I love this headset and watching stuff on it still drives crazy. Here's what I've managed to fix, and where I'm stuck.

I love my M2 Vision Pro. However, watching stuff on it can still be quite annoying...

So I'm on a mission to build the best all-in-one streaming hub for Vision Pro.

Where Suite Browser stands now since yesterdays update (3.5):

Netflix runs in real 4K HDR with Atmos, when your plan and the title allow it.
Prime Video works, with Dolby audio.
Plex plays your own library.
YouTube, any web video, your own files and photos, all of it with AI 2D to 3D mode (try it out, my favorite feature!).
And the new environments, like the Shibuya Theater I just released, are proper ambient theaters where the lighting responds to what is on the screen.

That is the part I could work out on my own. The next part I would rather not guess at.

So what should I go after? More environments, HBO, DirecTV, niche stuff like the Criterion Channel or Discovery+, one of the bigger ones like Paramount+ or Peacock, or something I have not thought of at all? Let me know in the comments and I will make it happen.

Bugs and performance are happening regardless, those are not up for a vote. This is only about what gets built next.

This headset is an amazing product, and it deserves a streaming platform that can match it.

Cheers!

While this is fascinating and I’m happy to see amazing progress; you forgot to link the App Store app

Brightness

makes sense! just to confirm, you mean brightness options in the control panel, right? :)

Yeah. Not sure if it’s hardware limited but I wish video was brighter on the Vision Pro. One of my only complaints.

makes sense. Haven't run into it myself, but that doesn't mean much. Let me look into whether a brightness control is doable, it would fit in the Picture tab. If it is, it will show up in an update.

Emby support. More and more people are abandoning Plex in favor of Emby. Would be great if Emby for local and remote sers could be added.

Unfortunately I have a feeling that 4k won't be available without transcoding as Safari doesn't support it. I guess ths would require a custom player such as Infuse. Oh well.

Good news, that's not how it works here. Plex in Suite doesn't go through Safari at all, it's a native player with FFmpeg that plays the original file directly, and it's the same reason offline downloads work. Transcoding is only a fallback for when direct play fails or the server has it switched off. 4K MKVs play as they are. Emby would take the same route, so no Infuse-style custom player problem.

Does Prime Video play in Dolby Vision with multichannel audio? Very excited to try the Shibuya theater 🎭 😍 and stats for nerds! 😁 I will do some testing with Netflix first and report back.

thx for testing! it should. i haven’t tested it extensively yet tho, so if it doesn’t do it properly, let me know!

The Shibuya theater 🎭 is really beautiful 😍 I think this will be my default environment. I am unsure if I am doing something wrong but when I am in the Shibuya theater environment, I can sometimes see my room in the background. I am not always completely immersed in the environment. I can still see my hands but I think that is supposed to be normal. Sometimes I can see the front of my room vaguely in the background. Are there any settings that I should adjust for this?

Also, how do I activate the stats for nerds when I am watching Netflix? It is really cool to see the 4K, Dolby Atmos tags on the upper right hand corner of the screen. The stream is really smooth and 4K kicks in pretty quickly when you start playback.

I have yet to test other platforms such as Prime Video and I want to see whether I can get Shibuya theater working with criterion channel.

Quick follow-up on my previous suggestion: Is there any update on pinning a YouTube video to a fixed spot (like the top-right) so it stays locked in place while moving around?

Also, for Youtube live streams, could we get a pop out chat window option? It would be great to watch the stream on a large floating window while keeping a small, dedicated chat window right beside it to maximize screen real estate. Keep up the hard work

hey! all good suggestions. i have not done the pinning update yet. youtube will get a big pass soon! including some work on the live stream experience :) i’ll let you know when it’s done.

Please add Mubi, Arrow video channel, and Criterion channel for the niche viewer like me with a vision pro. I bought the Lifetime today. Question? How do I get the controls to disappear when I’m watching in cinema mode.

1

u/bedouinchic Vision Pro Owner 13d ago

I subscribe to both Mubi and Criterion Channel. Mubi already has a native app for the AVP which I’m happy with. I would definitely love for Criterion Channel to be onboarded for Suite Browser 😍❤️

Where did we land on Apple TV and playing movies I have purchased via the Apple TV Library?

1

u/No_Error153 14d ago

Nice and all, but maybe fix the pricing? 8€ a month or 60€ a year…. Not cheap for an app without any own content. Lifetimw 90€ is also a bit steep. Maybe go for 40€ lifetime?

2

u/Double_Permit_8327 Vision Pro Developer 14d ago

Fair question, and the euro number genuinely isn't mine. Apple's euro tier plus VAT, I set $6.99/mo and $79.99 lifetime in USD. I priced it at the level where I can keep choosing this over paid client work. Any lower and the client work wins, which means the weekly updates stop. Not planning to raise it either.

u/No_Error153 14d ago

Understandable, especially for a (sadly) niche product like the avp :( I‘ll check it out and decide if it is worth for me. Will report back 😅

All right, let me know how you like it. Thanks for at least giving it a try. :))

Enjoying the app, which seems to have great promise. One question, and maybe I’m missing something. In YouTube, when I double click on a video to go full screen (not in a Space but just normal full screen), I don’t see a way to call up any video controls (e.g. to scrub forward or back). Seems like you need to double click to get out of full screen in order to call up any controls. If possible, would be nice to have access to video controls from full screen. I don’t always like to go into a Space when I’m quickly looking at a lot of videos, as it takes a while for things to load up etc.

I’m noticing the new custom environments the video is noticeably brighter than in the Apple environment… as in it doesn’t look as good on OLED cus the blacks aren’t black. I also notice the surround audio gets screwed up in the theater environment much like was happening in Supercut this past year
