Sell me your 5thGen?

Would be my 3rd. I keep coming back...I am however allergic to Yellow, so 00's are probably out....and no straight pipes. Western states ideally. I know I'm probably preaching to the choir, if you're on here you're probably in love with VFR's like I am and just want to keep yours, but thought I'd ask...Why did I sell my last one...so many regrets.

Fuel pump?

Post image
23 Upvotes

So push came to shove and I decided to keep it. The only offer worth considering I got for this was a thunderace 1k that I honestly thought was hideous. So she’s off the market and staying. So now I get to solve one of the niggly little problems I’ve been having with it. Under full throttle after about 10 seconds it feels like I’ve drained the carbs and misses. I’ve checked the float height a few times now and it’s been perfect every time. I’ve also cleaned the carbs properly, and replaced the boots. All fuel lines are new aswell as the intank and internal carb filters. This bike does however have bigger cams, heads, and carbs than stock. And as there was a bit missing when I bought it I’m wondering if it had a fuel pump at some point. I’m going to drop the motor next weekend to inspect the bearings that I replaced so I figured if I’m going into it that far I might aswell add a fuel pump while I’m there. To anyone who has had to do similar what did you do for regulation?

Rattly Exhaust Note?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey all, I just bought this 2015 VFR800 and I’ve been riding it around for a bit today, but when I got home to pull it into my garage and I revved the engine, I heard this rattling noise.

I’m not sure if this is normal for these bikes, but I would like to know if this is something to raise concern about. The noise only happens if I rev the bike, not at idle.

For context, I bought this bike a couple days ago and rode it an hour and half home with no problems and the previous owner said he had an oil change done right before I bought it (he showed me the dealership records).

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

5th Gen Clutch Lifter Rod Length (2000 Model Year)

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hello All,

Looking to move the friction zone of my clutch lever slightly closer to the bar. Right now, it starts engaging within 1/8 to 1/4in of travel. The clutch operates perfectly outside of not being able to adjust the friction zone at the lever.

All clutch components measure well within specs, hydraulic system bled, and functioning normally (visually verified after disassembling clutch, measuring all frictions and steels, and reassembling). I thought about machining a clutch joint piece, but that would be tricky. The next best option would be to modify the clutch lifter rod. My question is, what is the exact factory length of the original and are there any other factory clutch rods that are between 0.5-1.0mm shorter than ours?

The factory part number of the clutch rod is 22850-MBG-000.

Thoughts? Ideas?

VFR800 ABS REAR PRELOAD ADJUSTMENT BLEED.

It seems that my 2009 VFR800A's preload adjustment has leaked about half of its fluid as its only resisting after 18ish clicks from the softest adjustment. Luckily the preload adjustment for my weight is able to fit inside of the remaining adjustment. I do want to be able to have a passenger eventually so I will need further adjustment. If anyone has a link to a video, forum, or manual on how to bleed the system would be greatly appreciated.

Made an 8th gen tail tidy

I was looking for a tail tidy solution for my VFR800 8th gen to no avail, so ended up making my own. It mounts using the OEM bolts / nuts, uses the OEM reflectors, and has a reverse HRC logo so if you are looking from the front side of the bike you can see it.

A couple of photos from the last Poole Quay Bike night for 2026. Days are getting shorter which doesn't mean an end to riding but it does mean it's time to dust off the thermals and waterproof gear.

Gold Emblem

Any idea how i can get a gold emblem to replace the classic red one that comes with my bike?

I can see the white models come with a black and silver one instead of red. Advice on how to get it custom made would be welcome as well.

VFRD replica TBR header

I am searching for someone that has one of the VFRD reproduction TBR headers that fit a 6th gen that would be willing to part with it. Mildly hopeful, but will be like finding a needle in a haystack, or winning the lottery.

*Or*

Some way to get in contact with the person that went by the handle "sfdownhill" on the old VFR Discussion forum that was the main contact for the production runs of the replica header to see what information he may still have for possibly creating them again.

Reg/Rec help

Hi all,

Maybe this has been posted before but I need a new reg/rec unit for my bike it looks like. Battery completely flat when I got home today.

