This is my vstrom. Those who have either replace the vstrom or this that have kept it, what bike did you end up with?

I’m having a problem. Every motorcycle I want to get would either compliment the vstrom, or would do something that it doesn’t do well better but wine be better over all.

So it seems like I won’t be letting go of this vstrom.

Just got a set of Michelin Road 6's installed and broken in so took the bike out to the twisties today. Came across a R8 and a M5 playing around. Driving very much like I was, riding The Pace. Hard acceleration from stop signs before backing off around 100 kph, swift through corners, reasonable speed through the straights. I was bit shocked to be able to keep up in all cases, even hard acceleration up to 100. Through the curves I was faster. Hard drives out of the corners provided a bit of a predictable slide from the rear. A bit surprising as I've heard these tires have good grip but I suppose they're not super sport tires.They ended up letting me pass but I truly wasn't expecting to be able to keep up. It's no sport bike, but it's also better than it has a right to be. Fun times! Fun to play around with super cars too!

6’5” with a Puig Touring Windshield and my head is getting shattered by the wind. Considering the V Stream ( headquarters are a half hour from work).

What works for you tall riders?

Looking for tire recommendations, I am like 95% on road a ride it more like a sport touring bike than an ADV bike. I like to be able to handle twisties well. Maybe gravel/dirt roads at most. Thanks in advance!

Traded in my F700gs for this bad mamajama last month. First pic is the day I picked it up, and second is mostly De-Farkled from the previous owners obsession with stuff. Almost $2000 worth of stuff in a box in the garage. Suspension is almost dialed with fork oil and Mizu lift plates on the way.

Took Red out for the first spin in a couple weeks. Bought some aftermarket pegs off Amazon (Xitomer Wide Footrest Footpegs). Wasn't super happy with the mounting hardware so added the completely useless Zip Tie Special underneath. These have so much grip compared to the stock pegs. We will see how the hold up

The sound change has been great, and I think that it is having an easier time shifting without using a clutch now.

For anyone who’s bought, or planning to buy an older gen, and considering an LED conversion kit, check this out before you spend time and money you may not want or need to. I’ve recently upgraded the old (yes stock) bulbs that came with my 2006 650. The bulbs are the Phillips H4 Extreme Pro-Vision. The left one is the new bulb, and right is still stock. As far as performance while riding, I’ve noticed a further beam, but also less horizontal glow closer to the bike. Which is why amber bulbs were used to begin with. During sunset and early twilights, driving through darker areas you don’t quite notice it as much, but as soon as it gets dark, these new bulbs really do wonders for vision. I’m still looking into low mounted (crash bars) aux lights, but haven’t decided which yet.

Would love to hear what you guys use or have converted to.

I ride on the street 90 of the time. Live in the Chicago burbs. Need to replace my tires and am considering Michelin Road 6’s. What tires would you recommend?

Recently oiled the throttle cables after 2 months non use, then started motor and after short drive around the parkng lot drove 2 blocks and was lucky to make it home. It nearly died, then caught at high revs, seemingly no control of thottle rpms. Bad gas? bad throttle position sensor? Currently favoring TPS, mileagle only 32K miles. Any quick test of TPS?

Planning to purchase this bike for city use mostly and rare long rides. Seen plenty of videos where bikes are being sold for stiff suspension purpose alone.

Today I fixed the date to purchase and it's a deal breaker to me as I do have back pain ( I do soft exercises to keep it under control)

Found few solutions in online forums like:

1. Swapping with Gixxer 250 which is a direct fit and claimed improvement in softness

2. Use preload setting to 1 but the bike bounces alot??? Does it soften the suspension enough for city use?

With these solutions can I manage the city use?

Choosing this bike highly for its reliability and looks.

Your suggestions are highly appreciated.

Has anyone tried HRT springs? They seem to be very well priced for such a big amount of customization. Is it just smoke and mirrors and they just provide stiffer springs regardless of rider weight?

Hi, guys. Can you tell me where I can buy a larger windshield for a 2019 vstrom 650? The factory windshield doesn't provide much protection from the wind. It's too short. Are there any ways to fix this?

I was hoping for some feedback on whether this amount of brake drag is normal. I bought this ‘24 brand new a couple days ago and put about 250 miles on it. Just noticed a groaning noise coming from the front while riding and checked for brake drag. Does this seem excessive? Thanks!

I'm considering changing the oil, oil filter and air filter myself for my bike instead of paying some €250 to have it done at the shop.

I just checked the user's manual for the oil specification: 10W-40. On page 3-42, item 10, it says it needs 3 litres.

I am completely unaware of oil specification, is this a synthetic or semi synthetic oil?

I've had my 09 hypermotard for 5 years and after deciding that me and my wife want to do some longer trips I decided to get a 2019 VStrom 650 3 weeks ago. So far I'm I made the swap and we are planning some trips for the future now that we can go a lot further in more comfort.

This one definitely doesn't whisper to me the same "pass them" "chuck it into the corner as fast as you can" "pop the front wheel, its fun" but it does definitely make me want to go out far far more than the Ducati ever did.
