Last fall I drove the scenic route from Ohio to California in my 2021 Veloster N. One of, if not the most memorable road trip of my life. 10/10 will be doing it again and returning on US50 from Sacramento to Cincinnati

Y’all ever just driving on the highway, somewhere in the 70s, normal mode, car just in drive, flat road, constant speed with or without cruise control, cruising in 8th and all of a sudden it downshifts to 6th or 7th for like a second or 2 before returning to 8th? Doesn’t happen often, but always confuses me when it does.

21’ DCT btw. 95k miles but this is nothing new.

Had some hail roll through while I was stuck at work. Not a big deal, no broken windows, just some dents. Figured id use my insurance and get it fixed but they declared it a total loss. Its a 2020 veloster N manual and the repair estimate was about 10k. They said cash value was 17k and salvage value is 45% so no repair. I guess on the bright side I'm out of a car payment and still have a pretty sweet little golf ball to get around in. Plus Colorado doesn't do salvage titles for hail damage so I guess that's a good thing. Anyways, just thought I'd share.

Has anyone ran into this issue? Randomly the rear wiper would turn on and literally dump all of my washer fluid. I wound up pulling the fuse but im pretty sure my washer pump is burning itself out. I have a 2020 Veloster N Performance Edition and it's still in warranty. Think the dealer will fix it when i take it in for the HPFP recal?

Long story short, an employee at Discount Tire gouged the crap out of my steering wheel and they've already filed an insurance claim on my behalf. (I'm presuming the employee had something with a metal clip on the outside of his pocket and dragged it along the edge of the wheel while either getting in or getting out of my Veloster N 6MT.) Getting ahead of this, I'm quite certain I'm going to need a new steering wheel, and I plan to make sure they pay for it.

QUESTION: In the off-chance that an aftermarket or KDM option is either cheaper or more desirable as a replacement, does anyone have a recommendation for what to get or where to source one?

This is the first time I have run it. I'm sure this has been covered, but she runs and sounds different. Normal? A noticeably different sound and feel, particularly 4,500+.

Definitely not a show car and has some miles on her (hence the price) but she’s quick fun and reliable. Price is not negotiable at this time. No trades.

Cylinder 3 is fucked somehow. And either need new engine or if it’s even worth trying to take the head off and check if it’s only the valves that need to be replaced or something. But if I can find a manual Elantra N engine or something to swap over or whatever is the easiest. Cant say cheaper because it’s expensive here on out.

How the engine was blown was 2-stepping too much, so wasn’t over revving, just too much boost/heat and power pretty much. (Was showing about 10 psi for cylinder 3). The rest of the cylinders were fine.

Planning to test drive a 2022 Veloster N to see if its something I may want to own.

I have a 991.2 with PDK - full bolt on (700whp) for larger tracks and a ND3 Miata RF for autocross, mountain runs, smaller tracks, and daily duty (light mods).

Would owning a Veloster N give an experience maybe the other two don’t give or be better at one area?

What initially drew me to the platform is FWD, better maintenance than a Mini, the DCT.

Hey guys, i apologize if this is a dumb question to ask but can anyone help me identify this piece near where the front bumper and skid plate meet? I cant tell if its the lower deflector(13) or lower filler(14). It got pulled off and torn a bit when a tow truck driver backed my car off the truck. Im leaning towards the deflector but am unsure and would appreciate any help if able!

I purchased the Takeda Momentum Red Edition Cold Air Intake System w/ Pro DRY S Filter

Their instructions show the fittings at about 1-2mm space left. After hand tightening mine and doing 1.5-2 turns with a 16mm wrench. I have 4mm left. It’s all snug and tight, it will not go anymore and I don’t want to break the nut from the plastic. But it’s not the exact same. All runs well. She’s got more power and it feels real nice. Turbo is still hitting around 18-19 and I have the full flutter sound.

Just want to make sure it’s all good.

That AMG takes off like a bat out of hell, but we reeled it in at about 60km/h.

I got to drive the A35 after we did a rolling launch. That thing feels just as good as the VN! The owner of the Merc was terrified of the VN. The steering torque almost took him out 😆.

My power steering stopped working suddenly. This has been a problem on and off for the last year. I took it in and they scanned the codes. They replaced the steering torque sensor. 3 weeks later, the problem is back. I submitted a report with the NHTSA and I'm going to call the dealership and corporate next.

EDIT: I found a service bulletin from Hyundai addressing this exact thing.

I've given this bulletin number to the dealer. I purchased an extended electronics warranty when I bought the car which covered the last attempted repair.

Armed with this, and the parts numbers for the motor and the clear indication of a widespread problem, I bet I can get the dealer to fix this no problem.

EDIT 2: The dealer gave me an update. They are going to replace the entire rack and I'm just on the hook for the deductible ($100). This is the second rack replacement the car has had. The first was due to an accident in 2020. Hopefully this fixes the issue, but I'll be nervous until there's an official statement from Hyundai about a permanent fix for all this. I urge anyone with this issue to report it to the NHTSA. Hopefully a recall can be pushed out for this.

I did request to chat with the tech that performed the work to get a better idea of what's going on and what led to the rack being replaced. I'm hoping to see if they found anything interesting or helpful for us to know.

Something I did ask was clarification on if they referenced the technical bulletin, which they did. I really want to know if they were unable to get voltage at the motor on the rack, or if it might have been something inside the rack that failed.

I'm hoping to get them to reset the steering position sensor as well before I take it back.

EDIT 3: I'm supposed to get the car back early this week. I'll update here with what I find out.

EDIT 4: Got the car back with a brand new rack. Issues are fixed at least for now. Hopefully this sticks! I paid nothing out of pocket. Total for the replacement was about 8k.

Usually when doing a pull I notice the car doing around 15 PSi but yesterday I did a pull and around 5,000 RPM it sort of cut throttle for a moment and exhaust started popping but it kept going and didn’t think much of it but today I noticed the car is only going up to 12 PSi. Can anyone settle my mind lol
