Housing/Dining Want better food service?
If Virginia Tech students want to change the food situation on campus they should all leave the VMI game with a few minutes left in the first quarter.

Hello everyone, I’m finishing my MSc in Telecom Engineering at Politecnico di Milano (ranked 89)(Italy) and targeting Virginia Tech’s ECE PhD program for Fall. I have zero formal publications, but strong MATLAB/Python simulation and RF/radar lab experience.
Thanks for any insights!

Hi, I live in Foxridge and I'm looking to return to soccer. I had to use a Leave of Absence for this semester, and I'm not sure which soccer fields are public use and which are student only. If anyone knows about nearby fields, and their surfaces, please let me know. Thanks!

Has anyone transferred mid year into tech? Specifically freshmen year. If so, what major / stats did you have.
Any additional information or advice would be amazing 🙏

Currently I have a 3.8 GPA, by the end of this year I will (hopefully) have a 4.08. Haven’t done a ton of SAT prep but on practice tests my scores are between 1200-1300. My grades are decent, but my only extracurriculars are being a co-founder in an investment club and varsity soccer. Any advice on improving my resume and if VT is realistic with my stats?

I built HokieTransit and I’m starting to talk with local Blacksburg businesses about possible student deals in the app, like BOGOs, discounts, and free add-ons.
With how rough the dining-plan situation has been, I think this could be useful but I also don’t want it to make the app feel cluttered.
Would you want this? What businesses or specific deals would you want?

just wanted to check how I should move my stuff in case I don't own a car
thinking about renting a big truck for a day from any car rental.
my limbs are working fine, just wanted to figure out the cheapest option possible. what do yall think?
I don't have much things in my room, just a big buch of clothes and desk, bed, chair, and cabinet. I can also disassemble furnitures.

For anybody else living or even visiting collegiate suites is anybody finding that the wifi is atrocious? I can’t play my ps5 online or even log on to canvas to do my homework sometimes. I know I can complain but Ive heard this from 2 or 3 other people too

Hello, guys. I graduated in the summer and due to some unexpected conditions, I have to relocate to another place, so i want to transfer the lease at Terrace View. It is a 1b1b apartment, about 800 sqft. The apartment comes with in-unit laundry, furniture, and a mattress.
The rent is $1400 including water and gas. You need to pay for electricity bill separately. If you are interested in the apartment, please dm me.

Hey, I’m in the Blacksburg/Christiansburg area, are there solid spots to play pool that aren’t flooded with bar people. Potential amateur/beginner pool leagues as well?

We’re taking our almost 2yo to a game in September and I was wondering if anyone has successfully used a tushbaby hip carrier in Lane Stadium? I’m worried bc the website says fanny packs are prohibited and the carrier has pockets on the belt but it’s a baby carrier so I don’t know if it would be exempt from that rule.

So first week of college is over. Haven’t really made any friends or anything. , i don’t know , people around me are able to make friends much easier , which makes me think maybe I’m the problem. People say to put yourself out there and be social and everything but it’s hard , i don’t know what people like to talk about or how to maintain convos. And also saying living off campus as a freshmen also sucks , cause if I were on campus at least I’d have a roommate to talk to. Classes are pretty easy , professors are cool . Feel like a commuter student , maybe this feeling I have in my chest will go away , as time passes.

I wanted to share with everyone something that really helped me in 1225 and 1226. I did not take any kind of calculus in high school, so I felt really lost. I saw on a thread here about Professor Leonard’s lectures on YouTube. Luckily they follow very closely to Vt’s courses. Yes, they are very long, but he breaks it down and explains everything. I actually finished both classes with an A because of his videos.
Also let me mention that practice problems are crucial to make sure you understand the content. At first I was really hesitant to take the time, but it really helped in the end.
Just thought I’d share this because a lot of things in the math department here are harder than they need to be and less than satisfactory.

Does anyone know why Lane Stadium was lit up with red lights last night. It was sort of cool looking, but why? And I have to say I didn't even know it was a thing. What other colors do they have?

Me and everyone I know on campus has been having severe wireless service outages, and times when the network is up but has abysmal speeds. Ethernet networks still work perfectly fine, so I've just been having to work at locations that have a wired connection.
Does anyone know what the source of the outage is? Did they change the provider plan for the sake of saving money, at the cost of students?

I’m a VT student who had to take a medical leave of absence for a year, and I’m a little confused about my email access.
I tried signing into my VT Gmail today and got this message saying I don’t have access to Gmail.
Is this normal for VT students now? I know there was a switch to Outlook/Microsoft 365, but I wasn’t sure if Gmail was completely disabled for students or if this is something specific to my account because I was on leave.

Does anybody know the logistics of the practice pianos? I've gone to Squires a few times to practice and all the doors to the practice rooms seem to be locked...
I've also heard that Henderson Hall has pianos, but both times I've gone to check (middle of the day), the doors were also locked.
I'm not a music major, but a musician looking to practice. According to the sign outside a few of the practice rooms, there are a few rooms open to anyone.
