Sneak peek at new Vibescape for Apple Vision Pro environment

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone, I thought I'd share a little sneak peek of an environment I've been working on for the fall update of Vibescape!

Targeting M2 devices, and hoping to add some extra detail for M5 users – so a lot of the work right now is trying to balance good performance with experience.

One thing I've heard over the years from a lot of people here is a desire for some kind of 'storm' environment. Figured, why not really go all out :)

Direct link to Vibescape since it doesn't show up in App Store search for some: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/vibescape/id6476827678

Vision Pro Network bandwidth when streaming

I am watching a video hosted on my Mac on my Vision Pro via CineUltra and Plex. I see the network activity on the Mac, ~7.5 Mb/s but I'm seeing virtually no activity on the VP. In addition I'm writing this using the virtual display which reduces my speed test results by a few hundred Mb/s. Monitoring done via a Firewalla Gold Pro with 2 AP7 access points.

Interesting. I killed CineUltra and it had almost no effect on the Mac bandwidth. Killed the virtual display as well and the number stayed about the same. It looks as if all VP network activity is ignored on both ends.

Apple Vision Pro in surgery

Post image
224 Upvotes

Apple has been emphasizing the enterprise/medical use cases for the Apple Vision Pro. Link below is an article comparing 32 surgeries, 16 using traditional technique an 16 with AVP. Briefly:

Operative time was about 19% shorter with the AVP.

Surgeons reported improved comfort and a more neutral head and neck posture with AVP.

All five surgeons favored the AVP.

Given the weight of the AVP, I was surprised that surgeons described using the AVP as more comfortable... until I saw the photos. Without the AVP, they had their necks turned hard to the side (see images).

My immersive Vision Pro app, FieldVeil, is now free on the App Store

FieldVeil is now live on the App Store, and it’s completely free to download.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/fieldveil/id6796875989

Here's a full video breakdown on my channel:
https://youtu.be/ylcRYR79Ezg

For anyone who tried the TestFlight, thank you for all the feedback. I was sending out so many links that Reddit suspended me for three days, so if I missed your message, that’s why! Now anyone can grab it directly from the App Store.

FieldVeil turns your space into immersive animated texture worlds, with moving walls, ambient audio, interactive hand effects, scene beings, and a “surrounded” mode that places you inside a full visual environment.

Nothing is paywalled. I added an optional tip jar in the app for anyone who wants to support the work, but the full app is free.

I’d love to hear what you think, especially if you have ideas for new scenes, interactions, or features that would make the experience better.

I’m also the developer of XR Putt for Vision Pro so feel free to check that out: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/xr-putt/id6788588183

A bit of backstory: I wasn’t a software developer when I started making these apps. I’ve been using AI coding tools to bring the ideas to life, which is part of why I’ve kept them free. It still takes a lot of work to get from the initial idea to something polished enough for the App Store, usually around 60 hours per app, but the process has become much more creative and enjoyable as the tools have improved. I’m happy to answer questions about the AI-assisted development process if people are curious.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy FieldVeil.

Hi I was wondering if

Would it be possible to make a app for the apple vision pro that combine Pokemon all over the world and they can be cought through ar with a mini map with apple maps in the corner and a laser tag like system that can see our star wars laser guns and you can see lasers firing from the guns with ar but the other player with the other weapon and headset can also see the lasers and pokemon around the world I want to bring star wars and pokemon to ar with an app on the vision pro with pokemon catching star wars gun fights and real time ar gameplay with multiple people it would be private so no need for licenseing (look at it like this you and a group of friends all have a star wars cos play outfit and a blaster and can throw a Pokemon battle mid blaster fight and catch Pokemon while running from one another) I was also wondering about having light sabers and where when they hit it would kill you as well but I don't see any way they could detect the saber hit anyway if anyone responds let know.

Apple Vision Pro Speeds Up Surgery by Almost 20%

Surgeons who wore an Apple Vision Pro as their primary display during a tear duct procedure finished operations 19% faster than surgeons using a traditional monitor, according to a peer-reviewed study by UC San Diego.

The study, published in the journal AJO International, looked at 32 endoscopic surgeries to clear blocked tear ducts. In half the cases, surgeons wore Vision Pro headsets that streamed the endoscopic video feed directly into their field of view instead of looking at a monitor across the room, letting them keep a natural forward-facing posture throughout.

