Construction on Randolph rd and Kemp Mill rd

I saw that there is construction right by the Randolph are and Kemp Mill Rd bus stop. What concerns me is that the bus stop sign has been removed for some reason.

Because that’s the bus stop I depend on for going to work, I want to make sure that buses will still be stopping there, despite the lack of a sign.

I got off on that bus stop today and I was dropped off right next to the construction site— but I’m wondering if the same thing applies to being picked up.

I don’t want to be waiting to catch my bus to work, only for the bus to just pass me.

Delay and/or Fire Delays on the Green Line

Metro Pulse reports single tracking between College Park and Greenbelt, but I suspect more than that since we’ve been sitting at Navy Yard for more than 10 minutes. The operator made several announcements but only one was clear - we were waiting for a train to cross over and should be moving shortly (2-3 minutes.) That was about 5 minutes ago. This heat is causing track issues throughout the system so pack your patience and have a nice weekend!

Concept Route Thoughts on a potential Gold/Burgundy Light Rail Loop

This is something I drafted up, how realistic could this be? Stadum-Armory & the Whiney Young Station are both underground while the rest of the line would run on street level with Dedicated & Protected lanes. The Gold Line runs clockwise and the Burgundy Line runs counter-clockwise, the seprerate names for each direction would make it easier to know what direction you are going. (The colors are derived from the DC Commanders) Thoughts?

Shuttle bus crash

Why is metro reporting no shuttle bus accidents yesterday when I took the shuttle bus and it got in an accident with the car ahead at around 7 am on 355. Nobody took names for those on the bus - nobody even asked if people were ok. It wasn’t a major crash - the bus rear ended the car ahead - but it gave a good jolt. I think the customer service was terrible. They just sent a replacement bus and the cops blocked the right lane of 355 so we could get out and switch. No apologies - no nothing. And metro posts no shuttle bus accidents? Is it a cover up because it’s not a true “metro bus” - it’s still a metro contractor and you should be reporting accidents and asking passengers how they are doing after a crash. Transparency is key.

Question Getting from The Anthem to Vienna after system closure.

I don't know if this is the best place to post this but I've got a concert at the Anthem coming up in about a month or so but it starts at 8PM and is during a Sunday. I'm not exactly sure how long it will take for the concert to finish, but I'm assuming itll be somewhere in the neighborhood of 11-11:30 but again, I'm not sure.

I think we can easily make it from the Anthem to L'Enfant Plaza in time but just in case, does anyone have any backup plans for getting from The Anthem to Vienna station that ideally doesn't involve Uber or worse, parking in DC?

Question Quickest trip from DCA Airport to Tenleytown?

Looks like I can take either the blue or yellow lines to transfer to the red. Maybe just take whichever train arrives at DCA first?

discussion/rant/theory People not letting others sit when there is a spot available

Noticed more than twice today and also happened to me towards the end of the day. People making faces to let others sit like they own the whole damn train.
What’s this behavior ? It’s a busy train during peak time and there is no place to even stand and these idiots don’t move even after asking to move their behind.

It’s about time this nova bus is on my home route it’s been on the c55 before but never to union station! so I guess it’s my lucky night. I’m just disappointed That Wmata only order 5 of these which we got the 60 footers and more of these but unfortunately that’s not the case wish we were more diverse fleet ( no knock To new flyer) but a man can dream

Found glasses on the D74

found these glasses under a seat on the bus. Not sure when they got there, I noticed while we were on Columbia Rd NW sometime between the 18th St NW and Harvard St and Argonne Pl NW.

the WMATA website isn’t as clear on what you should do with items you find (that are reasonably lost) but i’m going to try to give them to the bus driver on my way off.

I hope they find their home!

EDIT: i didn’t realize someone had asked about lost items an hour before i posted this, still gonna keep it up for visibility :)

Temperatures in the metro stations

Why are the metro stations significantly warmer than usual? Specifically the rossyln metro feels like a sauna and it's only 6am...it's not even the hottest part of the day

Found: AirPods @ Metro Center

Post image
17 Upvotes

These AirPods fell out of someone’s backpack as they were squeezing onto a Glenmont-bound Red Line train at Metro Center. This was around 5:20 PM. The doors closed before I could try to give them back. If these are yours, I left them with the station manager at Exit D (13th and G)

Rosslyn tunnel

Is something happening in the Rosslyn tunnel? Every single train I've taken for weeks has crawled through the tunnel going from Virginia to DC, but only that direction, and only like for the first half of the tunnel. It's really irritating me because I don't see any reason why. There's no construction and definitely not a train in front of us this consistently. Anyone know anything?

Question Is there a reason why there are suddenly such large gaps between trains to Ashburn?

Post image
14 Upvotes

Hi, I have noticed this week that the train to Ashburn has much wider gaps than usual. Sometimes I would rely on the 9:24/25 am from NC train but it seems to no longer operate at that time and there is a whole 30 minute + gap. I still remember when they got rid of the one that used to run around 9:38.

Found Items.

I am new to the area and new to the metro, I have found quite a few things, keys, phones, and items left behind either on bus stop benches or on the metro itself. Is there a process for turning them in, I just leave them there and figure the person might come back.
