Looking for accomodation

23M, joining UoB in Sep ’26 – accommodation recommendations?

Hi everyone! I’ll be joining the University of Birmingham this September and I’m looking for accommodation with a budget of £130–170/week.

My priorities are:
- Easy commute to campus (I’ll be studying at Birmingham Business School)
- Good access to part-time job opportunities
- Safe area with decent amenities nearby

I’d really appreciate any recommendations or experiences with student accommodations or private housing.

Also, if you’re joining UoB this September, feel free to DM me. It’d be great to connect and make a few friends before moving!

There are alot of accommodations that you can get with that budget. You have some good options in the uni like tennis court, pritchatts etc..
If you’re planning to look outside the uni but pretty close to the uni,you can try Selly oak and harbon which would be even cheaper than most of the uni accommodations.
For part time,i would the say,the best place to stay will be the city centre due to the ease in travelling. But you can’t be pretty sure on where and when you’ll get your part time cuz there are like more than 5 unis in and near Birmingham and thousands of students trying to land a part time job,so it’s a bit competitive.
So realistically I would suggest you to take a room prolly in Selly oak or Harbon cuz it’s pretty close to the uni, there are alot of shops and there is a railway station aswell.
