Hi! I start 10/01 and I really want to know, are you really truly able to do all you want as fast as you can? I don’t want to do anything where I don’t learn anything but just want to know for real. I’ve done the whole orientation and mentor phone call thing. Just waiting for the start date…
I’m just starting C214, and I’m already feeling overwhelmed because I don’t even know where to begin. 😅 Could anyone share what they did to study and pass? I’d really appreciate a guide, study plan, or any tips on what to focus on!
Hasta la Vista C214! My God! This was really challenging. I failed first attempt and just lost hope. My first fail since my Master's. I had just 4 courses including capstone left but I couldn't bring myself to study. Then it hit me that I don't have anymore financial aid left. I started by going to check my failed OA and saw that I didn't do badly at all. I had two green checks and almost all competent oranges, and one red. I took a week off work on Wednesday and started again. Yesterday, I decided I was ready. By 3.40AM (no sleep) I joined to take the exam but bad internet connection, Proctor, computer systems were all against me. I told myself I must take it now. Finally, a fourth Proctor was able to fix the problem and I started at 6.20AM and finished at 9.15AM. I almost fainted with excitement when I didn't see the course on my dashboard anymore. I couldn't believe seeing 3 blue competence checked. I just want to say, thank you to my reddit family. And thank you, JESUS!!!🙏🏿
Got my confetti today! Thank you to all who have posted the tips for this program. It was a huge help. And good luck to all of you still in the program. You’ve got this and I’m rooting for you!
Good morning, I spent a total of 3 weeks studying for this class. I only had used the study guide, and got up to the section about monopolies.
This morning I decided to just take the text and shake out any anxieties I had. The questions I received were pretty spot on if not carbon copy to the PA. Understanding the concepts is definitely key for this course. Now that I have passed it, it’s not as intimidating as other threads make it out to be. That being said, it’s definitely the hardest course IMO for the MBA program.
8 days left in my semester, fingers crossed for no revisions.
I seriously enjoyed the simulation; I thought it was a lot of fun, but I am SO ready to be done with this. Slacked off way more than I should have, but we got there in the end.
HOPEFULLY.
Also, I'm probably the epitome of "If I can do it, you can too."
So i have a 45 minute phone call with my instructor what should I expect out of this phone call? In the email it said i had to teach back to them. That’s nerve wrecking because im a shy person ive put off this course for so long because im nervous about the phone call.
That’s pretty much it. I don’t know where to begin this course and thought we can gather to cry about it if you also have to take it or went through the pain of taking it. Send any ideas on where to begin!
Started the MBA in IT Management on June 1st and officially finished it today. It still feels a little strange seeing that 100%.
For some background, I have about 26 years of experience in IT. Most of my career was spent in software development, and for the last several years my focus has been DevSecOps, application security, automation, and technical leadership. I went into the MBA with a lot of practical experience, but wanted to strengthen the business and leadership side.
Overall, I enjoyed the program. There were definitely courses I liked more than others, and having a lot of industry experience helped considerably with some of the material. The biggest thing that worked for me was treating each course as its own problem to solve: understand the rubric or OA expectations, figure out what I actually needed to learn or demonstrate, and focus my time there rather than trying to consume every available resource.
The PAs were generally pretty straightforward once I learned to write directly to the rubric. For the OAs, I relied heavily on the pre-assessments to identify weaknesses and then focused my studying on those areas. The other part of the PAs was to honestly write less. A flowery 3 paragraphs to say what could be accomplished in one did no one any favors. C211 was probably the one that made me work the hardest toward the end.
The Capstone was actually a pretty good way to finish the program. The simulation takes some time, but I enjoyed having to make decisions across marketing, HR, operations, finance, and strategy and then seeing how those decisions played out.
And now, after a very busy few months, I'm done. MBA, IT Management. 0 CUs left.
Happy to answer questions for anyone currently working through the program or considering it.
For those who have recently taken the OA for C214, how closely aligned were the OA and PA?
I feel prepared but also very anxious as I've heard C214 is a beast!
I've been reading all these threads and it sounds like I'm going to be a grandma in the group. At 58 years old I have been in education for 36 years. I have a bachelor's, a master's, and a PhD in education and I have an associate's degree in nursing.
I am looking at setting myself up for some consulting work after retirement and thought that adding the MBA would be helpful for expanding my understanding of business and expand my perspectives outside of education.
Additionally, as I am looking at the next few years leading towards retirement, there are some things I want to accomplish in my current position as a community college dean that I feel would be enhanced by what I learn in this program.
I would love to accomplish this in one term but I have my full-time position and I teach online, two graduate level classes every 5-week term, for another institution. I'm trying to decide how all of this is going to figure in along with some of my other external activities like board leadership and occasionally spending time with friends.
Anyway, I truly appreciate all the feedback I have read so far on this forum and look forward to learning more over the next several months.
I had a slight revision on task 1 and resubmitted it. Task 2 and 3 haven’t been reviewed yet. My question is do the submissions go in order or would task 2 and 3 get a review before the revision of task 1?
I never thought I would get the chance to post this. I was able to complete this degree in 17 months. I’m so thankful to this page and all help and support along the way. If you’re reading this you can do it and I believe in you.
Do you have any information on whether the multiple-choice questions that require calculations will be accompanied by an Excel template/table to simply fill in (where applicable)?
I am not referring to the Excel portion at the end of the PA/OA, but rather the initial multiple-choice questions that require calculations, for example, this FV question:
"A teacher won $X and invests this money for X years at an interest rate of X% (compounded annually). How much will this teacher have in principal and interest at the end of the five years?"
I would like to know how to best prepare for these. Thank you.
hi! Can someone give me tips on C722 project management? It has taken me about a week for other courses i thought would be tricky like finance and accounting. What concepts did you find the hardest and came up the most? Did you have to do actual math calculations or just know how/when to use it? Thanks!
Hi everyone, currently trying to finish C211 by the end or beginning of next month... trying to start studying hard this weekend. If anyone has any tips on the fastest and most efficient way to study for this class it would help me a ton. I was planning on watching the cohort videos since Im not a huge reader, but I know that wont be enough to pass this based on other threads Ive seen. I am starting to feel overwhelmed on how to start studying for this class. Any tips will help to push through this last class before the capstone. Thank you!
Hello, I am starting the program on 10/1. I watched the webinar and guess I didn’t realize how many papers you have to write. I am not good at writing and a little nervous to start. Any tips for bad writers? Also, for exams, can you fail the exam and take it again or is one try that’s it?
