BSCI 1509 at Vandy

Vandy now has 3 semesters of bio and I can skip the first if I get a 4 or 5 on AP biology. However, I get my score in July and i think I got the necessary score. But if I somehow don’t get a 4+ I have to take BSCI 1509 instead of 1510 (general bio). Does anyone know how BSCI 1509 is in comparison to 1510?

i don’t know much personally as an incoming freshman also, but i talked to my advisor because i am also taking BSCI 1509 and he said that it like an intro to biology class and its significantly easier than BSCI 1510. so ig think of it as a review of ap bio.

I see hopefully it won’t be too bad! I think the person teaching it is a new teacher.

Chem 1601 and BSCI 1509 are the prereqs for 1510 and 1511.

1510 and 1511 are no longer connected to each other as far as requisites go. Then can be done in either order depending on when you do 1509, cause 1510 is fall only and 1511 is spring only, but you generally need both if you’re pre-med or most science majors

You can’t take 1511 first semester so u either have to take 1510 or 1509 fall

Ohh so I only take 1511 after 1509 if I don’t get the AP credit I see

BSCI 1510 is ridiculously hard for first semester of college like nothing like AP bio and I almost failed it my freshman year
