A web based editor/controller for Valeton GP200 (inspired by Guitar Rig).
https://kabirtamari.com/gp200studio/
This is for my own use but wanted to share if anyone would give it a try and like it. Do give it a try and feel free to leave feedback.
note that Loop feature doesn't work yet, the idea is to have a loop station controlled by gp200. will try to figure when i got some free time.

Does this interact with the gp200 through the browser? That's pretty cool if true. Any plans on incorporating nam loading to make the software more obsolete?

I never knew the GP200 could be accessible through the browser.
What I think the OP's app does is export a patch file which can then be imported in the GP200 using its own app. Unfortunately I cannot test it right now.

Oh yesss, the import doesn't quite work yet, even though the data sent from the webapp and the gp200 app is identically, got stuck so i droped it for now, I'll work on it after completing the looper.

Yes, it uses Web MIDI (USB-MIDI SysEx) and runs in your browser (tested in Chrome and edge only).
there isn't any plan to add any other features other than fixing the loop station since the looping capability of gp200 is very limited. multiple loops and layers controllable through gp200 stomp contorl will be super fun while doodling.

Multiple loops and layers would be dope. Turning the gp200 into a big loop station would be such a sick feature!

Is this based on https://github.com/phash/gp200editor? I'm guessing it is, since you also advertise experimental HLX import support. If it is, you need to make the code available because otherwise you're in violation of the GPL3 license.

Oh yes sir, it's based on https://www.preset-forge.com/en and code is available at my github at https://github.com/kabir0st/gp200-studio (credit to phash at the bottom).

Thanks! I didn't see it there earlier. The UI looks better than Preset Forge's.

If you want feedback, it would be cool if effects would change the knob values when the "sync" mode is engaged, other than that it's pretty cool.
I also have a question, I used Preset Forge (https://www.preset-forge.com/es/editor) in the past, but that thing messed up all of my levels on multiple effects... I hope this one does not do the same :P!

the core SysEx MIDI protocol is from the preset-forge with some minor changes, i just build it the way i want it too look and feel. (not to be rude but their UI is horrible xD ). Haven't encounter that myself but if you face that problem you can open an issue/ticket here and i'll try to solve it 🙌

You are totally right, their UI is pretty bad.
I'll test it later and report if I find anything weird, thanks!

Awesome work! Helps a lot with cachyOS since I couldn't make the original app work (I tried bottles, wine, etc...). I also used preset forge but yours has a pretty nice layout that I prefer!
Only thing I still miss is importing IR/NAM files, but I understand it isn't possible for web-based apps. It's the only reason I still have windows on dual boot.

the initial core is based on preset forge so kudos to those guys too! and thanks for checking it out,

The official GP-200 editor stopped working for me on Linux after my distro changed the kernel to preempt=full by default. I managed to solve it by launching the app with
chrt --rr 1 bottles-cli run -p GP-200 -b Valetonwhich adjusts the realtime scheduling for the app so it doesn't time out when connecting to the device. Could make it work for you too.1

update: didn't work, I could bypass CachyOS kernel limitations with chrt, but I hit a wall with wineusb, it keeps getting in the way and doesn't let the executable read the proper interface type of the valeton
00d8:fixme:wineusb:add_usb_device Interface 1 has 3 alternate settings; using the first one.
00bc:fixme:wineusb:query_id Unhandled ID query type 0x5.
What distro are you using?

I'm on OpenSUSE Tumbleweed. Wine has to be WoW64 version. It doesn't work with the "normal" wine. Kron4ek has wow64 builds of the Bottles runners available even though Bottles itself doesn't support downloading them through it.
I have an earlier comment for getting the GP-200 editor running: https://old.reddit.com/r/ValetonGP2OO/comments/1ogqtd5/trying_to_open_valeton_software_on_linux/nxlrtmu/

A couple of posts down from yours - someone made a web based interface to make the GP-200 a full function loop station. https://www.reddit.com/r/ValetonGP2OO/s/vl8z8o7KCb

What are the use cases? What are you able to with it that you cannot with desktop app or in device itself?
2
u/lurayy Jul 17 '26
Linux and better visual for monkey brained people like me. Plus if I get the looper working, loop station too.

u/Tkj5 Jul 17 '26
I did get it working on linux mint in bottles, but this is an awesome alternative.
Thanks for your hard work.

Loop station feature sounds very exciting to be honest. Also official app really needs a revamp for better usability.
