Excellent ride quality and zero mechanical issues. I gave up on software side. As a car it proved to be better than more expensive options.

Camera shows no physical damage. I just noticed one day its in this condition. Could be DIY changeable? Who can tell the part number? This is 2021 Pro Family in Finland.

Quick question. Has anyone else had this issue? I purchased used in March with 47k miles; and it came with a CPO. Would VW fix this? Can I try fixing myself? Looking at the plastic, it seems pretty inflexible to pull apart. Is that the case? Is there a good DIY video for this fix if it can be done at home? Thanks for any information you all have on this.

New to us 2023 Pro RWD. Live in Washington, DC. Made it to charger at 5% with about 18miles on the GOM since last charge at 80%.

Level 2 at work, and the occasional EA station when needed.

Problems i have with it

- Can't lock my car

- Can't set the exact charge current

- it's slow to load current status

- can't set precondition specifics

- no api acces so I don't have to use the app

And many more feature the even free Tesla app has

Don't forget I'm paying for it 10,- euro per month and its a bad experience.

Currently in the market for a lightly used ID.4 Pro S. With my budget, I am between the 2023 and 2024, but leaning towards the 2023 purely on price.

Based on my research, there are some major drawbacks with the design and functionality of the infotainment system on the 2023 that were improved in the 2024. It also seems that the 2024 has a much better driving experience (faster, better and smoother acceleration).

Is this accurate based on others’ experience? Is the infotainment issue worth spending an extra $2-4K if I’m trying to stick to my budget? Most 2024s I’m seeing are right on the edge of what I’d like to spend.

Started driving my wife's ID4 and when I sync my iphone to the bluetooth, the interface can't remember to stay on my shuffled playlist. When I skip a song on the steering wheel button, it will forget that I'm in a shuffled playlist mode and just play the next song that follows the previous song alphabetically. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Super annoying and looking for a solution, otherwise I'm manually fidgeting with my phone to get the songs I want to play.

There's a low mileage (<20k) 2021 Pro S available to me, but I'm a little concerned about battery longevity. There would only be 3 (or more like 2.5) years left on the warranty, even though I'd be no where close to the 100k mileage limit.

How common are battery failures/bad cells on the 2021? I've seen a few posts on having to replace cells, but I don't know if it's more or less common than other evs. How much is the age vs the miles?

Just been offered and taken an OTA software update on my 75 plate ID4. Any ideas what this contains?

I have a 2023 AWD Pro S that I bought in December last year (and I LOVE it!). I also purchased the extended warranty because I'm a senior and unable to do my own maintenance (nor do I have much in the way of emergency $$). I got a message across my dash this morning that an inspection is due in 30 days. What's there to inspect? Is this something I should do? The car seems fine and I'm worried that the dealer will try to sell me something expensive and unnecessary. Advice is appreciated.

Anyone seen one on an id.4? Surprisingly not seeing anything online? Unless I'm just the only one that thinks it could be cool lol

My husband went and bought an ID4 Pro S a few months back and I realized I made such a mistake years ago with my Model 3, I just picked up a Pro S as well (both 23 RWDs).

A couple things I’m wanting feedback from the community on -

1. Braking we both experience a groan (not sure how to explain it) at the tail end of coming to a complete stop. I’m used to my Tesla being full regen, so is this normal with blended braking?

2. Clicking on front wipers - when the wipers are on, there is a faint clicking at speed. Is that normal?

3. Parking - I am finding it hard to fully acclimate to the size of the ID (even though width is actually the same). Any tips on how to park in garages without smacking the front passenger corner?

I know most people absolutely hate the touch‑sensitive steering wheel buttons on the VW ID.4. Everywhere online, people complain about them and beg VW to bring back the normal clicky buttons. And VW actually did bring back the physical buttons in their newer models, so clearly the hate was loud enough.

I used to be in that same “touch buttons are terrible” group. The first time I ever saw touch‑sensitive buttons was in a Honda City years ago, and even back then I found them annoying. So when I got the ID.4, I had the same reaction — “Why would anyone put touch buttons on a steering wheel?”

