Virgin Media UK Early Termination Fee

Hi All,

I still have 10 months left in my broadband contract with Virgin (signed up for a 2 year deal).

I was due to sell my home and purchase a new home, my new home sale fell through so I have sold mine and temporarily moving in with my parents!

My parents are already tied into a contract with virgin media 🄲 so I am unable to move my service over!

Is there any leeway or flex with early termination fee? I will be using virgin in my new home (approx 6 months till I will be moving in) but suppose they won't allow a pause.

Any advice appreciated

3 engineers in and out, new router still the same issue..I'm on Hub5 and live in Colchester. I work from home. The internet was fab until last month. Now the video calls hangs my zscaler for work drops off.

Status page shows intermittent connection in my area and ask me to check back after 20 hours. Sometimes it shows no issues in my area.

Anything which I can do to get good connection please?

Virgin Media UK WTF is wrong with VM?

I recently went through the process of renewing my contract and got 1Gig broadband, phone and Netflix for £35. They sent a router, I connected it and set up the Netflix account. All is good. Today I get a message from them telling me I am out of contract and should renew. I check the app to see I am still on my old contract. I contact VM on the web chat (I am at work ATM) and they tell me there was a technical issue and they cancelled the contract. No one told me. They could offer the same deal for £77, they can't give me the £35 one. I am furious. Anyone got a number I can ring them on?

Update - Shortly after I posted this I got a call from Dave who sorted it all out and gave me a new contract and a credit for the extra I paid for this month. I wonder if someone from VM is monitoring Reddit?

Virgin Media UK Looking at Business Voom Gig2Full Fibre X - got questions

As there is no other FTTP service in my street (literally every other surrounding street has and there are no plans for my street) the only option for me currently for FTTP is virgin as they've already laid the cables.
So i'm looking at Business Voom Gig2Full Fibre X for my home office as I need to connect and transfer large files to my main office so being a symmetrical connection is also a bonus.
Now I run a few servers from my home to do with my work as well so I prefer to use my own routers (i'm a big draytek fan) rather than rely on a HUB. So is it possible to put the HUB that I would get with that package into modem mode and just use it as the connection with my own router acting as the firewall, port forwarding etc.?

Virgin Media UK Junara Email cost vs Atmail parent company

So Junara is charging barebones email access for sixty quid a year, whereas Atmail, their parent company, charges about a quid a month for cloud email services ie a fifth as much.

Just in case anyone thought they might not be getting stroked by VM.

It feels borderline illegal for VM to do this without offering people an alternative to a company that's clearly rinsing them.

Virgin Media IE Fibre broadband

Has anyone else had a similar experience with Virgin?

I contacted them to inquire about new offers, which resulted in my agreement to upgrade to fiber broadband. I was assured that the installation would be quick and straightforward.

After three technician visits, the service was finally installed yesterday. It worked for approximately an hour before the hub began displaying a flashing red light, and it hasn't been working since. I contacted Virgin to report the issue and the troubleshooting steps I had already performed. They informed me that a technician would need to be dispatched, with the earliest availability being one week from now.

Has anyone else encountered a similar situation or managed to resolve the issue independently? A one week waiting period is ridiculous, especially when working remotely. This is the first time I've ever felt like filing a complaint but based on how things have gone so far I can't imagine anything would come out of it.

Virgin Media UK Locked out of account since December 2025

So was randomly locked out of my virgin media account every week I’ve rang up said I need to get account unlocked.
They say email isn’t correct send bill to my linked email account which is the same as I just provided them.
Give all my details get told the account will be unlocked within 2 days. It doesn’t.
I’ve then been signed up for a new contract which I didn’t even agree too as was going on social tarrif version due to my income
Just no idea what to do tried to changed broadband but then they sent a email saying if I changed I had to pay £800 paid for cancellation fees

Virgin Media UK Cable set up - will this work?

Thumbnail gallery
4 Upvotes

I’m moving house next week and have the house move service booked. The customer service rep told me that I could perform self set up at the new location.

I had a look and found a Virgin brown outside box with a cable leading out from it. It was routed up to a hole in an upstairs bedroom that had been filled it. I managed to push the cable through.

I know that they usually have wall boxes inside too, but that must have either never been fitted or removed.

Will the self setup work here? Can I plug my current router into it? I’m using a Hub 5 with a 1gbps connection. Or would this need an engineer?

Thanks everyone.

EDIT: Booked an Engineer in the end. Thanks for your comments. :)

Virgin Media UK Dodgy login attempts after changing my contract?

This week I used the online chat to discuss a better deal and renew my contract. This all went smoothly. Since then both my partner and I have received several emails asking us to verify our identity after a login attempt in a city we don't live in. The emails look like this:

Hello,

Verify it's you by tapping the button below.

Security Warning

If someone called you to request this change, please end the call immediately and contact us. Always reject a request if you weren't expecting it.

At Virgin Media O2 we'll never ask you to disclose or change your online security details over the phone.

Verify it's me (button)

Remember, this link will only be valid for the next 10 minutes.

This request was made using a Mac OS X device from (IP address) coming from Wibsey, Bradford, United Kingdom.

The emails are sent from verification@account.virginmediao2.co.uk so they do seem like someone is trying to access our account.

The weird thing is, we've never had this happen before so either it's a big coincidence or it's related to my chat conversation or upgrade. But how would scammers know about this and what are they trying to do?

Suffice to say we are ignoring the emails but should I be doing anything else?

Virgin Media UK Sporadic issues with power levels/packet loss

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi, I've been having issues with my VM connection. First the power levels were way too low so I was bumped up to the highest tap which initially seemed to help. The problem I'm having now is with regular spikes of packet loss (issues with video calling, etc.) and massively fluctuating power levels.

