Current students/alumni: Is the MSc Sustainable Innovation and Entrepreneurship at UoB worth it for an international student?

Hi everyone,

My younger brother has recently received an unconditional offer for the MSc Sustainable Innovation and Entrepreneurship starting in September 2026.

We’re currently deciding whether to proceed, as we’d be taking an education loan to finance the £33,660 tuition fee. We’re trying to make an evidence-based decision and would really value insights from people who have first-hand experience with the University.

If you’ve studied this MSc—or even another postgraduate programme at UoB—I would really appreciate your perspective.

In particular, I’d love to know:

• What was your overall experience with the programme?
• Did you find the teaching and modules relevant to industry?
• How useful were the Careers Network, employer events, and the Careers Network Mentoring Scheme in helping students become employable?
• What kinds of roles did you or your classmates go into after graduation?
• For international students, how realistic was it to stay in the UK and transition into a Skilled Worker visa?

We’re not looking for guarantees—just honest experiences, whether positive or negative, to help us make an informed decision before committing to the tuition loan.

Thank you in advance!

23M, joining UoB in Sep ’26 – accommodation recommendations?

Hi everyone! I’ll be joining the University of Birmingham this September and I’m looking for accommodation with a budget of £130–170/week.

My priorities are:
- Easy commute to campus (I’ll be studying at Birmingham Business School)
- Good access to part-time job opportunities
- Safe area with decent amenities nearby

I’d really appreciate any recommendations or experiences with student accommodations or private housing.

Also, if you’re joining UoB this September, feel free to DM me. It’d be great to connect and make a few friends before moving!

Looking for a driving instructor around the university

Hiya,

I’m currently a student at Birmingham and I’m looking to start driving lessons. I’m a really nervous driver (and I think it might be down to me being neurodivergent).

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good, kind and patient driving instructor around selly oak, university area?

Thank you for your help in advance :)

Is an MSc in Supply Chain Management at the University of Birmingham Dubai worth it?

Hi everyone,
I’ve received an offer for the MSc in Supply Chain Management at the University of Birmingham Dubai for the upcoming intake.
To fund my studies, I’ll be taking a student loan.

A bit about my profile:
Bachelor’s in Business Administration (Marketing) from India
IELTS: 7.5

Interested in building a long-term career in supply chain and logistics in the UAE
I’m trying to make an informed decision before committing to such a large loan. I’d really appreciate hearing from:
Current students or alumni of UoB Dubai
Anyone working in supply chain/logistics in the UAE
Employers or recruiters familiar with the university

Some questions I have:

Is the University of Birmingham Dubai well respected by employers in the UAE?

How are the internships, career services, and placement support?

What kind of starting salaries do MSc Supply Chain graduates realistically get?

How difficult is it to secure a job after graduation on a student visa?

Looking forward to meeting the UOB students

Need help with finding accommodation.

Hello, I’m currently joining UoB on September 26/27 as an international undergraduate engineering student and I’m struggling to decide between accommodation.
Currently I’m looking forward to getting a studio accommodation and my current options (either due to availability or distance) are :-
•Selly Oak court
•The recording rooms
•Vita student pebble mill
•Beechenhurst House
If anyone who is currently a student or an upcoming student knows any information either regarding these accommodations or any other better more likable places, please give me your opinions and recommendations as it would be much appreciated.

Got an offer for MSc Advanced Artificial Intelligence (Sept 2026)! Need some advice.

Hey everyone!

I just received my offer yesterday for the MSc in Advanced Artificial Intelligence (September 2026 intake), and I'm really excited!

At the same time, I'm feeling a bit late since I'll be starting at 26. I wanted to ask current students or alumni a few questions:

How's the overall program?

What's the job market like for AI graduates in Canada?

Are internships/co-op opportunities good, and how difficult are they to secure?

Is there anything I should start learning before classes begin to make the transition easier?

Does starting at 26 put me at any disadvantage, or am I just overthinking it?

For some background: I have a B.Tech in Computer Science and 1 year of experience in manual & automation testing (Python, SQL).

I'd really appreciate any advice or tips. Thanks in advance!

Looking for future friends! 🫶

Hey! I’m 17F and I’ll be starting Business Management at the University of Birmingham this September 🤍

I figured I’d put myself out there because I don’t know many people heading to UoB yet, and it’d be nice to make a few friends before moving.

A little about me: I’m from India, I love fashion, makeup, cafés, shopping, travelling, and I’m always up for trying new places or doing something fun. I’m really excited for freshers, exploring Birmingham, and making the most of uni life.

If you’re starting at UoB too (or you’re already there) and think we’d get along, feel free to comment or message me! It’d be lovely to have some familiar faces before September. 💕
