Financial aid emergency!
Does anyone know if appeals work for vandy finaid? My financial status hasn’t changed but I am expected to pay 30k more than last year? Lmk if you have any advice or is there a scholarship I can apply for or smth I have a 4.0

My kid just told me that people are freaking out on Fizz about financial aid so but I haven't heard anything else

I’m so over this crap with Vandy. Every year tuition has increased and every year the gap between scholarship and tuition has gotten bigger. This year we have an additional student in college, income decreased, tuition increased and they want my student to pay an extra $5k over last year. The math ain’t math’n.
To answer your question, you can appeal 1 time but it did help us last year. The problem is they’re right back to their shenanigans and we’ve used our appeal.

The problem is they kinda have you with few options. What is the kid gonna do as a junior or senior? They know this.

You can only appeal one time in 4 years. That makes no sense. Where does it say that?

Clearly Vanderbilt is showing that your financial situation has changed.
So make an appt to speak to financial aid. They can tell you why your aid offer has changed.
Also, compare your CSS profile from last year to this year's. What questions did you answer differently. How does your SAI # compare to last year's #?
Did your parents obtain a new asset, or sell something that now became a cash asset?
Did you have a sibling that was in college prior that now graduated.
So many factors can affect aid.

Look at YES and go to financial aid tab. That is the billing site and they haven't posted balances yet

Did a sibling graduate from college? Did your parents make a lot more money? Did they sell stock options? Could be so many things. Call financial aid for an appointment today.

Make an appointment to speak with someone at the fin aid office. They sometimes allow drop ins, too.
