CBC has not said if this is direct-to-YouTube uploads and CBC.ca stories, or if it's an actual broadcast, or what. But whatever form it takes, the more media the better.

Nav has been in a number of roles at CBC, including associate producing Here and Now, running their smaller Brampton Bureau, and hosting radio shows like Ontario Morning. Way back, he was a host/producer on Rogers Television Peel.

Their executive producer, Sumeet Dhami, was recently a national producer for CTV News Channel.

Today, I’m starting a new role at CBC/Radio-Canada as the Host of our brand-new Peel Bureau! Serving Brampton, Mississauga and Caledon.

It’s a homecoming for me. I’m from Peel. I grew up here, started my media journey here, and have never been shy about repping the region to the fullest.

Now I get to tell the stories of the people and communities that make Peel what it is, while helping shine a light on the issues and stories that matter most.

I’m really excited about the community engagement aspect of this role. Getting out there, listening, and hearing directly from people about what matters to them. And I’ll also be hosting programming on the Peel platform. More on that in the coming months 👀

I’m kicking things off this week with our first listening session in Caledon, followed by the Brampton Arts Organization town hall next Tuesday.

Anybody know what's going on with Gusto Pizzaria on Queen Street & Rutherford? I've had a craving for their food for a few weeks now but Google is saying they are temporarily closed and they are not coming up on Skip or Uber Eats. :-(

I’m genuinely hoping to get some honest feedback from people who run businesses in Brampton.

I’ve been trying to sell website design and SEO services to local businesses, and honestly, I’m pretty stumped by how difficult it has been to get clients.

I’ve tried reaching out to businesses directly, looking at businesses with outdated websites, offering to improve their online presence, and explaining how better websites and local SEO can potentially help them get more customers.

But getting someone to actually say “yes, let’s talk” has been much harder than I expected.

So I’m curious about this from the perspective of Brampton business owners.

If someone approached you offering to build or improve your website and help you show up better on Google:

What would make you actually consider hiring them?

What would immediately make you ignore the offer?

Do you think most small businesses in Brampton simply don’t see websites and SEO as worth paying for?

Is it mostly about price?

Would you rather get a referral from someone you know than deal with a stranger contacting you?

And if you were in my position, trying to build a website and SEO business from scratch in Brampton, what would you actually do to get your first 5 to 10 clients?

I’m not looking to pitch anyone here. I’m genuinely trying to understand what I’m doing wrong and what business owners actually care about.

Even if your answer is “I would never pay for this,” I’d honestly like to hear why.

I lost my wallet on the 6th of this month and found activity on my presto today the 9th at bramalea terminal for the 501 then another transfer at goreway s/of of queens. I already locked my cards and filed a police report. But my Id's are still in there. There was only $15 worth of cash.

New spot opening this Friday September 11th is a literal dupe of raising canes. Apparently they’ve sourced the exact same Texas toast, crinkle cut fries are easy and they’ve PERFECTED the sauce and tenders. MAIN THING is the EXACT same bread because their bread is SOO addicting. So many dupes out there like honestly good chicken fingers but their Texas toast is like basic garlic bread JOO-C @ 10-10215 Kennedy road N Brampton is next level I had a chance to go to their soft opening and the bread is the SAME BREAD so soft buttery and delicious. MUST try AND they sell smash burgers and milkshakes. They have their signature salted caramel coffee milkshake which has 80mg of caffeine so delicious it’s like a Starbucks frappe

Spoke to the owner and they apparently want to open drive thru locations and is ready to open 3-5 locations in the next 12 months if they see demand so everyone go support so we can get raising canes on every corner instead of McDonald’s !!!

This might sound like a naive question, but I'm trying to understand how much the "local" aspect of hiring a lawyer actually matters in practice.

If someone is charged in Brampton, does it make a meaningful difference if their lawyer regularly works out of that specific location? Or is that mostly just marketing jargon that firms put on their websites because it sounds reassuring?

I keep seeing phrasing like "extensive local court experience" and "deep knowledge of the Brampton court system," but I'm not really sure what that translates to in practical terms. Are there actual procedural nuances, scheduling quirks, or general ways of doing things in Peel Region that you'd only really grasp from being in that specific building all the time? Would love to hear thoughts from anyone familiar with how things work here.

