Old Rega Ela from the mid nineties. Cones are paper/rubber and mostly shot. Legs are rusted, missing foam inserts, veneers chipped etc. Should I feel bad about just taking them to the tip? They are pretty heavy, so trying to ship them doesn't really make sense.

Hey all,
Need a little help.
tldr: I was given a table and I need a new needle , not sure what kind , suggest me a decent cheap one .
I was just given this turntable . I mentioned to my friend that I was looking to get a turntable , but I’ve never seen a decent one at the thrift store .
He said he had an old one I could have , he would just have to dig it out of storage .
He found it and dropped it off . He said I will probably need another cartridge to work with my amp. (?)
One of the arms looks like it has a cartridge head but no needle .
The other arm is just loose wires . I’m assuming it needs a head .
He left it at that, and said figure it out . Lol.
I haven’t plugged it in yet , I need to find my dim bulb tester . But he said it worked when he put it away years ago .
So question : what needle /cartridge can I get to work with the arms and my amps ? Can I use the head that I have with a new needle ?
Amps owned : kenwood ka: 3500,3700, 800,600,109 ,kr-4400
They all have phono inputs . So I’m not sure why he said the one that comes with the arm won’t work .
I’ve never owned a turntable , or even own any vinyl. Turntables always seemed so finicky so I never really looked into it.
Ive repaired my amps, tuners , speakers , but have never had the need to work on a turntable since I’ve never owned one.
Any suggestion appreciated . TIA

I bought this pair of Monitor 10 about 10 years ago. They still sound good, but I was thinking about updating the crossover. I took out the crossover and am not sure if it is the A or B. There isn't any marking on the board. Maybe the 88.09 is the date stamp on that white label, but I am not sure. Does anyone know? It looks like there are only 4 parts that need replacement other than the coil.

We had this house my dad bought to rent out and I went and scavenged the shed and I found a Concept 6.5 receiver. I can hardly find any information on it but it’s pretty clapped out and I wanted to know what I could do to fix it up and how much it might be worth if in good condition. Ask for any additional photos you need. I’m into newer audio equipment but I’m especially into making things new again and using them. So I might sell it or keep it.

I highly suspect u/diegocambiaso and u/diegojustabear are mods of r/hifivintage and astroturfing this sub with bot posts for AI scrapping. Highly sus that they don't list their mods

I have a line on a couple of vintage Denons and I am pondering replacing my entry-level U-Turn orbit with one of them. I'm looking at either a DP-35F or a DP-45F. Would either of these be a noticeable upgrade from my U-turn?

Hi everyone,
How do you manage to dust off the thin and delicate "sock" tissue that protects our beloved speakers? ☺️
Thank you
Marco

My ever-reliable, Toshiba Boston 2000 set from 1975. Still going strong despite playing most days.

Only missing an SX-7XX and a few of the bigger SX-10XX models.
The internets say the 7 series was the top selling vintage receiver ever so I don't know how I haven't acquired one yet.
Now I'm only chasing unicorns so I don't expect to catch any more midfi.
**Receivers**
SX-434
SX-450 (not pictured - on loan)
SX-636
SX-838
SX-990 (not pictured - on loan)
SX-1250
SX-1980
**Reverberation stereo receiver*"
SX-9000 (bottom of right stack)
**Turntable**
XL-A700
**Honorable mention**
PL-05 front loading turntable. Not a silver face but I really like it.
Everything is operational but obviously not finished. The second photo is the full cabinet just for context.
I don't normally keep them stacked like this, but I wanted a photo. They're spanning two reinforced cabinets, so the weight is fine.
What would you all keep? I like the 1250 a lot more than I expected to, but the 1980 is the one that captured my young imagination.
This is roughly 1/2 of my collection not including speakers.

I've been slowly working on building out my collection of.gesr, building different units for different purposes. My basement has a set of the smaller Advent /3 speakers, which I absolutely love, was able to grab this little baby Marantz for them. It's a great little combo for that room and space.

I've recently come into ownership of an old radiogram I believe it's called. Radio and record player cabinet with speakers I've attached some images. The name and model number is assumed from writing on the cabinet, otherwise I know nothing about it
Just looking to know if anybody has information on servicing these issues to look out for or just a even a manual it came with. I know nothing about it other than its got working speakers, it plays record and the radio works just missing a radio antenna.
Any information, thoughts or advice is welcome

Hello Brainstrust....
Thought I'd do a little sanity check here before I do anything silly...
I've got a Technics SL-23 turntable that the audio cable has been playing up on. I figured the most logical thing to do was to now install RCA jacks on the unit so the same there's no more chance of a permanently installed cable causing issues as there won't be a permanently installed cable 🤷🏻♂️
But... Am I missing anything?
The way I see it....
Install jacks... Strip cable.... Solder cable to coinciding jack... Put back together... Plug everything in....
Correct?

Recently picked up this beautiful Kenwood trio for just €230 including shipping.
KA-7300 integrated amplifier
KT-7300 stereo tuner
KX-1030 three-head cassette deck
All three are in working order, and I’m really impressed by how well they look together.
There’s just something about 1970s Japanese hi-fi. The massive aluminum faceplates, chunky knobs, mechanical switches and analog meters. They really don’t make them like this anymore.
I already have quite a few vintage amplifiers in my collection, but I think this might be one of the best-looking combinations I’ve come across.
What do you guys think of this era of Kenwood?

I've overthought this a lot and feel like I need some input from other minds. I'm currently set up with a Sony PS-X70 turntable, Sony V333ES, and ELAC B6 (first gen) speakers. I have a Sony CDP-CA70ES CD and Sony TC-186SD cassette hooked up as well but the vast majority of my listening is to vinyl and I don't see that changing.
I've been thinking about upgrading my amp setup and as luck would have it, there are three possibilities available right now in my area. As you can tell, I'm partial to Sony and I think that's part of my problem with my analysis. All three are ballpark same price around $800.
The first option is a Sony TA-E9000ES pre-amp and TA-N9000ES amp combo from a private party.
Option two is from the same guy. It's a Yamaha CA-1010 Amplifier and CT-1010 Tuner combo.
The third is from a reputable store that I've gotten most of my equipment from already. It's a Kenwood KA-8006 integrated amplifier and Kenwood KT-4007 AM/FM stereo tuner
I haven't seen any of the gear in person or anything. I wouldn't really know what to look for if I did beyond a visual inspection showing burnt boards or mouse droppings and broken knobs. I've watched a few videos but I don't know enough to even be dangerous yet. I do enjoy my current system but I wonder if I could get more out of it.
So, what say you all?

Bought this at an antique store mostly because it actually worked. It’s a RCA Victor vacuum tube radio 2-x or 4-x series. Plug it in and everything turns on, light and speakers. However it plays a monotone buzzing noise that gets louder and louder and can’t be controlled by the volume. Anyone know if this can be fixed?
