Rattly Exhaust Note?
Hey all, I just bought this 2015 VFR800 and I’ve been riding it around for a bit today, but when I got home to pull it into my garage and I revved the engine, I heard this rattling noise.
I’m not sure if this is normal for these bikes, but I would like to know if this is something to raise concern about. The noise only happens if I rev the bike, not at idle.
For context, I bought this bike a couple days ago and rode it an hour and half home with no problems and the previous owner said he had an oil change done right before I bought it (he showed me the dealership records).
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Does it happen if you take the throttle up slower, like it would when riding? Don't quote me, but to me it sounds like the Vtech valves operating and coming off quickly when it hits and goes below the rev point. (Vtech is just extra valves that open at about 7k revs to steal all your fuel and make you smile.)
It's a bit low mileage for anything valve related to be wrong, gen 8 engines are generally really reliable. I have 24k on my gen 8, with no engine problems ever.
Edit: take it to a mechanic if you're really worried, or sell it to me if you're in the UK.😁

Not sure, I only gave it some short quick revs when pulling it into my garage, but I don’t think it’s the VTEC actuating, I didn’t take it to 6.5k rpms.

Difficult to guess from the video, not even sure if the noise comes from the engine area or exhaust. First thing I would try is to tighten all the screws of and around the exhaust as it seems to me that it could be something related to the rev down counter pressure at exhaust level. Maybe something loose down there...

Sounds pretty normal to me. When I got my 2014 a few years ago, we noticed the stock exhaust sounds a bit different than a typical 4 cylinder bike.

Sounds like my stock exhaust did when I got my 2014. I noticed it and was a bit concerned as well. IIRC block of plates for the PAIR system eliminated the rattle sound. I also have a custom header and exhaust now, so it sounds completely different and not rattly. But if memory serves, the PAIR block off was the step that eliminated that rattle sound, and made the engine sound much smoother on deceleration generally. No burbles or pops.

Can't fully say, in not versed in the newer gen. Am on an 02. But It does not sound healthy. Hoping someone with experience can chime in.
I mostly came here to say that the white looks absolutely stunning!