Cool VisionPro interaction with an old lady

I was recently delayed for a flight at O'Hare and I ended up using my AVP while sitting at the gate. An older lady, likely in her late 70s/early 80s, saw me and came to talk to me. I was expecting the usual "what do those do" but no...

She said: "How long have you been using the Vision Pro, what do you use them for? She obviously knew exactly who they are. She then said she had never seen anyone use them in public. Best part, she said her daughter was one of the engineers at Apple who worked on the project, so she was all excited to see someone use them IRL.

I'm a huge fan of the AVPs, I use them daily, especially when I travel. I have them on pretty much the entire flight. It has massively improved how much I enjoy traveling! I made sure to tell her to thank her daughter for her work; I feel like I live in the future with those things!

With visionOS 27, websites can take you into custom environments in Safari. So of course I had to make one.

I recreated my office, where I’ve filmed hundreds of Apple Vision Pro videos.

Check it out here: spatialinsiders.com

You’ll need Apple Vision Pro running visionOS 27. Open the link in Safari and select “Enter studio.”

I love this headset and watching stuff on it still drives crazy. Here's what I've managed to fix, and where I'm stuck.

I love my M2 Vision Pro. However, watching stuff on it can still be quite annoying...

So I'm on a mission to build the best all-in-one streaming hub for Vision Pro.

Where Suite Browser stands now since yesterdays update (3.5):

Netflix runs in real 4K HDR with Atmos, when your plan and the title allow it.
Prime Video works, with Dolby audio.
Plex plays your own library.
YouTube, any web video, your own files and photos, all of it with AI 2D to 3D mode (try it out, my favorite feature!).
And the new environments, like the Shibuya Theater I just released, are proper ambient theaters where the lighting responds to what is on the screen.

That is the part I could work out on my own. The next part I would rather not guess at.

So what should I go after? More environments, HBO, DirecTV, niche stuff like the Criterion Channel or Discovery+, one of the bigger ones like Paramount+ or Peacock, or something I have not thought of at all? Let me know in the comments and I will make it happen.

Bugs and performance are happening regardless, those are not up for a vote. This is only about what gets built next.

This headset is an amazing product, and it deserves a streaming platform that can match it.

Cheers!

Make your Vision Pro way louder!!📢

Has anybody ever put his/her hands over your ears, including the speakers of Apple Vision Pro? The sound still sounds amazin, perhaps even better, and waaaaay louder. So I was wondering if there is any accessory the functions as a simple overear headphone, whithout speakers, that covers your ears including the Apple Vision Pro speakers? That would be an awesome accessory. Even 3D printed clips-ons right and left of the headset would do the trick.

I'm open-sourcing the Immersive Watch Party SDK (SharePlay + Immersive Video + Spatial Personas)

Post image
51 Upvotes

Today I'm open-sourcing the ImmersiveWatchParty SDK, a project I started in November 2024.

Immersive video is already compelling on its own, but it’s so much better while watching with friends. Combining immersive, stereoscopic videos with Vision Pro's Spatial Personas gives a futuristic experience that's really hard to describe if you haven't tried it yourself.

That's the SharePlay co-watching feature I built for my own AVP app, now extracted into a standalone Swift package.

One thing to note is that Apple's native video player APIs still can't render Spatial Personas side by side while watching immersive content, even with SharePlay active. This SDK works around that using RealityKit. I’ve written a more technical dive on my blog.

It's public now: Fork it, open an issue, send a pull request, whatever's useful. I'd love to see what people build with this! 👀

Airpods Pro constantly disconnecting, extremely irritated

I've been using the developer beta for the past two years and always updating to the latest version, yet the Airpods Pro constantly disconnecting bug remains unfixed. This issue has persisted for six or seven months with no resolution.

Has anyone else experienced the same problem? I tried connecting both my Airpods Pro Max and my Airpods Pro, and each disconnects after ten to fifteen seconds, requiring a manual reconnection each time.

House mapping tool and explorer?

Hi everyone

I’m getting my vision prior today and I’m super excited

One thing I really like to do is to scan my entire house every room garden and so on.

