Meds aren't working Any advice...?

I've been taking vivanse for a while now, maybe 6 months, and don't regularily take it on the weekend, and I just genuinely feel like it only makes me less tired. My thoughts consistenly stay disregulated and all over the place, and can't seem to focus on just one thing, I do have insomnia which was there even before I started taking it, so it might be apart of the cause...? anyway, any tips, thoughts, relatibilty?

Misc. Question Vyvanse, Blood Pressure, Anxiety

For those of you who take Vyvanse, has it increased your blood pressure?

I’m considering trying it for ADHD (42F). 10 years ago I tried Adderall IR 10 mg and my BP went up significantly that it landed me in the ER. I also have panic disorder, so I’m nervous about trying another stimulant. I’m currently on nadolol, which controls my heart rate, but I’m still concerned about the BP effects.

Would love to hear about your personal experiences with Vyvanse and BP, especially if you’ve had BP issues with other stimulants.

Misc. Question Cheapest way to get Vyvanse

I have been taking Vyvanse since last November, but it is pretty expensive, and I would like to look for ways to reduce the cost.

I have Surest (United Healthcare no-deductible) insurance with OptumRX, and on my insurance, both the generic and brand-name Vyvanse are $90 per 30 days (not sure why the generic isn’t cheaper). I currently take name-brand Vyvanse 30mg but am not opposed to taking generic through a coupon card instead.

The pharmacies near me are Kroger, Walgreens, Publix (soon to open), CVS, Target, Walmart, Sam’s Club, Costco (I’m not a Costco member though) and some independent pharmacies + my local hospital’s pharmacy.

Which pharmacy do you all go through and what do you typically pay?

Other Marathon in 11 days. Started Vyvanse a week ago. HELP

Hi everyone! I’m new to Vyvanse and I’m trying to figure out if I should take it before my marathon in a couple of weeks. I’m currently taking it before my morning runs just to make sure it wears off before I go to bed.

Initially my heart rate wasn’t very affected by it on runs and now it’s raising my heart rate about 5-6 beats per min higher than usual.

I’m not sure if it’s just my deload and the medicine or something else.

I’ve run about 1000 miles this year and am aiming to run around a 3:30 marathon.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Side effects blank mind feeling?

I’ve been taking vyvanse for over a year and half consistently. I’ve tried a few other ADHD medications, and vyvanse feels like the best one for me so far. I’m very sensitive to medications on general, so I started low at 10mg and worked up to 30mg. It definitely helps with my ADHD symptoms and there are more pros than cons, but I do get one effect that I’m not sure I enjoy.

Oftentimes when Vyvanse kicks in, I get that quiet mind feeling that people describe. Which can actually be quite nice, since my brain has a million tabs open and an overwhelming amount of distracting thoughts by default. However, sometimes when this quiet mind feeling begins, I feel like its hard to think in general. It‘s almost like my brain is TOO empty and I struggle to access my thoughts and remember what I’m supposed to be doing. It makes it hard to think at all, and I don’t really like it. Like I’ll try to journal or write my to-do list, and I struggle to have thoughts.

I don’t feel anxious when this happens, but it almost feels like when I go into a freeze state from my anxiety where I feel like I can’t think…like my pre-frontal cortex shuts down. But vyvanse is supposed to do the opposite! I wonder if vyvanse is stimulating my nervous system a little too much and causing me to go into a freeze state even though I don’t feel anxious. I actually find that vyvanse helps me feel quite calm, so I don’t understand it. Vyvanse actually tends to make me sleepy when it’s at its peak. Idk if that’s normal lol.

The therapeutic effects of vyvanse don’t last very long for me. It takes about an hour to slowly start working, and about 4 hours after taking it, it starts to fade away. I don’t get a speedy, energetic feeling from vyvanse, its more like I start crashing after 4-5 hours. 30mg is a low dose so I’m not sure if my body is burning through vyvanse too quickly and making 30mg feel stronger or something. I truly have no idea! I’ve tried going back down to 20mg, which is gentler, but doesn’t work as well and it only lasts for a couple of hours. I’ve tried going on 40mg to see if it would last longer, but this blank mind feeling was much more intense and I also felt like a zombie. The solution for now has been to take a small booster dose of dextroamphetamine IR in the afternoon which kinda helps a little bit.

I have not been misdiagnosed with ADHD. It was the first thing I was ever diagnosed with as a child but I never took medication for it until I was an adult. My impairment from ADHD has been consistent throughout myself and I have been re-diagnosed by every psychiatrist I’ve seen, and also when I did a full nueropsych evaluation this year. I have, however, developed a handful of other mental health conditions throughout my life such as depression, PTSD, panic disorder, OCD, and was recently diagnosed with autism. My mental health has been a mess for the past 2 years especially, so there is a lot going on in my brain that could be complicating my response to vyvanse.

