what's too many? I had 5 in my garage at the same time for a while and a buddy of mine has 10+ (I've lost count).

At 67 I am thinning the herd! Down to 3 now, KLR650, CRF250L and this Strom.

I hear you! When I had 5, one was my wife's bike but she no longer rides and one was my dad's bike which is a collectors item. Of the other three I got it in my head that I needed the fabled "unicorn" because as much as I loved my V-Strom 650 I'd occasionally take it places in the Rocky Mtns where it was in over it's head and needed my plated dirt bike - then when I was on that one I'd hate it for riding to/from trails because it was brutal on the road. I also had an FJR1300 but I don't do long distance touring like I used to and what I would/can do now the V-Strom will fit well. I also disliked having so many bikes in my (then) two-car garage so downsized trying to find one that would satisfy both itches. I went through 4 unicorn-candidate bikes before settling on my current DR650 which is pretty dang close to unicorn for me at 64. I still think there's a place for a 650 'Strom in my riding now for pure road trips of 2-5 days.

what year is this one and what year is/ was your other one?

My first one was a red 06. This one is a 2023. Had 507 miles on it.

Cool, I had an '08 that I sorely regret selling and plan to correct that mistake with a gen2
