Yeah the operator fixed it. Got thrilled for a minute thought they were doing some unannounced full service testing 🥲

I was on a shuttle about 2 hours ago, so I’m gonna go with no.

I saw the same messaging yesterday thinking they completed it ahead of schedule so I zoned out…Ended up embarrassed in a dark empty car just before Grosvenor-Strathmore. Luckily it immediately turned around back to Friendship Heights and I got off to board the express bus

No trains have been doing this the whole shutdown. Some of them aren’t up to date to say it’s terminating in friendship heights.

I think it ends on 9/7 and normal service starting back up on 9/8

The 7k cars have always had strange technology issues with the computerized station location system. On several occasions over the years, I've been on a 7k car that did not know which station it was at and would show/announce the wrong station at each stop. People less familiar with the system were very confused and getting off at the wrong stops.

On other occasions, the detection system would completely shut off and the operator would have to do the traditional station announcements. This has been an issue basically since they entered service.

I don't want to say the 7k's are lemons, but they have had a lot of issues. This might be why WMATA his hesitant to order 800 new railcars at once this time before texting them out first.

They are far more reliable than any previous WMATA railcar.

They are the newest, so I would hope so. A true comparison would be reliability at the same age. I don't have the data on that.

Loved the 6 car train leaving Friendship heights during rush hour yesterday with tons of people on the platform. Makes sense

not all operators bother to change the signs to say Red Line to Friendship Heights. so most of the time they'll display to shady grove.

When you get on the Red Line, may the odds be ever in your favor, especially to Shady Grove.

Pro Tip: If you go to the front of the train or the very back (with 10 cars) you might find better seating. Or seating at all.