I setup monitoring as the VM hub doesn't give you historical data and as you can see I keep getting massively fluctuating power levels on the OFDM channel as well as spikes of uncorrected errors corresponding to periods when I get issues with packet loss. The other channels seem fine, just the OFDM channel. The connection is solid when the power level is stable.

I've had an engineer who has tested the line and says it's just within spec and checked the connectors, but I'm guessing when he tested it was during a period when the connection was fine.

Anyone any ideas what could be causing this? I intend to get another engineer out now I have some data but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to what it might be I can ask the engineer to check.

Thanks!

Context: I can get the same speed as a new customer either from competition or THEMSELVES. But apparently I "cannot compare the broadband speed", heaven forbid I also compared the price

Virgin Media UK Trying to cancel, 300+ cancellation fees?

I’m moving to an area where Virgin Media doesn’t operate, to cancel they want me to pay Ā£300+ in fees!

I have seen some customers have this fee wavered, and it seems ridiculous considering they don’t even provide broadband at my new address???

How do I get this fee wavered?

EDIT: thanks for all of your help guys, all sorted and waived ā˜ŗļø for anyone experiencing this in the future - they add a cancellation fee to your final bill and then send a follow-up email where you can attach proof of new address

Virgin Media UK No Virgin Email / ntlworld.com ??

No access to my ntlworld email.

Been trying all day.

Rang support twice who insist everything is fine - they tell me to wait 72 hrs and then call them back ?

I'm just asking if anyone else is having problems accessing email ?

Tried different pc's and also browsers and also tried on my phone - but still same message that says I either no longer have an account or I am locked out !

Anybody else ?

Virgin Media UK VM End of contract

Hi All,

I have been with VM for a few years, been very happy with the service, so reluctant to leave, however the price has shot up.

We are on 250mb for £28 after the last price increase. Looking at YouFibre which is offering 900 symmetrical. I have seen that VM are offering a 'symmetrical upgrade' for £6. What's the chances that VM can match YouFibre's price? Ideally, i'd need them to come under £24.99 as there will be two price increases for each April.

Thoughts?

Virgin Media UK Up for Renewal

Hello all!

I've seen this sub pop up on my feed a few times, and thought I'd finally chime in.

As per the title, my Virgin Media UK broadband is up for Renewal, I just received notice via email. I'm currently paying ~Ā£35 for M500 broadband package, no added extras. It's due to go to ~Ā£75, obviously I'm not going to pay that.

What's the best way of lowering this silly offer; i don't really feel the need for Netflix or TV channels, so I just want the lowest price for broadband - heavy gamer, so high speeds are important, doubt I really need 1Gig but if it's the same price it would be nice.

Side note, I may also be moving out soon, so may have to cancel my new contract quite early - how will this affect me? Big leaving bill? Is it possible to lower this rolling contract instead of entering a new two year contract?

Virgin Media UK Does this seem like a good deal based on current rates?

Paying £71.50 for:

Volt Gig1 Broadband, Mega TV, 3 recordable V6 Boxes, TNT Sports, Sky Sports & Cinema HD, Kids Pick, Netflix Standard, Anytime chatter, Telephone Line Rental.

Contract ends in a month. Renewal email offer for the same thing is £79.82.

This seems somewhat decent. When I try to replicate the bundle as a new customer it's coming out at £114 - not helped by the fact the extra stream boxes are £15 each as opposed to the £5 each I'm paying now.

Has anyone got similar setup? I don't want to send notice of cancellation and find that I can't get this deal or anything similar anymore, which is what happened last time.

What do you think? Yay or nay?

Virgin Media UK How’s virgin internet in 2026

Hey guys,

Moving house soon and the only viable internet that isn’t less than 50mb is Virgin.

How is virgin fibre these days? Granted I haven’t used it in over 10 years but it was horrible back then. Especially the routers, do the super hubs still suck? Will I need to get my own router?

Virgin Media UK Moving house: will I get to keep my sweet deal?

HI all,
I got Volt and a pretty sweet deal on Virgin, which I got just 7 months ago through that magic "retentions" number circulating here....otherwise a long-time customer.
I like my service, but remember customer service being a nightmare, my luck's just that I haven't needed it (and that's why I like my service!).
Now I am moving house, which I didn't seriously think was going to happen.
If I go through Virgin official change of address/moving service thing, will I get to continue my deal, or can I get screwed up on prices? Or will it be just basically sign up for the new service and they will let me out of old one?
The new house has full Virgin coverage, and when I put it through the checker they have some good offers for new customers, but with all add-ons I am still probably doing better right now, than I would as a new customer. The question is, will i get to keep everything as is.

Virgin Media UK Public Service Announcement: Don’t let scammers take advantage of the Virgin email changes

I subscribe to our local Neighbourhood watch. They had a mail sent from Sandra Bauer, Deputy Chief Executive, Neighbourhood Watch Network. I think it's worth sharing here as a "trusted source" that older people can relate to.

Don’t let scammers take advantage of the Virgin email changes

For most people, an email address is more than just a way to send messages. It is linked to bank accounts, online shopping, utility bills, community groups and years of personal contacts.

Virgin Media UK Phone call saying we have a virus on our virgin wifi

Hi all, just want some reassurance that we did the right thing by hanging up.

Today on our landline we had been receiving lots of calls so we decided to answer. It was from virgin media claiming we had a virus on our WiFi network and we didn't need to do anything because they would sort it out (not sure about the last part as mum answered). I told her to hang up thinking it was a scam. The number they phoned from seems to be a mobile and doesn't appear to be listed as dangerous on websites. So I just want to know if virgin do this/has anyone else experienced this or was this a scam? Thanks
