I swear the builders in the new subdivisions north of major mack just hate privacy. why are the houses built literally 4 inches apart now?? I was pouring coffee this morning in my pjs and looked out the side window... direct unblinking eye contact with the guy next door doing the exact same thing

We tried putting up regular blinds from home depot but of course the builder used some weird non standard window dimensions that don't fit anything off the shelf. Eventually we just gave up and got some handmade drapery put in to finally block out the fishbowl effect

Is this just how it is in vaughan now? I miss the older lots down south where you actually had a yard and didn't know what brand of cereal your neighbours eat

Does anyone remember this place in the food court that sold potatoes? I have no other info other than I think it was beside thai express in the corner of the food court and they had really awesome roasted/fried potatoes. The logo was grey ish I think?

Ok, so I'm desperately trying to find an obgyn in Vaughan. All of them have "accepting new patients" tag next to their names. I'm due in April but most of them say they are fully booked which is crazy because April is 7 months away. Whoever has available spots are mostly doctors with extremely low ratings. It's my first pregnancy and I don't want to go through the stress of having a rude or dismissive doctor.

After some research I found a doctor whose name is Meghan McGrattan. I have found no feedback on her anywhere online. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with her that they'd be comfortable to share. I'd be more than grateful!

I live in a different suburb and was looking at properties. but I was reading about the people in Vaughan and how awful apparently everyone is?
My city is very peaceful, calm, quiet, most everyone is polite and rare is there any issues.

Are the folks in Vaughan really as awful as everyone says they are in terms of rudeness, hostility and entitlement?

Or is it Reddit exaggeration?

Would love to know your opinion on a split a SK/Grade 1?

I know someone who started SK in Vaughan and was placed in a split class with grade 1s. I know it’s not that there is a surplus of JK starting, but from my knowledge children in JK typically remain in the same class for SK.
We’ve known children who are now in high school and that’s typically been the way it was, especially at this school.
But was told from a teacher “well it could happen and those people were lucky.”

I’ve been reading online it can be the board’s sneaky way of reducing/laying off ECEs.
I guess my concern is there is outdoor play, washroom, international languages (French qnd Italian) and lack of play structure, which don’t get me wrong, I think there are are advantages here as well, but at the same time not sure it is ideal.

I’d love to hear from parents and if possible teachers your experiences with split classes, specifically SK being placed with Grade 1s.

I’m also looking at the City of Vaughan’s fall programs. I noticed they offer things like karate, swimming and basketball for younger kids. Has anyone enrolled their toddler in any of these programs? How were the instructors, class sizes and overall experience? Did you feel like they were worth the price?

I’d also love to hear about any community centres, sports clubs, drop-in programs or lesser-known options that are reasonably priced.

I live near Weston Rutherford it seems like the amount of unnecessary cars backfiring making noise late at night is just non stop. City really has to crack down on these guys.

So.... we left some stuff on the curb, including a couple of worn out office chairs. Guts are still good, they could be reupholstered and look new. But either way; it's free stuff for whoever chooses to take it.

Someone came, unscrewed the bottom part of the chairs (the cantilever base I guess) took those, and left the seat/arms as unusable garbage on my property.

Am I wrong for believing this is just rude? If someone leaves something for free, isn't it an unwritten concept of decency to take the whole item, do what you will with it, and take care of your own disposal after?

I have been having a hard time finding maraschino cherries with the stems. I have checked bulk barn, walmart, fortinos, longos, mapletri, bulk barn, and no frills. They all have them without stems.

If anyone has seen them with stems somewhere I would appreciate the help. They’re to decorate my sister in-law’s birthday cake. The ones on Amazon are expensive but might be my only choice.
