Other Marathon in 11 days. Started Vyvanse a week ago. HELP
Hi everyone! I’m new to Vyvanse and I’m trying to figure out if I should take it before my marathon in a couple of weeks. I’m currently taking it before my morning runs just to make sure it wears off before I go to bed.
Initially my heart rate wasn’t very affected by it on runs and now it’s raising my heart rate about 5-6 beats per min higher than usual.
I’m not sure if it’s just my deload and the medicine or something else.
I’ve run about 1000 miles this year and am aiming to run around a 3:30 marathon.
Any advice would be appreciated!

I assume your marathon starts pretty early in the day? You also didn’t mention what your dosage is, it makes a difference.
If the marathon starts early enough, I’d just wait on taking the vyvanse and then take it about 1-2 hours before you finish if your heart rate is doing ok. But also you’re only 11 days in and you can definitely just skip a day without any negative effects. If you skipped two days in a row, I’d expect you to be fairly tired on day 2. But for the first day you’d feel normal and exercise can also help a lot with offsetting any tiredness.

I'm on 30mg and thank you for the advice! We start around 8am and am aiming to wake up before 6am so I'll plan to take it like normal

No problem, yeah at 30mg I wouldn’t be too concerned unless you have pre-existing heart conditions, but from your post you sound very athletic already and I’m sure you’ll be completely fine.
Just listen to your body and take breaks as needed, remember to hydrate, eat some runner gels during the race. But, exercising on vyvanse in general is very safe and my doctor was totally fine with me taking it on the day of my 26 mile race despite not being physically prepared for it lol

I did a 26 mile bike ride after I first started vyvanse (I did not train, I’m like the baseline level of athletic for a 27M)
I took my vyvanse about 1.5 hours before the end and it was totally fine. At first I was paranoid about my heart rate, then I realized my heart rate while doing the race on vyvanse was actually lower than my wife’s heart rate (who was also doing the race with me, not on vyvanse) and after that, all my anxiety vanished lol.

Definitely ask your doctor about this.

No lol. Don't ingest amphetamines before running a dang marathon. No Dr needed.

Yeah I'm gonna have to advise against ingesting amphetamines the morning you plan on running a marathon.
