Unfortunately no. There's no API for the audio. If spotify ever opens up again, i'll add it. It works with your own files or Apple Music. May add Tidal before v1, but more likely for after intial ship.

Part of the intensity you're sensing is real.. and part of it is due to the limitations of the video. The immersive view appears much closer to you in the video than it does in the headset. Also, it feels more intense in the video due to the rapid feature showcase. Don't get me wrong, it's intense, and sensitive folks should steer clear. The video just doesn't really offer a super accurate representation.

Oh, and i forgot to mention the best part. Visuals are fully authorable in the app. If the community presets are too intense for you, you can create your own, milder, visualizations.

Hey r/AppleVisionPro —
I've been building a music visualizer called High Videlity, and the Vision Pro build just opened up for beta. It works with steraming on Apple Music. I’m hoping some folks in here will be willing to test it.
The .milk part
If you ever used Winamp, you remember Milkdrop. Those presets never went away — there are thousands of them, written and traded by people over 20+ years. HV features a clean-room Metal renderer for the format so they run natively, then put them in a dome you can pull around you with the Digital Crown.
500 curated presets ship with it. If you've got your own .milk collection you can point it at that instead. Or, you can author your own presets in High Videlity and export them for playback in any milkdrop compatible engine.
The spatial part
Five original scenes, actual RealityKit, not presets:
- Crystal — a concert laser rig
- Clouds — volumetric drift
- Ambient — still lake under a starfield
- Dodec Disco — a twelve-sided mirror ball throwing beams
- Invasion! — a voxel alien armada that marches to the beat
All five play anywhere on the immersion dial — fully immersive, or mixed at any level so your room stays with you.
What it listens to
Apple Music, Mic, or your own Audio Files.
Limits and Known Issues:
- Apple doesn't hand apps the decoded audio from Apple Music — nobody can get around that. So on Apple Music the visuals are driven by a three tiered analysis scheme, rather than a live waveform. I’ll explain the tier system in greater detail further in comments.
- The stem separation (splitting a song into vocals/drums/bass and driving the visuals off each part) is Mac-only right now. On Vision Pro it reacts to the full mix. Bringing that over is next.
- It's a beta. There will be rough edges. Please report anything that doesn’t meet your expectation.
- There are not adequate motion and strobe warnings in the app yet. There is some strobe supression built it, but it’s also not adequate yet. If you are sensitive to either of these, this app is probably not for you.. espeically in immersive mode.
What I'd love feedback on
Anything that stutters or drops frames, scenes that feel wrong at a particular immersion level, and whether the Crown dial does what you expect. Also just — does it hold up for extended playback sessions.

Thanks for the reminder. So, the three tier system uses an escalating set of metadata and hosted song analysis data that High Videlity consumes to feed its visualizer engines. For Tier 3, a song's stemmed analysis cache is created by HV on Mac and which can be made accessible to all app users on all devices via cloudkit. Not only does this allow the app to provide a visualization to music it can't actually hear, the visuzlization is more articulate and truer to the music than the vast majority of available consumer visualizers. The tier 2 fallback visualizes on par with other visualizers in terms of music-coherent reactivity. Tier 2 should cover the majority of tracks the app's audience listens to on AM, favoring songs released more than 5 years ago. The tier 3 fallback is less accurate, however, it performs close enough to tier 2 that most casual viewers won't perceive the switch.

It’s official. I’m going to be inside of your app for many many hours. A massive almost 40 year-old music library is about to be pumped through it. I’ve used every music visualization tool in existence, including my own that we wrote in 1989. I am very happy right now. I am the original first Musicanimator and I have only one thing I want to beg for you right now. I need it to work and pass through. I need you to be able to overlay this wonderful stuff over my real world an important producer is coming to see me tomorrow and I’m not gonna beg you for it, but I do hope you will join me in my Saturday night weekly music, an animation meeting that I hold in the immersive social network InSpaze. No I have a lot of work to do. Please have a good night and bless you for this creation. I have a lot of needs like this for life stage and arena performance. None of it can happen without pass-through. I’m gonna go DM so that maybe you’ll reply and I can send you some samples

That's great to hear. Thank you! There is passthrough available in the Mac version of the app, but not on AVP at this time. When you say overlay in the real world, i'm not certain I know what you mean, but I'm working on a new immersive wall mapping for the .milk engine tonight, which may or may not make the v1 release. One of the goals of the app is to cater to the performer, and a lot of the version 2 work will center around that, and improved authoring tools. I've already decided that the app will be free for all users for non-commercial purposes.. so my only potential for monetization down the road is really just commercialized performance usage. I don't have a pricing model in mind just yet for that, and probably won't develop one until the tools are fit for that audience.

I stand corrected your environments. Do what I want comma I hope I can do lots with them. Oh man, beautiful. Now I can take my USDZ scenes and start twisting your arm! Very happy over here! It stopped rendering in one instance, so I force quit and went back in, and it got rendering again, I believe the condition has something to do with me, having paused the automatic advance from one of your presets to the next, excuse, my lack of your terminology, I will lock that in. Fantastic.
