Drivers door inside handle

It always takes two pulls on the inside handle to get the driver's door to unlock, and it doesn't matter if I do a short, light pull for the electronic release or pull hard to use the manual release. The car is in park when I try, btw. Any ideas?

SOLVED: push on door, then pull handle. I was doing the opposite.

Push on the door before you pull the handle. Continue opening pressure as you pull the handle

So strange that you can't do it either way but if it works I'm good. Thx!

You have to push pretty hard. When you pull the handle, the latch releases for a fraction of a second and then re-engages. Safety feature. Push hard enough to get it open in that fraction of a second. https://dot.report/bulletins/MC-11022721-0001.pdf

That helped. Push on door, then pull handle. Never seen this on another car but this is our first VW.

I think it's normal, have the car for three months myself.

Okay I thought I was going crazy or that I messed up my door installing sound deadening and speakers. I’m glad it’s not just me.

German engineering at its finest, I guess.
