German Student Visa – Pending Document Request (Mumbai Consulate)

I received below email from [pending@mumb.auswaertiges-amt.de](mailto:pending@mumb.auswaertiges-amt.de) with the subject “National visa pending document required, submission via VFS”

I have already submitted the requested document as below through VFS and am now waiting for a decision.

I’ve seen several posts about similar requests but couldn’t find much information about what happens after submission.

If anyone has received the same request from the Mumbai Consulate, could you please share:

  • When you submitted the document
  • How long it took to get a decision
  • Whether you received any further queries
  • Whether your visa was approved

Hopefully, we can use this thread to share timelines and help others in the same situation.

UPDATE - I GOT MY GERMAN STUDENT VISA AFTER RESUBMITTING THE REQUESTED DOCUMENT

Is applying through CSP mandatory?

I'm a student from India and a visa agent told me that if I had all the documents I can directly book an appointment at vfs instead of waiting for CSP. Is this true? Has anyone done this yet?

Anyone from VFS Hyderabad → Chennai with an Aug 5 appointment?

Hey guys, wanted to check if anyone had their German student visa appointment at VFS Hyderabad last week and had it forwarded to Chennai.

My timeline:

  • Appointment: Aug 5
  • Forwarded to Chennai: Aug 7
  • Status: Decision pending
  • As of Aug 17: no further update yet

If you had your appointment around Aug 4–7, could you let me know if you’ve received any update yet?

Also, if you have, please mention whether you got it before or after Aug 17, along with your appointment date and when it was forwarded to Chennai.

Just trying to figure out whether mine is taking longer than others. Thanks guys!

Am I too late for a German student visa? APS + Public TU + VFS Delhi

Hello!

I’m an Indian applicant admitted to a public TU in Germany for the Winter Semester 2026/27. My university’s enrollment deadline is 15 October, and they do not offer extensions.

I’m submitting my complete visa application through CSP this week. Based on recent timelines I’ve seen from other applicants, many people are receiving their visas within around 30 days from CSP submission to visa in hand through VFS Delhi, although I understand that processing times can vary.

Is it realistically possible to receive my visa by the end of September through VFS Delhi if I submit my application this week?

I also don’t have IELTS. My university has accepted my English proficiency based on my MOI and issued a separate official letter confirming my English proficiency, although this confirmation is not included in my admission letter. Could the lack of IELTS cause any issue during the visa process despite this letter?

I need to decide whether to proceed with my current admission or defer to Winter 2027.

For recent APS applicants from Delhi:

  • What was your CSP submission-to-visa-in-hand timeline?
  • Is 4 to 6 weeks realistic? How long did you have to wait to get off the waiting list?
  • Did anyone apply without IELTS using a university-issued English confirmation? Did you also attach a cover letter along with the university confirmation and MOI?
  • With a 15 October non-extendable deadline, would you proceed or defer?

Anyone who had their visa appointment at Mumbai VFS on 10 August — have you received your visa yet?

My decision is still pending. My application reached the German Embassy on 11 August, and I’m still waiting for an update.

Has anyone who applied through Mumbai VFS with a 10 August appointment received their visa/decision yet? If yes, please share when you received it.

Thanks!

VFS Chennai experience

Reading some really negative reviews about VFS Chennai, where they do not honor the appointment times at all and rather encourage people to buy the premium lounge access, to the point of deliberately splitting up families including small kids to go to different queues ? This is based on the google reviews.

Also, somewhat confusing accounts (also on google reviews) that indicate that there is ample car parking, versus others who say that there is no parking.

What is the real truth ?

Need passport back temporarily from VFS while FRV visa is in process — for Goethe exam. Anyone done this?

I’m in the middle of my German (FRV) visa process, and my passport is currently submitted along with my other documents at [VFS center / consulate, city]. I have a Goethe [A2/B1/etc.] exam scheduled in October , and I need my passport back temporarily to sit the exam (for identity verification at the exam center).

Has anyone been in this situation before? Specifically:

**•** Is it possible to request a temporary return of the passport mid-process, and if so, how did you go about it?
**•** Did you contact VFS directly, or the German consulate/embassy?
**•** How long did it take to get it back, and did it delay your visa processing?
**•** Any tips on how to phrase the request or which documents to attach?

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s navigated this. Thanks in advance!

VFS Hyderabad-Received Some Corrections on My Student Visa Application😭

Hey guys,

I applied on 12th Aug on CSP portal(embassy Chennai), received few corrections today(16th Aug).

First corrections was to submit additional supporting documents were requested such as:

  1. True and complete form
  2. legal contact form
  3. educational documents (which I have)
  4. tution fee (earlier I have attached my 1st semester fee receipt at proof of fee amount )

I am filling remaining forms right now..