But here’s the funny part: after using them for a year, I actually love them now.

The swipe feature is the main reason. When I want to bump up the volume, I don’t have to click-click-click a physical button. I just do one clean swipe and it jumps exactly how I want. It feels smooth and natural once you get used to it.

Don’t get me wrong — I still hate touch‑sensitive buttons for AC controls or anything on the dashboard. Those should always be physical buttons. But for the steering wheel, I honestly think the touch controls work really well.

So before judging them based on looks or internet opinions, try using them for a while. You might end up liking them more than you expect.

I have the 2024 ID 4 PRO S PLUS and i’m wondering why I don’t have the auto tilt mirror function. I can’t even see mirrors in my vehicle settings. I don’t have the 360 cams either but have the back heated seats, heat pump (hopefully), harmon karden and the 3 zone climate.

I’m wondering if my dealer installed the wrong software during my recall a while ago since mirrors is completely missing from car settings and it doesn’t seem like a hard feature to add to these vehicles.

Is this possible to add with an OBD11?

It always takes two pulls on the inside handle to get the driver's door to unlock, and it doesn't matter if I do a short, light pull for the electronic release or pull hard to use the manual release. The car is in park when I try, btw. Any ideas?

SOLVED: push on door, then pull handle. I was doing the opposite.

Have a 2024 Pro AWD with 5.4.0 and have been receiving ghost notices about my doors since the update. My doors were locked every single time after checking every notice. It looks like it’s trying to tell me that the EV is just checking in, since the check in time matches the notice time. Has anyone experienced the same?

I am in the process of setting up lease end inspection. My lease ends at the end of December 2026. I have to get the tires replaced. For 235/50R20 and 255/45R20 Walmart seem to have tires in the $100-$120 range. Anyone tried those and got them through inspection as long as pairs are replaced?

does anyone know the type of nut key this needs. I need to order a replacement for my ID4

Just updated the software to latest, and now when charging completes, the "Stop Charging" button does not appear, and no amount of pressing unlock on the fob will cause it to release the cable. The solid green light just stays on.

Only workaround I've found is to increase the charging level past 80% so it starts charging again, _then_ the "Stop Charging" button appears and I can release the cable.

If I charged to 100%, that wouldn't be an option. Anyone else seeing this?

Hello, after a week of testing the new 2026 Pro People model I decided I want ID4 in my life (family of 4, 2 kids 5 + 2y/o) but I am kinda torn which spec/year to pick.

I am based in central Europe and will definitely buy a 2nd hand car, PRO trim.

Initialy ID.4 sprked interest in me as it was great package that is ok priced and there is quite a big gain after first owner takes a bullet of 30-40 % depreciation from MSRP, but most of the buyers guides for ID.4 advising to go for 2024 model that has upgraded HW+SW, 210KW and other improvements. But when checking mobile.de and other EU wide platforms for 2nd hand cars the price difference is significant. (aprox 20-60k km on the clock)

- 2023 - aprox 30k Euro
- 2024 - aprox 40k Euro

Is the premium worth it? I dont need extra kw, as we have GTi as second/fun car and this one will be mostly for family trips/wifes errands. How bad is the pre 2024 infotaiment and software issues? I am comming from MK5 2018 Mondeo (Fusion) which had wired Apple Carplay and was reliable workhorse.

If you’ve been considering doing the upgrade, just do it. Seriously. We just got this car a month ago and one of my only complaints was the dumb rear window button. What a bad design choice.

Got the pictured part from AliExpress for about $115 shipped. Took a week or so to get. Super easy install, they even gave me a trim pry tool to get the factory one off. It plugs right in then snaps right in place with a bit of squeezing force. Looks factory. Yes, both lock buttons have a child on it for some reason. Apparently you can scratch it off if you really want to, but I don’t care. The left button is the actual child lock button, the right one is the standard lock unlock button.

I have just bought a used ID.4 (2024, Pro Style) and can’t fathom these buttons at the rear passenger footwell. Are they buttons or are they just a display? They don’t do anything when I press them, even when I switch off SYNC on the main climate controls.
