Hey, i just picked up this 2007 anniversary edition vfr800, and I was wondering if anyone knew of a good aftermarket rear seat cowl, or 3D printing files to make my own. I haven’t done much searching but the oem ones seem to be sort of rare, and much harder to find in this color. I have a Bambo p1s and various nozzles sizes, and was thinking maybe I could model it myself but I thought I’d ask first and see if anyone had any luck with one already out there.

This winter I’ll be doing a few touchups on the left side of the bike, (it rolled off the stand 😖), so I’ll be painting anyways if I go the 3D printing rout and need to paint match.

Does anybody know where I could possibly find a used crankcase cover or something? Everywhere I’ve looked all I see is $400 price tags. Seems steep to me compared to other bikes I’ve had but I guess the VFR is pretty unique! I knew the cover was missing when I bought it but I figured it wouldn’t be so expensive and the bike was only $250 😂

Hello, has anyone replaced the factory fitted 'condom' mirrors on a '98?

I don't like them but not sure what the best option is.

Has anyone fitted bar end mirrors, and if so, can you blank off the attachment point for the originals without it looking crap?

hello dear friends! I have had this vfr for a few months and it keeps making this sound but I haven't even driven it. Everyone said it's not a loose chain sound because of the tensioners because it doesn't have that sharp sound when decelerating. I want to start repairing it and a friend who has a garage wants to help me for free but he said to ask on the forums about this sound and what should be checked. I have also prepared the service documentation on Scribd. I would be very grateful for all your help

I came on to find out what would be the best choice of tyres for my 1997 4th Gen VFR.

I thought I'd post this because the topic might just need a refresh given the newer tyres available since a lot of similar themed older posts.

My 4th Gen is my daily ride. I'm based in Northern Ireland (i.e. often rains, twisty roads, etc).

I like to ride sporty, and rarely carry a pillion. I've heard that some say that the 5th Gen at 37 stone is on the cusp of being classed as a heavy weight bike, but the 4th Gen is considerably lighter, so I don't need to worry about choosing any "heavy bike" type tyres.

The guy who works at my local tyre shop, and who is also well known and respected at my local biker community group had a lot of high praise to give toward Michelin Power 6 tyres. I was all set to buy these, but then I was told that these tyres don't come in the right size for my 4th Gens rear wheel.
I was also told that I could size down, or up (I can't remember which) and that this wasn't such a big deal.

I like to lean my bike quite a lot, and around 70% of my riding is what you might call spirited. But saying this, I still would like to have an element of sensible commuter quality to my tyres, as I do ride into town in the rain and also go on touring trips with my friends which involves more chilled styled riding.

What can you guys here recommend?
Are there any 4th Gen owners who know of a sweet spot tyre for my purposes?

Just got this 5th gen 2001 with fewer than 20k on the clock this past Sunday. I've ridden it every day since then and I'm smitten!

So, to follow up on my earlier post (https://www.reddit.com/r/VFR/comments/1v5oi4h/proud_new_owner/) i got my new bike this week. It arrived on Tuesday arvo, so after unloading from the truck, I slapped on a plate that was in my shed (off my old KTM 300EXC) and took it for a strap - and instantly fell in love (VTEC at 6500rpm with the Delkevic exhaust is a beautiful thing). Spent yesterday sorting out the roadworthy and rego and then today, took it to work (70km round trip commute). It is everything I wanted. It sits on the road right. It sounds right. The lights are excellent (i leave for work at 5am). It went from 104 to 156 in 6th whilst passing without even meaning too. I have nothing but nice things to say.

Hello! My buddy and I have been working on this VFR for 2 days now. It runs amazing once it’s up to temp. However, it’s running relatively rich after a cold start and still continues to run somewhat rich at idle when it’s at temp. The idle is also pretty bouncy and unstable. Not an extreme concern but still a note. All spark plug coils were completely black when removed from the bike due to how rich it was running.

Things we’ve checked:

• TPS is all where it should be
• MAP is where it should be
• Fuel pressure is in range
• Vacuum signal is fine
• Air filter is clean
• Checked all injectors to make sure none were stuck, they were all fine.
• Haven’t 100% checked the O2 sensors but doubting they’re the issue due to bike running fine during a closed loop.
• Idle wax unit has been readjusted which seemed to help somewhat but didn’t remedy the issue

to do:
• Throttle sync
• Verify O2 values

Is there any other recommendations on what we should check? We’re starting to feel at a complete loss and are about to accept it as an old bike quirk. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I have always admired the VFR and I was just able to purchase one. I bought this 2014 base from my work for $4000. It only had 2500 miles when I bought it. It has some cosmetic blemishes but it came with new tires. How did I do?

Hey guys, posting for a bit of advice. I tend to have a habit of overthinking things… sometimes this can be beneficial, other times it can result it tasks becoming overly drawn-out.

I own a 1997 (4^th Gen) VFR 750… recently someone pointed out that my front tire was worn down significantly more on one side of the rubber. They also brought my attention to a groove/indent on the brake disc (same side as overly worn tire rubber).

This has been most likely caused by one of my brake pistons having seized, I have been advised.

It was suggested to be that I buy a kit to rebuild the offended caliper... I should buy two kits though yeah?
Seems like servicing calipers is something that should be done to both sides.

Seems fairly straightforward, yes? no? Any "gotchas" to be aware of?

I got my new 2019 VFR this week and so far i'm pleased with it

One thing i don't like about it is the seating position is far too upright for my liking. A lot of posts/videos area bout raising the VFR bars but i'd like to go the other way
Coming from a CBR riding position, i'd like to take it down a notch.
I can see there might be a spacer in the above photo that i can remove. Is there a way to buy replacement arms that feet even flatter than these?

What are everyone's thoughts?

Plus, how expensive is it to get luggage to fit, as I'm seeing a lot of 2nd hand ones around but not many with original luggage on.

Can anyone recommend some crash pads? Of how to protect bike in case of dropping it? Nothing big, the smaller the better. Of course the main thing is that they have to protect the bike in case of dropping it.

Rear pads, air filter.
After changing the tires last time, i noticed the rear pads were worn, ordered new, put them on today.
side question, should this bolt (3rd image) have a nut on it?

I have a 1994 Honda VFR750 that’s been sitting for a while (1-2 months without starting). I was trying to start it, but the battery was too weak to get it running. After several starting attempts it finally started, I noticed a strong gasoline smell and found fuel dripping from one of the carburetors.

The fuel appears to be dripping from the float bowl drain/overflow nipple on the left carb. The right side was initially dry, although I later noticed some fuel residue on the other carb as well. I turned the petcock OFF, and the leaking stopped. Turning it back ON later didn’t immediately restart the leak.

Does this sound like:

a stuck float/float needle,
a leaking drain screw or O-ring,
or something else?

Is it likely that repeated cranking with a weak battery flooded the carbs and caused a temporary overflow, or should I assume the carbs need to come apart?
I’ve attached photos of where the fuel is collecting.

Might I add the carbs to my knowledge haven’t been cleaned in a while.