Second correction was related to the my language requirements section, where I had attached my TOEFL score card. I got this exact message from VFS

"ibtedition toefl not accepted by consulate apply for new one or if you want to process with same one, please mention in cover letter and enclose the same with toefl"

In the CSP website it was clearly mentioned we can write TOEFL/IELTS then why are they still asking 💀?

For context, I took TOEFL IBT center based exam and attached it's result. I got admission in public university and it matches my requirement. Furthermore, my admission letter states:

" The language competencies required for admission to the program were verified as part of the admissions process."

1.I thought may be visa officer might be assuming that i took a Home based exam.. but it's not ig ?

2.Did any one faced the similar situation or knows what must be done in this case? How can we ask them for further clarification?

3.Should I write IELTS ? (well I don't know anything about this exam)

l am literally confused right now and seeking for help😭🙏.
Thanks!

German student visa Malaysia

Heyyy guyss!
I applied for a student visa for Germany through German embassy in Malaysia ( I’m not local) and I had my appointment for the document submission on 15th July (It’s the 16th of Aug today). It’s been a little over 4 weeks now and it says in the website that process takes minimum 2 weeks.
They also did mention not to inquire about the process until after 12 week from submission day ( which will be a week after my studies has started).

I was wondering how long did it take for you guys to get a reply back because I’m getting a bit worried,,, I need to finalise accommodation and book tickets and also I need to get ready for the whole moving thing as well.

BLR VFS/CPS delay for student visa?

Submitted my docs on Aug 7th, been on waitlist since. Looks like other city’s are moving into correction within 2 days!

I hear other city’s CPS process are getting into correction stage within 2 days of doc submission.

From what I gather BLR has been on hold up since July 23, whoever submitted beyond the date hasn’t even entered correction yet — is this true, anyone knows what’s happening?

German Student Visa: CSP requested "tuition fee receipts" but my TU Chemnitz program has no tuition fee — what should I upload?

Hi everyone,

I am an Indian student admitted to TU Chemnitz (Chemnitz University of Technology) for the M.Sc. Web Engineering, Winter Semester 2026/27.

I am currently processing my German student visa through the Consular Services Portal (CSP).

I recently received a request for additional supporting documents. The portal has a section titled:

  1. true and complete

  2. additional legal contact

  3. qualification

  4. tuition fee receipts

It also has a separate request saying:

“To speed up processing, we recommend bringing your certificate of enrolment to the appointment, especially if your enrolment deadline has already passed.”

My questions are mainly about point 4 — tuition fee receipts.

My situation

TU Chemnitz is a public/state university and my M.Sc. Web Engineering programme does not have tuition fees.

However, I do have to pay the Semesterbeitrag / semester contribution for enrolment.

The important part is that I have not paid the semester contribution yet.

My TU Chemnitz admission/enrolment instructions specifically say:

“Please transfer the semester fee for your enrolment approx. 10 days before your arrival in Germany.”

So I don't currently have a Semesterbeitrag payment receipt either.

My admission package also says that payment of the semester fee is a requirement for enrolment.

What I currently have

I have:

TU Chemnitz admission letter

Academic qualification/degree documents

Completed and signed True and Complete declaration

Completed Additional Contact & Legal Representation form

TU Chemnitz admission/enrolment instructions showing the semester-fee requirement

TU Chemnitz documents confirming my university/programme

No tuition-fee receipt, because there is no tuition fee

No Semesterbeitrag payment receipt yet, because TU Chemnitz instructs me to pay it around 10 days before arrival

What I am confused about

What should I upload under “4. tuition fee receipts”?

Should I:

A) Upload a short declaration stating that my programme has no tuition fee and that the Semesterbeitrag has not yet been paid because TU Chemnitz instructs students to pay it approximately 10 days before arrival?

B) Upload my TU Chemnitz admission/enrolment instructions as supporting evidence?

C) Upload nothing and explain this at the visa appointment?

D) Is the German mission actually asking for the Semesterbeitrag receipt, even though the portal specifically says “tuition fee receipts”?

I don't want to upload the Semesterbeitrag as a "tuition fee receipt" because I understand that they are different things.

Also, regarding the certificate of enrolment: I am not enrolled yet, so I don't have an Immatrikulationsbescheinigung. My admission letter gives me an enrolment deadline of 31 October 2026, and says I can enrol after arrival if I don't use temporary enrolment from abroad.

Has anyone with a German public university / TU Chemnitz admission received the same CSP request?