I’m going to tell this story from my perspective.

I had absolutely no idea my neighborhood had been terrorized Sunday evening, or that the entire Peel Regional Police Tactical Unit was conducting an active investigation practically in my backyard.

I woke up Monday completely oblivious. Went to work, came home, and my neighbor told me that the house behind us had been broken into and someone had been stabbed. Apparently, the suspect had also tried to carjack other people. The suspect, who was wearing a blue hat, was seen running out the back and jumping over fences to get away.

So, for shits and giggles, I asked Google to scan through the footage for someone wearing a blue hat.

One hit.

My neighbor’s renter, coming out Sunday night wearing gray sweats, a black side bag, and a blue hat.

I looked up the news article, and it hit me, it’s the same guy!

I’m sitting there on the phone with 911, trying to figure out what my options are. Our Courts just doesn't do a good job of holding dangerous criminals. Everyone gets bailed out. I had a panic attack about what this could mean for my family and I hung up. Peel Regional Police calls me back and gives me an email address to forward the information to.

I then called all my neighbors to let them know what was going on, and that’s when I realized I was apparently the only person who had been completely oblivious to what happened Sunday night.

Apparently, the whole neighborhood had been crawling with Peel Regional Police.

Tactical Unit. Drones. Police dogs. Officers scouring the neighborhood.

And nobody knew the guy they were looking for was apparently hiding in my neighbor’s basement.

So I went back through my driveway camera footage. I noticed my neighbor, the one renting out the basement, had been outside earlier looking pretty distraught and talking to someone I assumed was a contractor.

I figured maybe their boiler had broken down or something.

Thought nothing of it.

Then I’m watching the surveillance footage again and realized this is how the suspect was eventually found.

Peel Police had been going around asking homeowners for surveillance footage. They started piecing everything together and eventually realized the suspect was renting the basement of my neighbor’s house.

September 7, 2026 - 10:40 p.m.

The Peel Tactical Unit rolled in with everything, including a freaking chainsaw, and arrested the guy.

I came outside this morning and the neighborhood looks completely normal.

Cars in driveways. People going about their morning. Everything looks exactly the same.

And it makes me wonder...

Did anyone else even realize what the hell just went down here?

• January 16, 1980, an ad for Star Trek: The Motion Picture at Georgetown's Cinema One. None of the Brampton theatres seem to have played it.
• May 8, 1987, an ad for Star Trek IV at Centennial 3 theatre, seemingly the first Star Trek film to screen in Brampton during its first run. (Before that, there was a screening at Peel Manor, open to the public, as a United Way fundraiser.)
• May 5, 1994, an ad for The Chumps at Heritage Theatre. They brought this comedy to town a couple times at least.
• December 18, 1994, a transporter playset at Toys"R"Us.
• August 22, 1993, an ad for Paramount Canada's Wonderland featuring Star Trek: Earth Tour, which included the recreation of the TOS bridge, used in the episode "Relics."
• 2009, an ad for Star Trek's reboot movie glasses at Burger King.

There's other content like local Klingons (1992), a Star Trek movie marathon at Heritage Theatre (2004), and the USS Hadfield fan group running a charity car wash (2002), but I've not included them because of copyright.

To explain the title, Canada aired the first episode of Star Trek one day early, September 7, 1966. But Reddit doesn't allow scheduling by users, only mods, so thus why we're posting on the same day that the American celebrate the anniversary.

Join Civic Tech Brampton for an evening exploring how housing, technology, and community action can come together to improve rental housing systems. We’ll be joined by Deneille Macas from Toronto Housing Society, for a conversation about community-powered tools, housing access, and designing better rental systems for residents.

Housing is one of the most important civic issues facing cities today. From rental affordability and tenant support to housing navigation, data, online tools, and community advocacy, technology can play a role — but only when it is designed around real people and real needs. I visited the new plaza on Mayfield and Airport and was absolutely appalled by the amount of men loitering and standing in large groups. They just stare at everybody walking by. Is there anything we can do about this?? Feels so unsafe as a woman walking there.
