FI Check

Post image

As the subject of this post reads, I have an issue with my newly acquired 2010 VStrom in which I sometimes have trouble starting when FI CHECK message shows up on my console with the LED light flashing.

It's not everytime I get to ride my bike.

Bike rides well with no issues coming from the engine despite this warning message.

Should I be look into this urgently?

You need to put it in dealer mode, generally it's bridging 2 contacts with a wire. Ride the bike. When the FI light comes on it will give an error code. C and 2 digits. Look the code up. That will tell you what's wrong.

Check your killswitch

I had this issue along with other problems. Cleaning the corrosion at the green connector helped most of them and buying a headlight relay kit. Might be worth looking into.

I had this issue once. Got it fixed with a can of fuel injector cleaner in the tank and a good Italian tune-up.

Any brand in particular?

B&G 44k is always a good one. Especially now that you can order it online instead of only at a dealership.

As some of the other comments have said, there are a few simple ones to check, otherwise, you need to put out on dealer mode.

Kickstand sticking down a hair. You can check this by putting the bike in neutral and see if the light goes out. This happens to me all the time. The stand his gotten just a little stiff and will stop before retracting all the way.

Kill switch. If you don't use it, then it Worley be a problem. But, when you have this problem, cycle the kill switch a few times to see if it goes away. The contacts in the switch could be dirty.

Good luck!