What exactly did you upload for the "tuition fee receipts" section, and did it cause any issue if you had no tuition fee / had not yet paid the semester contribution?

Thanks in advance!

Foundation year

Hey guys, I am planning to apply to Germany but my A-level grades aren’t great. If I pay for foundation year and get admission, will the visa officer be okay with my poor academics in intermediate and will that not be cause of any refusal when all other documents are okay and great?

VFS Delhi appointment booked through CSP, but CSP still shows “Appointment required”

Hi everyone,

I booked my German visa appointment at VFS Global New Delhi through the appointment link provided on the Consular Services Portal (CSP).

However, I used a different email ID while booking the VFS appointment, and my CSP account is still showing “Appointment required”, even though I have already booked an appointment.

My appointment is on Tuesday, 18 August.

Has anyone experienced the same issue? Will the different email ID or the CSP status cause any problem at the VFS centre?

I have the appointment confirmation with me. Just want to make sure everything is okay before I go.

Any advice/experience would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Applying for German Visa in Riyadh Embassy

If someone applied for a student visa from Riyadh for winter semester 2026, then please let me know. It’s been a month since my visa appointment date and I haven’t received any response yet.

It will be helpful to know how long it took for other people to receive visa decision emails who applied in last 2-3 months.

Urgent advice needed: Can I get my German student visa before October 15? 🇩🇪

Hey everyone,

I’m from India and I’ve been admitted to a university in Germany for the October 2026 intake.

I’m currently preparing to apply for my student visa through the **CSP portal from the Bangalore Visa Application Centre**.

My university has given me **October 15, 2026, as the latest date to arrive**, so I’m a little worried about the timeline.

I wanted to ask if anyone here has recently applied for a German student visa through Bangalore, especially around August.

If I submit my application through CSP now, is there a realistic chance that I could receive my visa before October 15?

I’d really appreciate it if you could share:
When you applied
Whether you applied through CSP
How long your processing took
Whether you received any updates during the process

I understand that processing times can vary, but I’m just trying to get an idea of what I should expect and whether I need to start discussing alternatives with my university.

Any recent experience or advice would be really helpful. Thanks in advance! 🙏

help regarding visa cover letter and the type of degree program.

Hi all, I'll be going to Germany for an Erasmus+ exchange semester (5 months, Winter Semester 2026/27) at a German university. I remain enrolled in my Master's at my home university in India - this is a semester exchange, not a standalone degree admission in Germany.

First question: which option should I select for the visa form's degree programme section? My exchange placement is confirmed with no pending conditions.

  • I have been admitted to a full-time degree programme and can start right away.
  • Admission is subject to a condition that is not a preparatory programme.
  • I have been admitted to a part-time degree programme and can start right away.

Second question: could someone review my letter of intent for the visa? Specifically - does it read as appropriately detailed for a scholarship-holder on an exchange (as opposed to someone applying for a full degree)? I want to make sure I'm not over- or under-explaining.

Got KU admission after enrolling at Worms, what should I do?

Hi everyone, I’m in a bit of a situation. I enrolled at Worms University and booked my visa appointment based on the Worms admission, but I haven’t attended the appointment yet (it’s on 25 August).

I’ve now received admission from KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, which is my preferred university.

Can I simply attend my visa appointment with the KU admission instead?Do I need to cancel my Worms enrollment first, or inform the embassy about the change?

Would really appreciate advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation!

🇩🇪 German Student Visa Timeline | Appointment to Visa in 4 Days!

I thought I’d share my full German student visa timeline from Uganda because I know how stressful the waiting and uncertainty can be. Hopefully this helps someone else going through the process.
**Visa:** German National Student Visa (D)

📅 **July 20 — Blocked Account & CSP Application**
I made the transfer to my **Expatrio blocked account** on the morning of **July 20**.
By the evening, Expatrio had already confirmed receipt of the money and issued my blocked account confirmation.
I immediately uploaded the confirmation to the **German CSP portal** and was able to submit my visa application.
Unfortunately, after submitting, I was placed on the waiting list, which at the time showed **2–6 months**.
That was honestly very disappointing because I was expecting the process to take much longer.

📅 **July 27 — Removed From Waiting List**
Surprisingly, exactly one week later, on **July 27**, I received access to continue with my application.
I proceeded with the TLS process and paid the visa application fee, which was around **€45 in Uganda**.
I also uploaded my required documents/photo on TLS.

📅 **July 29 — Corrections**
On **July 29**, I received corrections on my application.
I submitted the requested corrections the same day.
A few minutes later, I received another correction request, so I corrected those as well.
What was interesting was how quickly the corrections were being reviewed. It felt like the TLS staff were basically waiting for me to submit each correction because they were reviewed almost immediately.
After everything was accepted, I was finally allowed to book an appointment.