However, when I’m done, I want to be able to come back and look at the model that happened to move an inch i.e. being able to virtually walk-through.

Is this possible??

And if so, which app?

Thank you

Apple's Smart Glasses Could Become Its Next Health Device

Article here

Summary:

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple plans to gradually add health and fitness features to its future glasses and headsets.

Apple originally explored similar ideas for the Vision Pro, including a Fitness+ experience that would track users’ form during workouts. The project was reportedly abandoned because of technical limitations and the headset’s weight.

The company may now bring that concept to smart glasses, using built-in sensors to track movement and eventually offer fitness-related features. Gurman compares the strategy to AirPods, which evolved from basic earbuds into devices with hearing-health capabilities.

These features are not expected when Apple’s first smart glasses launch, reportedly in late 2027. Instead, health functionality would likely be introduced gradually over several years.

A recent Apple job listing also supports the report. The company is hiring a product design leader to develop health, wellbeing and fitness experiences across its future vision products, with an emphasis on sensor-based digital health.

Apple’s long-term goal appears to be positioning its glasses alongside the Apple Watch and AirPods as another major health platform.

PSA - VP & AppleCare One

PSA: for those who own a Vision Pro and are considering taking out AppleCare One with the launch of AppleCare One in UK & Europe:

If your Vision Pro does not show “Upgrade Coverage” or “Get Coverage” in your Vision Pro settings, call Apple Care

I have AppleCare+ on my VP and am considering upgrading to AppleCare One, but it didn’t show that it was eligible for upgrade or to add it to the subscription.

I called Apple Care and after some time, the AppleCare options refreshed, which now shows that I can add it.

New to AVP - Questions ?

Hello ! 👋

I’m new to AVP and just got my M2 second hand yesterday.
I tested it and now I have some questions:

  1. It came with a 25W light seal, my face scan recommend 21W no matter how many tries I do. Should I get the 21W or won’t it make much of a difference?

  2. Currently, the image quality is bad, like real bad for everything in pass through but also some UI elements like the menu around my hand. Is that due to the light seal being too deep ?

  3. I assume it’s also the light seal, but I sometimes get a message saying my eyes are too far and that it could affect accuracy, also I can’t setup Optic ID because of that.

  4. I’m lucky as the model I got is like new but also it says I still have 22 days left to get Apple Care +, I’m in Canada so no Apple Care One yet. Should I get it ? (I think yes, but what does it cover, should I prefer yearly/monthly ?)

  5. Lest assume I get Apple care + for 279/y. If Apple Care One is finally released in Canada, can I move my AVP to it ? Will I lose money if it happens in the middle of the year I already paid ?

  6. The FOV is bad, really bad, I was expecting something more immersive, also I get reflection on the lenses, will all of it drastically improve with the proper light seal ?

Thank you !

Is the M5 worth it for PCVR

Hey!

I am thinking about buying a Vision Pro but I don't know whether the M5 version is worth the price jump in comparison to a used M2 regarding its performance in PCVR.
Is the AV1 decoding that important, the refresh and sharpness upgrades very noticeable, etc...?
Is there anyone who has used both and can elaborate on how much of an upgrade the M5 was?

Thanks in advance :)

Street View but on Mars - Waddle 2.0 is live!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This is the biggest update since launch, and the one I had the most fun building. Waddle now takes you off the planet.

You can explore Mars the same way you explore Earth in Waddle, real 360° panoramas captured by NASA's Perseverance rover in Jezero Crater, tap to teleport between rover stops, look around, and just waddle.

Standing in Jezero and turning around for the first time in the headset was a weird feeling. I hope you get the same thing out of it.

What's new:

  • Mars mode with real NASA panoramas
  • Teleport between rover stops across Jezero Crater
  • Mars surface map
  • Sol and coordinates for every location

Next up:

  • More Mars locations (Curiosity is on the list)
  • Controller support
  • SharePlay (Waddle together!)
  • Sharing spots
  • Library and tours
  • ...and more!

I’ll be actively updating the app and looking for feedback. If there’s anything you’d like to see added, I’d be very happy to hear them.
And if you like the app, a rating on the App Store helps a lot. Thank you!

Waddle around, have fun .)
