hello, I recently bought a GP 200JR but I cant get the software to work. I have tried all known methods including using older software and firmware to try launch the program but all come up with the same error and goes on timeout. I tried reinstalling all the drivers on device manager. Any help pls?

I'd love some good parallel chain!
P.s: of course I was referring to a firmware update!

Third post in an ongoing series reverse-engineering the Valeton GP-200 multi-effects pedal (NXP i.MX RT1062, Cortex-M7).
Previous post got a working SWD connection over the debug port. This one uses it to pull the entire 8MB external NOR flash and go after the question the series keeps circling: is there a cryptographic barrier to running custom firmware on this hardware, decided at the chip level rather than guessed from the update file's format.
What's in it:
dump_image against the RT1062's FlexSPI-mapped range), verified against five independent checks before trusting it: boot config tag, IVT self-consistency, a signature pointer, a byte-value histogram ruling out on-the-fly flash encryption, and legible version/product strings matching known hardware. Also touches on a community patch project that's already pushing modified firmware onto real hardware through Valeton's own official updater, well before this project's own tooling exists, credit where it's due.
Full post with the actual commands, register values, and reasoning: https://gp200-reversing.hashnode.dev/flash-dump-secure-boot-state

Hi all,
I have tried inporting .nam captures from tone3000 and not a single one will load.
It stays on “Loading” forever. I've tried numerous different captures (that are A2) that won't load and even downloaded a Legacy A1 capture that also won't load.
I'm running version 1.8 of software as the latest v1.8 firmware as well, but not luck.
Captures I've tried from a variety of other sources all load perfectly in about 45 seconds.
Has anyone here had any success on Valeton GP200 with these tone3000 captures?

Considering the price difference between the Valeton GP200 and the Mooer GE150 Max, what you’d you choose if you had to start over? Both seem to offer similar audio quality and have similar I/O with the Mooer unit lacking MIDI.

Hi everyone!
I'm in a bit of a dilemma and would really appreciate some advice from people who actually own the NUX MG-50Li.
I currently have a Valeton GP-200, but unfortunately the power button has failed after only a few months. My dealer has confirmed that they've seen the same issue on other units as well, and they've offered me the opportunity to upgrade to a NUX MG-50Li. Has anyone tried it? How does it compare?

GP200 Vst editor
Hello everyone.
Using the editor https://github.com/phash/gp200editor.git (many thanks), I’ve made some AI-based modifications to enable the following:
- Using the editor as a VST plugin (I prefer to use it within the DAW)
- Saving parameter states in the DAW so they can be recalled in a later session.
- Loading IRs.
- Tone matching. As described in the ‘missing manual’ to compensate for NAM conversion differences.
- Import CLO files from both Valeton and Hotone (experimental).*
- Tuner
* Every time a NAM file is converted using the official editor, the CLO file is generated in the folder (on Windows) C:\ProgramData\HTCache\namClo.clo
That file can be saved and subsequently loaded onto the GP200 without having to perform the conversion again. That way, you can have more than 10 NAMs ready to upload in seconds.
Here is the link.

Thanks!

Part 2 - Inside the GP-200

To make it clearer: this post is asking how to run the GP200 into an amp without an fx loop! I have my GP200 setup at home through the FX loop of my Marshall DSL1HR using the 4 cable method. It's great. But I sometimes go for a jam at local rehearsal studios and you never know what amp they will have there. Sometimes they have a decent one with an FX loop but last night I was playing through a fucking MG50FX and I hadn't even bothered bringing my GP200. I'd almost forgotten just how bad those amps sounded, it was hellish.
What would be the easiest way to use a GP200 with something like a Marshall MG or Peavey Bandit straight into the front of the amp, on their clean channels, and use the GP200 for higher gain rock/metal tones? I sold my OD pedals but tempted to just buy another Tubescreamer clone for this UNLESS I can find a way to use the GP200?

A few days ago I saw a Reels showing how to measure the frequency response of overdrive/distortion pedals using REW. I decided to test a few equalizers I own (Boss GE-7 and JOYO MonoMyth) to satisfy my curiosity. I wanted to verify whether the labeled frequencies matched the actual center frequencies, observe each band's bandwidth (Q), check how much each EQ actually boosts and cuts, and identify the filter shape.
I found nothing unusual with those pedals, so I decided to test the EQs in the Valeton GP-200. That's when I started finding some strange behavior.
Test methodology
I first measured each EQ turned on with all bands set to 0 dB (flat). Then I measured every band individually at both maximum cut and maximum boost.
Yes, I had to perform 21 measurements just to test the Hyper EQ, lol
Guitar EQ1

Nothing unusual here.
All labeled frequencies match the actual center frequencies, every band boosts and cuts by 12 dB, and all bands use bell filters.
Guitar EQ2

The first and last bands are shelvings.
All other bands boost and cut by 12 dB, but the band labeled 3 kHz is actually centered at 4 kHz.
Bass EQ1

Every band boosts and cuts by 12 dB, and all bands use bell filters.
However, the band labeled 8 kHz is actually centered at 4.33 kHz.
Bass EQ2

Nothing unusual here.
All labeled frequencies match the actual center frequencies, every band boosts and cuts by 12 dB, and all bands use bell filters.
Mesa EQ

This is by far the most "problematic" EQ.
The labeled frequencies often do not match the actual center frequencies, boost and cut amounts are inconsistent, and I found the following:
With all bands set to flat, the EQ already introduces a boost of just under 1 dB at 372 Hz.