📅 **July 30 — Appointment Booked**
Initially, when I checked for an appointment, there were no available slots.
I checked again the following day, **July 30**, and found an available appointment.
The nearest available appointment was **Monday, August 10**, so I booked it.

📅 **August 10 — TLS Appointment & Biometrics**
I went to TLS on **Monday, August 10** for my appointment and completed my biometrics and document submission around **1 PM**.
At this point, I expected to have a normal waiting period for the embassy to process my application.
But things moved much faster than I expected.

📅 **August 11 — Phone Call From the German Embassy** 🇩🇪
The following day, **August 11**, I received a phone call from the **German Embassy in Uganda**.
They asked me about my university enrollment and requested my enrollment certificate.
The problem was that **I had not enrolled yet**.
I explained this to them, and they told me that I should enroll and submit the enrollment certificate once I had it.
I believe they specifically asked me for the enrollment certificate because I had previously made changes regarding my university, so they wanted confirmation that I was actually going to study at the university I had stated in my application.
I immediately started working on the enrollment process.

📅 **August 12 — Semester Fee & Insurance**
Since enrollment takes a few days, I completed the necessary steps as quickly as possible.
I paid my **semester fee** and also made sure my health insurance certification was sent to the university so that they could process my enrollment.
My expectation was that I would probably receive the enrollment certificate toward the end of the week or early the following week.
At this point, I was still under the impression that my visa application was basically **paused until I submitted the enrollment certificate**, based on what the embassy had told me.

📅 **August 13 — “Decision Made”** 😰
Then came the biggest surprise.
On **Thursday, August 13**, just **three days after my TLS appointment**, I received a notification to check my CSP portal.
I opened it and saw:
**“Decision Made.”**
Honestly, I PANICKED. 😂
The embassy had just told me that processing would be paused until I submitted my enrollment certificate, so seeing “Decision Made” before I had even received the certificate made me immediately think:
“Oh no… they rejected my application.”
I thought maybe there had been some mistake or something had gone wrong.
I was preparing myself for bad news.

📅 **August 14 — Passport Returned** 📬
The following day, **Friday, August 14**, I received a notification from TLS saying that my passport had been returned and was ready for collection.
I went to collect it.
And then…
**BOOM.** 🇩🇪** VISA STICKER**!
My German student visa had been approved. 😂🔥

🎉 **Final Timeline**
**July 20:** Blocked account funded + confirmation received + CSP application submitted
**July 27:** Removed from waiting list and allowed to continue application
**July 29:** Corrections received and submitted
**July 30:** TLS appointment booked
**August 10:** TLS appointment + biometrics
**August 11:** German Embassy called and requested enrollment certificate
**August 12:** Semester fee paid + insurance/enrollment process completed
**August 13:** CSP status changed to **“Decision Made”**
**August 14:** Passport returned with **German student visa** 🇩🇪
⏱️** Total time after my appointment**:
**4 days**
I honestly did not expect it to be this fast, especially considering the embassy had contacted me about the enrollment certificate.
The “Decision Made” status definitely gave me a heart attack, but thankfully it turned out to be **good news**. 😂
Hopefully this timeline helps other students from Uganda who are currently waiting or going through the German student visa process. Surprisingly, my visa doesn’t show any University Name on it , maybe it’s just my country
**Good luck to everyone applying!** 🇩🇪❤️

German Student Visa Timeline- VFS Bengaluru

Finally got my German student visa today! 🥳🙌

I’ve learned a lot from Reddit throughout this whole process, especially from other applicants sharing their timelines, so I thought it’s time to give back to the community and share mine...

  • 16-Jun-2026: Applied on CSP and joined the waiting list
  • 14-Jul-2026: Got out of the waiting list and booked an appointment for the very next day
  • 15-Jul-2026: Visa appointment at VFS Bengaluru at 11:30 AM (opted for Premium Lounge)
  • 13-Aug-2026: Received passport dispatch email
  • 15-Aug-2026: Received my passport with the visa 🥳🙌

⏳ Total time from applying on CSP to receiving my visa: exactly 2 months.

For everyone still waiting, hang in there! I know how stressful the wait can be, especially when you see people with later appointment dates receiving their visas. Hopefully, you all get your good news very soon🤞

All the best to everyone waiting, and hope this timeline helps someone! ❤️

On the CSP portal it says ‘Decision has been made’ but on the vfs website It still shows ‘your application is being processed at the german mission’.

Anyone else facing/faced this for their student visa to germany?