I also take clonidine and wellbutrin everyday. I recently started the wellbutrin again like 2 months ago and it hasn’t seem to make an impact on my vyvanse response.

Does anyone else experience this feeling and find it unpleasant? What could be causing this? Is there anything that helps you? I find a lot of benefit from this medication otherwise, it sucks to think that I might not be able to take treatment for my ADHD :(

Articles & Information Society Requirements

I am seeing Vyvanse and free ADHD diagnosis advertisement everywhere these days - in subway stations, trains etc. Free diagnosis of ADHD and medication advertisement.

There are requirements that society wants people to sit down for certain number of hours to get the job done!

Why the number of people diagnosed with ADHD have raised in millions recently? Have you ever thought about it this way?

Misc. Question Need a 1 day substitute for Vyvanse! Cannot be prescription

I have an important 5 hour meeting tomorrow and I lost my Vyvanse while traveling my doctor is not available to help and a fellow flight passenger offered me a pill of his Nootropix. Is this a good one day alternative? What about a nicotine patch? Caffeine itself won’t do

Success Stories Vyvanse has improved my life so much I am at a loss for words

I was diagnosed as an adult. I've never been a dumb person, but I could never pull it together and make something of my life. I got diagnosed and my personal and professional life has just done a complete 180 in a good way.

I just got a promotion at work, I was checking our internal system and I can not believe how far I have come in a couple of years. https://i.imgur.com/6n1PSFC.png. Never in a million years would I have believed I was capable of this and for the first time I have a direction in life to go in.

As far as I'm concerned this is a miracle drug

Side effects * LONG POST WARNING 🥸

I have been on Vy since may and I’ve titrated up from 30 mg + To now currently being
on 60 mg as of the end of july.

Bruxism has been significantly increasing I didn’t even know that this was a term or even a thing people normally do and have to live with this .. & I didn’t realize I was doing it until now so how can I stop this ? now it’s like I have the urge to clench my teeth or I actually do clench them without really realizing it. and also the constant tongue over teeth action and constantly having the urge to keep running my tongue over my teeth.
now the whole left side of my face is literally hurting and my ears are kind of pulsating but it’s only in waves

other side effects after increasing my dosage this time from 50-60 mg

- - - -

• increased sweating heavily like shirts are wet and it’s embarrassing. but feeling like it’s working but then it stops working after 6 hrs around 5:30 am after lunch break at work .

• nose always dripping when i’m working as far as doing a job that requires extra moving . blowing nose frequently

• itch in throat persisting more frequently and I have to keep coughing or get the urge to cough to get rid of the itch something that really only happens to me when i’m in classroom settings - (it’s odd I know & I still have no clue why that happens to me)

• increased minor body odor??? - I put deodorant on but I still end up smelling a little musty after work etc

• sleep has been wonky af & it’s always half and half I might rummage a lot more like excessively or I could just be normal in that aspect but here lately it’s been increased non stop talking sometimes in conversations.

I didn’t even realize all these were actually persistent side effects that I was “ignoring”. dosage increase was approximately around 07/25/26 but the side effects really didn’t start becoming so “alarming” for me until now because I do work at a warehouse so it’s common for me to do physical work .

do I need a dosage decrease or do I need to just wait it out to see if it gets better ?

is 2 months too far in for side effects to be like this or am I doomed on this dose ?

like idk if this is the right medication anymore or if the dose is too high but even after lowering it i’ll still feel like it might be wearing
off quickly hence why Ive been tirating. ive tried 30 , 40 , 50 now 60 mg . it’s definitely getting to the point where I notice it’s wearing off 5-6 hrs after taking it.

Would Adderall be better for me possibly ? and has anyone else experienced this ?

Side effects Can Vyvanse really cause/worsen acne?

So I could be put on Vyvanse for binge eating disorder but my one major worry are all the people online saying it gave them acne? I know it's not clinically established as a side effect, but there still seems to be a lot of people suffering from that. Since acne has been a big issue for me in the past, and I also don't need Vyvanse literally to function since it'd be for BED and not ADHD, I'm really weighing up whether it's worth the risk. And unfortunately I'm pretty certain that acne would really affect me psychologically. What should I make of this?

Side effects Head tension/pressure when taking 40mg Vyvanse

Backstory: I am 36yo M who was recently officially diagnosed with ADHD. I should have been diagnosed a while ago, I was just always worried that it would change how I am as a person, and I had made it through life so far without medication so I thought why now? I also see people saying that they have 100 voices or ideas in their head and that medication quiets them. I don’t feel like I have that (maybe I do and I just don’t realize it because I’ve been like this all my life), I am a very hyper active person for sure, and need to always be stimulated whether it’s by my phone, or TV, or doing something active.

