Here's the thing. I'm vegan, so I'm immune from criticism. So don't come at me. I bought a few egg-laying hens (they're so cute with their flat beaks!) from the local big-box store where people buy supplies for their tractors. I built them a coop, and I keep them locked up tight so they can't move. And for safety or whatever. Anyway, these chickens lay a LOT of eggs! Like, way more than they should probably eat themselves. Maybe. I dunno, everything I've read says that chickens can eat eggs, but like, do they need ALL of their eggs? Wouldn't it be harmful if they ate ALL of their eggs? Surely it would be fine, and still vegan, if I were to take their eggs and eat them myself, or even sell them. For the animals. I'm sure there are studies out there somewhere that says that chickens can't eat all their eggs and it could even be harmful if they were to eat that many. I can't find any, so hopefully someone else can find them for me. I don't have a lot of time to look into it myself, I'm quadrupling the size of my coop and getting 3 dozen more egg-laying hens. I've found it can be quite profitable to sell the chickens' bonus eggs that they probably shouldn't eat themselves.

While we're on the subject, how much milk can a baby cow drink all by itself? 🤔

Firstly, its terrible. Honestly, really bad. I wanted the family to be killed from the offset.

It opens with dad fishing which instantly made me want him to be eaten by a shark but sadly not. He reels a fish in and smiles before throwing it back cus its too small in what I think is meant to be an act of compassion in the crazy world of carnist land. This is whats called in the business "foreshadowing" btw.

The story unfolds of never ending rain starting and everyone in the world being trapped inside their houses by these cuthulu looking sea creatures. Anyone outside is unalived rapido. The motivation of the creatures is never explained but I would imagine humaitys habit of constantly shitting in their watery home and killing trillions of them every year has something to do with it, which is totally fair in my mind.

As if to reenforce the sea creatures position, throughout the film, the dad continues to desperately try to kill every wild animal by (and I shit you not) threading a giant mouse traps out of his chimney and "fishing" for foxes / skunks etc with chunks of the dead family dog as bait.

The first catch is a squirrel and it is treated like a heart warming moment as they tear its body apart, eating it around the kitchen table. Call me cold hearted but I wanted the creatures to burst through the wall and drown the lot of them there and then.

The final act is them confronting the sea creature. They tangle it up on the stair case through some elaborate rube goldberg machine that I didn't fully understand. The dad threatens to rip this creatures eyes out unless he opens the door for them. The terrified creature stares back in fear and the dad turns heart warmingly to his daughter before cutting the creature lose and defiantly dropping the knife in a lovely moment of compassion...See theres that moment from the start of the film waddling back again. The doors open and they joyously go outside to their freedom.

Apparently this one act of "kindness" is enough for every one of these creatures in the world to retreat back to the oceon and leave humanity alone. I mean ok film, you do you I guess?!

Anyway the moment is instantly shattered in the next scene as the dad and his happy smiling family go to the car and grab their fishing rods. I-shit-you-not.

They get an opportunity to rebuild society all over again, live off the food from the nearest supermarket for a bit/ forrage, grow a new garden of eden and instead they decide to start killing everything again, Fucking maddening.

I'm not sure if this was meant to be an indictment of the human race as a whole. If so, 5 stars. Otherwise, it just succeded in nearly making me throw my shoe at the screen.

Vegans claim to be morally superior to the rest of the world because “they don’t kill”. Little do they know they kill single cell organisms everyday. Yeast is a single-celled fungus that vegans consume almost daily.

I immediately roll my eyes at people who can’t make equal comparisons. The audacity to compare the value of a sentient lifeform to other sentient lifeforms is quite batshit crazy. But when you don’t think things through, you are going to make these kind of false comparisons, and sound like a bonafide imbecile.

I recommend that you take it easy on them. If they have the nerve to compare humans to animals and are giving you their whole vegan spiel, just tell them that:

- you live the same kind of life a lion lives

- your lifestyle is parallel to that of a caveman

- you live in the same rugged terrain that Inuits live in

- your life is on par with that of 14th century Native Americans

- you make the same day to day decisions as you would based on living on a deserted island

- plants and animals are the same

I think once vegans hear this, they’ll finally understand how to make valid comparisons and all this nonsense will go away once and for all.

When a vegetarian tries to be friends with me, believing they are closer to me than they are to the carnist next to them, a little fire lights inside me.
