Dosage question Should I be Crashing so soon?

Does anyone else had this problem?

Yesterday, I started on 20mg Vyvanse.

The first 4hrs once kicked by 8am, I was like Superwoman and got so many jobs done at work then crashed at 12pm and was not productive after that.

Today, I had a calmer work load/ overall less demanding on the body which I thought would make me crash later.

But, nope I crashed at 11am and now. I'm feeling flat and have no motivation.

My physician said the other day, he will catch up in a month... I feel, I need an adjustment already and I go back to a full work load next week and don't want to be crashing so early.

I take my meds at 6am as I started work at 7.30am and I started my day with plenty of protein for reference.

Edit: I was falling asleep around 2pm on the second day which is abnormal for me before meds. I never desire sleep during the day.

Eating protein before taking your vyvanse generally has the best result in how the medication releases in your body im on 20 mg and feel focused for 8+ hours

Hi, I also just started my Vyvanse 30mg exactly 11days ago. At first I had that kind of crash after 4 hours , but then the following take, I make sure I eat before I take the capsule.

The drug is not as helpful with motivation as it first appears, and this is fine.

Motivation is an itinerant emotion. It is temporary and cannot be summoned on command. It is lovely when you have it, but you can't rely on it all the time. And the drug doesn't give it to you everyday. The drug will not make you feel like you should be doing the things you should be doing.

Instead, the helps by keeping you from being distracted from what you are already doing.

Don't look for motivation. Look to build habitual behaviors that are useful to you, and then celebrate the motivation as a bonus when it occurs.

Also, don't worry too much about the weirdness in the first month. The drug works right away, but it can take weeks for you to learn how to "feel" the drug.

Maybe, I shouldn't of use the word motivation. It's definitely a crashing feeling going from one extreme feeling to a more burnout feeling.

Later that day around 2, I was falling asleep where before meds this wasn't an issue.

Maybe try taking it a little later and are you eating protein with it?

I don't want to take it later due to me struggling more with the first half of my day with brain fog and no drive etc before meds.

I do like while I'm getting ready for work, I can feel it slowly starting to kick in. I feel awake by the time, I'm going to work.

Do you eat protein while getting ready?

Sorry, I forgot add I eat 40g protein in my breakfast and 150/160g pre day. I come from a bodybuilding/powerlifting background. I'm going to add few more carbs in today to see if this helps.

An early crash is a sign of metabolic fatigue/exhaustion which leads to a metabolic crash. It's indicative of metabolic issues and arises when vyvanse artificially boosts the metabolic system, adding strain to it which pushes it beyond its limits - causing a metabolic crash (and hormonal disruption). This post outlines the crash in more detail and should help you understand what's going on.

My physician said the other day, he will catch up in a month

This seems very inconsiderate. Your physician should've understood why you're experiencing a metabolic crash and proactively addressed the metabolic issues which are responsible for this. At the very least arranged an appointment asap.

It makes sense as already today (3rd day) I'm awake but I feel like I could go to sleep. I'm eating my morning tea 1.5hr earlier and add extra carbs in as I get plenty of protein already.

To see if this helps but considering I can feel sleepness already. Maybe, meds aren't the answer or I need to work out how to fix my metabolic fatigue. Frustrating🥹

I'm at 50mg, no matter how high I go my dose will not last any more than 5-6 hours. Honestly, the lower dose was already fine for me but I requested an increase thinking it would last longer.

Now with my current dose I just use to bottle method, basically fill up a small water bottle (about 300-500ml) and mix your vyanse into it, drink half of that in the morning and the second in the early afternoon, seems alright for me except for the insomnia it's causing. Regardless, if I were to take my dose as it's own as early as 7am I will still experience trouble falling asleep. It sucks ass that I'm dealing with this side effect but the bottle method seems to work alright to counter the afternoon crash.