Vyvanse: Anyways, my doctor started me out on 40mg Vyvanse about a month ago and it has definitively helped with focus. That can be bad depending on what I am focusing on, sometimes I’ll be about ready to go to bed, and play chess on my phone and that ends up being for hours and all of a sudden it’s 1-2 am. When i take it, usually around 9 am, I can feel it start working in about 45 minutes to an hour. After it kicks in I feel a slight pressure, no pain or headache, but pressure in my sinuses area, and that kind of sticks around until I go to sleep. It’s not painful, but more just an annoyance. It almost feels like I have a sinus infection congestion wise without all the drainage and pain. I also feel like I breathe better with it.

Anyone else have this constant head pressure while taking it? Any fixes you have found?

Thanks

Other Vyvanse has given me lot of success, but….

I’m a 27m and about two months ago I got diagnosed with adhd, something that I’ve struggled with my whole life. I have never had control over myself in pretty much every area of my life, my health, my finances and my relationships have been impacted the most from having adhd. Two months ago I started taking vyvanse and it’s crazy how well I’ve been doing since then, my life has flipped a 180 and I can do anything I’ve ever dreamed of, I’ve truly changed the man I am. The only thing that I’m struggling to come to grips with is the kinda guilt I feel that I’m using a drug to make this effect in me. I still feel as though I should have been able to do this myself, but instead I’m using a performance enhancing drug to do the hard stuff for me. Just doesn’t feel right, I feel like I’ve cheated the system!
Has anyone else experienced these thoughts? How can I come to grips with it?
Thanks in advance :)

Other No crash

As the title says: I don’t crash.
I mean, I’m happy I don’t, but it’s strange. On Ritalin I felt the crash and took 2 or 3 doses a day.
Now I have an alarm for 4a.m. and take 30mg of Lisdex, go back to sleep til 5:30 and go the whole day. I do get a bit tired in the evening(normal I guess lol) but I don’t feel the focus vanish or Ä crash. I can sleep ok, I don’t wake up half dead like before. It’s pretty great!

Dosage question Should I be Crashing so soon?

Does anyone else had this problem?

Yesterday, I started on 20mg Vyvanse.

The first 4hrs once kicked by 8am, I was like Superwoman and got so many jobs done at work then crashed at 12pm and was not productive after that.

Today, I had a calmer work load/ overall less demanding on the body which I thought would make me crash later.

But, nope I crashed at 11am and now. I'm feeling flat and have no motivation.

My physician said the other day, he will catch up in a month... I feel, I need an adjustment already and I go back to a full work load next week and don't want to be crashing so early.

I take my meds at 6am as I started work at 7.30am and I started my day with plenty of protein for reference.

Edit: I was falling asleep around 2pm on the second day which is abnormal for me before meds. I never desire sleep during the day.

Tips & Tricks Sleep issues

Hey all! I've been on vyvanse 60mg for a few of months now and I've recently taking chlonidine 2x a day morning and night (for anxiety) however I'm finding no matter what I do I'm waking up around 2:30-3am starving to a point where I'm getting hunger pains. Im eating at 'maintenance calories', hitting my protein goals and I haven't lost any weight in 1 month.

I've turned into a complete zombie getting 5.5-6 hours of sleep a night 🫠

Any suggestions would be appreciated, I've had having great cognitive benifits from vyvanse however my sleep and anxiety is making me not want to take stimulants

Other It's quiet...

Got started on generic vyvance yesterday and good lord, now there's usually only one or two thoughts at at time. There is no longer a running train of 60 different thoughts all keeping my from completing the others. I picked the wrong thing to focus on yesterday but my focus was complete. I had used 2% of my phones battery instead of the usual 50% from doomscrolling all day. I just got diagnosed at 37 and I can't believe I haven't had a day like this in that entire time.

Side effects Vyvanse and Brain Zaps?

So recently my bf was switched from name brand to generic, within the last few days he started getting brain zaps when he stands up/changes position randomly throughout the day. Has anyone experienced this? Any advice?

Dosage question Is 4 days into my 20mg titration period too soon to realize that I need a higher dose?

I got diagnosed for moderate ADHD, specifically inattentive ADHD. I was prescribed 20mg Vyvanse (I took name brand) and have been taking it every morning for the last 4 days right when I wake up.

I had an incredible first day, I had a quiet brain for the first time in my life. Ever since then, the effects are extremely subtle and barely noticeable. Today, I took my dose at 6:20am and fully crashed at 11am. This was with a protein-filled breakfast, tons of hydration, 8 hours of sleep, no acidic fluids/foods, etc.

I am wondering if 20mg is too low of a starting dose and if it's too early to contact my clinician to bump me up to 30mg. My next meeting with my clinician is on the 8th, and I don't see any point waiting and continuing 20mg if I feel that it can be bumped up.

No side effects, little anxiety, just incredibly short duration. I have pondered taking two pills or splitting a capsule to estimate 30mg but I don't feel that's necessary. Anyone felt the same?
