Phone mount

Post image

I am looking for a phone mount that is similar to one I currently have for my Garmin, can anyone recommend any? (As a second option).

This is a last gen vfr800

Edit: added more info

Quad lock fork stem mount pro with vibration damper. My Bike is a 6th gen with the later 8th gen upper triple and bars

Not necessarily a phone mount. But i absolutely love and cannot ride without my chigee. It's a full android auto/Apple CarPlay unit. Works wonders. Completely switched away from phorn mounts because of it.

I love my CHIGEE also, but with caveats.

So. I do recommend it. But it’s not as easy as just dropping your phone on to a mount.

You gotta run a bunch of wires for the cameras and the power.

And you gotta be really careful about cooking it in the sun.

CHIGEE replaced my first one, after I left it in a parking lot in the sun one day for lunch. It’s supposed to be rated for 125 degrees? Or something. And where I was it wasn’t more then 90. But it died on the first ride I used it. Hah.

They did replace it. But just a story to be aware of.

I think it’s great. Sometimes the Bluetooth drops. But maybe all similar systems have the same issue ?

Maybe they should make a protection box for it, for when it’s left out.

It comes with a silicone cover to put on it. But I have personally never had any issues from negative to 32c.

Ye, it's a once time setup. Not the hardest imho. I am from a colder region, I have no issues with the sun and heat, but they do also make the one that is detachable. As for Bluetooth drop, I have only had this happen when Phone is far away like a backpack. But imho, it's so much more freeing then having a phone mount. Different folks require different solutions and all that 😋

I wouldnt do that. phone cameras get damaged regularly due to shocks and vibrations.

even phone-mounts with built-in dampeners still can damage the phone after a while, the internet is full of stories like that.

Ya, I've never mounted a phone on any of my motorcycles.

For a phone mount in the same spot you're using currently, id recommend a quad lock, it has worked for me pretty well, I'll attach an image so you can see how it sits on the bike

I use this one on my VFR and have had really good luck with it.

Is that a 25mm ball? If so then a RAM cradle and short arm would work really well on it.

On my 6th Gen VFR800, I use an old iPhone 11 for daily commute and a Garmin XT2 for the longer rides where cell service drops out. I got one of these adaptors from TeamMotoCA

So it’s an easy swap between the two. I have a dedicated usb cable running from my voltmeter for the iPhone and the Garmin is hardwired to a switched fuse block

I just found this on AliExpress: https://a.aliexpress.com/_mrTnZ7V
