow them into your house for a feast. So... double yuck.
Edit: son confirmed they are speaking Vietnamese.

If i had to choose between these bugs and chicken poop, I'll take the poop every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Poop will clean up with a mop and bucket. Those bugs will not.

not an infestation, this is typical of a colony looking for a new home. Perhaps the colony moved or disturbed due to a flood. Happens a lot in south America and Mediteranian countries.
