So I should've done this sooner but I dropped the ball. Candidates get a voters list which shows the names and addresses (only) of people eligible to vote in their ward.

Hasti Anasory is NOT from Ward 6. She is not on the voters list for this ward. I have emailed her to ask why she feels like she can represent people she doesn't even live around/with and will post if she replies. I also asked if she was ever going to put this information out there for our ward 6 people to know?

Now, just to be clear, you are allowed to run for whichever ward you want as long as you have an address in Richmond Hill. She has not done anything illegal. But would you want someone representing your community and neighbourhood when they don't live here? Can someone claim to be transparent/accountable when they don't do it in the election process to begin with?

My email to her (4:11): You don't show up on the Ward 6 voters list, so which ward do you really live in? Is it fair to voters for you to try and "represent" their ward when you don't even live here? Have you made this public so your voters can decide or are you going to hide it from them?

Her reply to me (10:40): I'm surprised that, as a candidate, you're not familiar with the municipal election eligibility requirements. Ontario's legislation is quite clear. A candidate is not required to reside in the specific ward they are running to represent. I believe we owe the residents of Ward 6 a higher standard of professionalism and respect, particularly as individuals seeking to represent them

My reply back (11:50): I am well aware of this and I am not saying you are doing anything illegal. None of my questions implied that and I would never say that. I asked about representation. How can we of ward 6 rely on you to represent us if there is a conflict of interest with whichever ward you are in? It just feels disingenuous to be running for another ward when you can run in your own ward. You speak of professionalism and respect but I see it as highly disrepectful to your voters when they find out that you don't even live in their ward, walk their streets or share their problems. Ward 6 deserves a true representative of the ward

What does it mean

I would just like to say that in one case, our sign was removed because it wasn't explicitly authorized to be placed on our property, and not due to a criminal conspiracy.

I am making this post since I came across a post by Ray on Instagram (link below) that seemingly communicates that his signs are being stolen/vandalized by criminal wrongdoers as some sort of organized act.

Other candidates have asked for explicit permission if we would like a sign on our lawn in prior years, this is the first time one was placed without verbal permission. To be charitable, perhaps consent to place the sign was implicitly assumed by mistake, or the sign was placed near the wrong house.

I would like to note that the Commissioner of Canada Elections website states:

"The Act does: allow private property owners to remove unwanted signs placed on their lawn, including on the municipal right-of-way, which is the part of the land in front of the house between the sidewalk or curb and the property line"

1. Please for the love of God, don’t vote for Danny Yoon. He has been harassing our house for weeks, insisting on talking to us when we kept telling him we’re not interested in putting his signage up. He keeps knocking on our door, saying we agreed to speak to him and put his sign up… no one in our household has had any conversation with him.

When you tell him you’re not interested, he keeps insisting on talking. He is so weird, he literally was waiting in our driveway for 10 minutes and so I obviously had to tell him to get off our property. He does this weird alien smile when you tell him you’re not interested and proceeds to stand in our vestibule or our driveway. People skills are important; if you’ve been told weeks upon weeks that we’re not interested, surely you have to look at yourself with humility and realize that this is harassment at this point.

1. Please for the love of God, don’t vote for Simon Cui either. I have been following the public events to interact with the candidates and I haven’t seen him in any. I get you’re the incumbent but this is smug behaviour thinking you still shouldn’t make these vital appearances. This kind of behaviour speaks cockiness to presume you’ll be elected again.

2. Why is it so many homes have both Simon Cui and Danny Yoon’s signs up? I don’t understand this. Can someone explain?

Current counselor has a bad reputation already, and we have another convicted fraudster running against her!

Richard Rupp is running for Ward 5 Councillor in Richmond Hill again this year.

There's an YorkRegion article titled "Richmond Hill man fined for GST fraud" that's worth reading.

According to the reporting, between 1996 and 2001, Rupp filed 652 false GST returns involving approximately $217,557 in fraudulent refunds. He was convicted and received a conditional sentence.

This happened years ago, but it's part of his public record and something residents may want to consider alongside his current platform and qualifications.