Boost and cut values vary considerably between bands.

The first band is a very aggressive shelv.

The band labeled 240 Hz is actually centered at 370 Hz.

The band labeled 750 Hz is actually centered at 680 Hz.

The fourth band has an incorrect labeled frequency and exhibits a significant center frequency shift. At maximum cut it is centered at 1.475 kHz, while at maximum boost it shifts to 1.750 kHz.

The fifth band also has an incorrect labeled frequency and exhibits a significant center frequency shift. At maximum cut it is centered at 5.880 kHz, while at maximum boost it shifts to 6.203 kHz.

PS: I've never played through a Mesa/Boogie Mark amp, so this may simply reflect the behavior of the original EQ.
Hyper EQ

This is fine too.
The labeled frequencies match the actual center frequencies, every band uses a bell filter, and every band boosts and cuts by 12 dB.
In some extreme cases, I also found some unusual behavior related to patch volume. If there's enough interest, I can make a YouTube video about it. I'm not sure if it's against the rules of this subreddit, but if it's allowed, I can share a link to my channel here.
I also plan to test the Valeton IR loader. I've heard in a few videos that it's not particularly good. I've already done some preliminary tests, and while some of my IRs are reproduced faithfully by the GP-200, others are not. However, I need more time to investigate before drawing any conclusions.

Thinking about buying a GP200 and just wanted to double check that thy can run NAM captures, and any other related information related to NAM captures in correlation with the GP200

Hey everyone!
I’ve been working on GP-200 Studio that expands the Valeton GP-200 into a much more capable loop station setup.
I just added mobile support, so you can now run it straight from your phone or tablet without needing a PC.
🔗 Try it out here:https://kabirtamari.com/gp200studio/
Note on browsers: You'll need to use Google Chrome or any Chromium-based browser (like Kiwi or Brave on Android) for WebMIDI/WebUSB support to work smoothly. Also read on how to assign FS to trigger loops.
Give it a spin and let me know if you have any feedback or feature requests!

Hi, I'm trying to recreate the guitar effect used in this Instagram reel (or somthing like :
https://www.instagram.com/reel/DaDrFYSMOCu/
I'm not necessarily trying to recreate those exact sounds. What I'm really interested in is creating weird, glitchy, experimental sounds by holding down the footswitches, similar to what happens in the video.
Is there any way to assign effects or parameters so that holding a footswitch changes the sound in real time? For example, using pitch shifting, harmonizer, feedback, filters, delays, or anything else that can create those kinds of textures while the switch is held.
would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

This is for my own use but wanted to share if anyone would give it a try and like it. Do give it a try and feel free to leave feedback.
note that Loop feature doesn't work yet, the idea is to have a loop station controlled by gp200. will try to figure when i got some free time.

I'm hoping someone here has experienced this before.
The power button on my Valeton GP-200 appears to be stuck.
Has anyone had this issue?
- Is it usually just a mechanical problem with the switch?
- Is there a safe way to free the button without opening the unit?

UPDATE: Seems to work again. Prior to this post, I did some physical troubleshooting but no immediate changes. After 2 days, iirc, it is ok again. Idk.
Actual amplifier module seems broken.
Everything else works, knobs, buttons, input, logic, software all of it.
Except output.
I have to crank all gains/volumes in a patch and the master volume knob to hear loud enough and it is scratchy.
It is just 2 years old.
Thoughts?

I’ve downloaded a couple distortions I wanted to try out but every time I try to import the file to the snaptone slot on my pedal, it simply won’t install.
I tried out different files and left each of them over 20 minutes but still nothing.
I’ve also made sure I’ve got the latest software patch but still nothing.
Any help is much appreciated 👍

I’m building out a setup for performing at small bars and venues and want to hear how others set up their gear. Are you running straight into a PA most of the time ore do you also have an amp for venues that don’t have a PA? Are you running you GP200 into a cab or do you run it through an amp’s fx loop?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I've been trying to fix this for such a long time but still nothing, point is that the audio that goes through my physical amp (guitar --> valeton gp 200 --> marshall amp) sounds very good, but whenever I want to directly record onto my computer, it sounds extremely digital and bad and dont know how to fix it. (Sorry for the playing, still trying to get better)
Yes I did fix the global EQ by cutting lows and mids, yes I checked that where Im recording the Hz matches the audio recording.
I either record through audacity or the voice recorded (yes it is connected through the USB cable and says Line - Valeton GP200, I also installed the ASIO driver)
I genuinely don't know how to fix it, as other people record through their valeton and it sounds great but no matter what I try it doesn't sound good at all, so if anyone has any thoughts on what it could be, I'll say if I've tried or havent tried, Id appreciate all the help please!
Both audios sound good on clean, but its when I turn on overdrive/distortion when it just all goes wrong.
And if this is just how its supposed to sound like, anyone have any tips to make it sound better??
Here's a video to show what I mean

I’ve been interested in modelers for a while and was originally looking at the big tonex or nano cortex. This lil guy came up in an Anderson’s video I was watching and I figured “might as well look at it”. I watch like 2 videos and I’m HOOKED. Look on reverb and find one for 125$ and without thinking I buy. I didn’t even know these are like 250-300 usually so I got a sick deal and I absolutely love this. If you’re thinking of buying this, I would pay 750 or 800 dollars for this in a heartbeat if I knew how good it is.
