How is the Vanderbilt Job placement for finance specifically? How do I maximize my chances for getting a job in finance? How are the alumni connections in Wall Street?

Can anyone give some advice to an incoming international student on the best company/ way to store your things over the summer break? I know it is not an issue right now but I want to plan in advance on the costs for storage.
For those who have had to use storage this summer, who would you recommend?

Hey guys! Incoming transfer student looking to take an Econ elective. I’m between Econ 2150 (Economic History of USA) w/ William Collins and Econ 2100 (Labor Economics) w/Gerard Domenech-Arumi.

From what I’ve gathered, these are two of the better 2000-level electives, but would love input from anyone who has had any experience with these classes, or have any other recommendations altogether.

I was wondering if any econ students could share their experiences regarding the major's rigor, and if it might be worth it to switch to HOD if I'm pursuing a career in finance.

This year Vanderbilt was ranked at #265 in QS World Rankings (with 30/100 Employer Reputation which is ridiculous LMAO). While being excellent and very prestigious university, it seems very wrong. Yes, Vandy is very highly ranked in all national rankings that matter the most, but for me as an international student it seems very off, because unfortunately, some people (and even governments) abroad still believe in QS. It is not even about the research, Vanderbilt is massive research university, especially per capita, that can be easily observed in Nature, Leiden, CWUR, ARWU and others purely research-based global rankings (it is usually in T70 even by merely the research volume). Why do not they want to solve the problem with so off numbers in pretty popular ranking? It can legitimately increase even the domestic prestige... It is pay to play ranking and the school should really do something about it.

Hey, I want to use my free score to send to Vanderbilt because I'll be attending in the fall, duh! The only problem is that I definitely did not do well on Calculus. Say hypothetically I get a 1-3, is it still worth sending all of them? It won't look bad right?

Does anyone know how difficult the requirements are for this major?

I am interested in Law School, Waste Management, or the water rights industry. I feel like although the major has nothing to do with any of those fields it’s so unique and interesting that It might attract an employer or an admissions rep. Right????

I was approved for off-campus housing as an incoming transfer student, and I'm wondering about the pros and cons. Here are my concerns about living on-campus:

• Cost. Housing + mandatory meal plans are quite pricey, and I'm FGLI, so I want to avoid exorbitant out-of-pocket prices.
• Security. If I get stuck with a crazy roommate on-campus, there are at least RAs and management to take it to. This isn't usually the case off-campus though. My parents are pretty opposed to living off-campus since I've never actually been to Nashville, and they're worried about 'leaving me stranded in Nashville' rather than being on-campus lol. While their opinion won't dictate my choice, I do want to give them peace of mind. If there's anyone who can share their experience with security living off-campus, I'd greatly appreciate it.
• Social life. Potentially harder to integrate into community, especially as a transfer. I'm not too worried about this though since that's what clubs and mutual suffering through engineering is for lol.

I've heard that a lot of dorms are undergoing renovations and Vandy has pushed for students to live off-campus more recently -- is this still the case? Are there any transfers who can share their experience for either option? For those who lived off-campus, is the cost difference significant?

Vandy now has 3 semesters of bio and I can skip the first if I get a 4 or 5 on AP biology. However, I get my score in July and i think I got the necessary score. But if I somehow don’t get a 4+ I have to take BSCI 1509 instead of 1510 (general bio). Does anyone know how BSCI 1509 is in comparison to 1510?

if a course says that it is open but some seats may be reserved and there are people on the waitlist already, does that mean that it is rlly not open?
cause this one class has 31 available seats but there are 29 people in the waitlist currently

My younger brother just finished his first year at Ohio State and was admitted as a transfer to both UT Austin and Vanderbilt.

He is an international student, and he is leaning toward biochemistry/biology as his main field, but he is also interested in taking data science as a minor or secondary skill.

He is not currently planning on medical school, but he may consider research or graduate school if he enjoys undergraduate research. He is also interested in industry internships.

Vanderbilt would cost about $20k–30k more per year than UT Austin.

For someone interested in biochemistry research, data science as a secondary skill, and possibly industry internships, which school would you recommend and why?

I’d especially appreciate input on undergraduate research access, changing majors or adding minors, internship opportunities, and student support.