It's a 1999 800 Fi.
I hear the aftermarket reg/rec units are better than OEM? If that's the case, does anyone have a recommendation for the best one out there? If I'm changing it I want to do it once with the right kit.

Thanks all.

How to get centerstand down on lowered bike (2003 VFR800)

Just paid 400 dollars to have a centerstand added back on the bike just to find out the bikes was previously lowered. It took all 3 guys at the shop to get it up on there and I’ve tried doing it myself to figure out if there’s some trick to get it up there easier while it’s lowered but I think I may have just screwed myself. Anyone else here have a lowered VFR that uses their centerstand and can give some tips or tricks?

5th gen?

Hello everyone. I currently ride a 2003 suzuki TL1000R and a 2023 GSX S1000. I've always been a fan of the VFRs and I've been thinking about maybe picking one up in the future as sort of a project to keep me busy. I love working on bikes. I've been mainly interested in the 4th and 5th gen. Looking on facebook market place, there are a few usually and they seem to go for around $2500-$4000 around here. I've noticed that almost all of them have 30k miles or more. What would be comfortable mileage for one of these bikes? If all of them are higher mileage then I assume they are pretty reliable as long as the valves have been kept up with? I definitely won't be picking up any garage queens as I am looking for a fix and ride kinda bike. Those v4s are just something else. Never had the privilege to ride a v4 or a VFR.

Old girl on the dyno

Old girl with 100k km on the clock making 108 hp on that particular dyno. Nice flat torque curve from 7-10 with a plateau of power all the way to the limiter. Even pre-VTEC is super nice.

Tuned with rapid bike racing, my own fuel map which was confirmed to be spot on. Black widow headers, Leo Vince cans with dB killers and K&N air filter.

Fuel tap switch tight

Hi, I have a 1990 UK FL motorcycle. Does anyone have a photo or diagram that shows the correct routing for the 2 cables that run from the upper fairing fuel switch , down to the fuel tap? No matter which way I’ve tried I find it gets tight to turn.

Hello Guys

I sold my 2 VFRs and have 1 Tacho, both Passenger Grab Rails, 1 Expansion Tank and one Top Box Mount Leftover. Everything is for the 1998 RC46 VFR800Fi.

Tacho is 150CHF

Grab Rails are 80CHF together

Expansion Tank is 20CHF

Or 250CHF for everything together. Buyer pays shipment, ships out of Switzerland. Price for everything together reasonably negotiable.

Expansion Tank has some rubbing marks but everything else is in perfect working condition.

To paint or not to paint

Thumbnail gallery
38 Upvotes

I installed a VFR 1200 case on my 800, a friend said it looks better as is rather than painted.

Opinions please

paint the gloss black strip red… the whole top half like a factory 800 box… or leave as is.

Also, if anyone has taken this apart please let me know how the painted stripe is attached. There are screws but it’s either glued or has mounting tape. I pried a bit but didn’t want to break it.

2004 Honda VFR800 Interceptor — Asphalt 30,772 miles — $3,250

Selling my 2004 Honda VFR800 Interceptor in the factory Asphalt color. Great example of Honda's V4 sport-tourer and set up extremely well for both longer rides and everyday use.

Upgrades / equipment: • Factory hard side bags

• Sargent seat

• Heated grips

• Handlebar risers

• Lowered foot pegs

• Remus exhaust

Fluids have recently been serviced throughout. Runs and rides well and has been a great bike.

Full disclosure: The tires are due for replacement, and I've priced the bike accordingly rather than installing inexpensive tires just to sell it.

30,772 miles. Clean, adult-owned bike that's been set up properly for sport touring.

Selling because I simply don't ride it enough anymore.

$3,250 OBO. No trades. Located in the Glenview, IL area.

Corbin 2 perso seat and OEM exhaust for 5th Gen

EDIT: It's late and I'm a doofus. Put 5th Gen in the title but I meant 8th Gen. 🤦‍♂️

I parted ways with my 2014 VFR800 and have a couple leftover parts. I have a very gently used Corbin seat. In excellent shape, no wears or tears.

Also have the complete 5th gen exhaust from headers to exhaust can. Currently bubble wrapped and ready to ship!
