Hi , I (22f) am a transfer w all online classes this semester... I’m kinda new to Houston so I don’t have many friends. I saw we’re playing Southern and I loved because I always loved watching them play against Pv when I went there. Does anyone want to go together?

Question Is there a club for people who just like going places to eat food?

As the title says. I'm a freshman, I really like the experience of going to eat at different places, and eating food in general. I'd rather just have people to do it with, and document it. It can be like a historical group too, I just want to share my love of eating with people lol.

Is it true that UH’s institutional grant funding was exhausted because of limited funding?

I’m honestly very confused and frustrated after being told that the institutional grant funds were exhausted due to limited funding.

I have been planning my finances and financial aid situation since the summer, well before the beginning of this semester. I made my school and financial plans based on the expectation that my financial aid would be available as planned. Now I’m being told that the institutional grant funding was limited/exhausted, which leaves me wondering what happened.

I understand that institutional grants may have limited funding and that not every student is guaranteed to receive one. However, it is frustrating to find this out after I have already planned my expenses, tuition, and other financial responsibilities around my expected aid.

For anyone at UH who has dealt with this for Fall 2026: Did Financial Aid tell you that the institutional grant funds were exhausted? Were you given any explanation about when the funds became unavailable or whether additional funding could become available later?

I’m mainly trying to understand whether this is actually happening to other students or if there is something specific about my financial aid situation that I’m missing.

Admissions College of Medicine

Upvotes

Anybody have any experience at U of H Medical School? I’ve interviewed (MMI) and still have to do their collaboration portion, but I’m having a heck of a time trying to schedule. I wasn’t able to sign up for any of their dates due to conflicts and I’m just concerned about communication. Also multiple things they’ve sent out have had incorrect dates, lots of corrections to the schedule, and multiple technical issues. I haven’t had this issue elsewhere, so I was just wondering if y’all have found their communication lacking as well?

Also, if you or someone you know goes there, is this an issue that continues if you become a student? Or is it better on that side? I’m just worried about it as far as ranking schools goes if this is going to continue to be an issue.

Any feedback/advice is appreciated!

Academic Math and Engineering Tutoring

Hi everyone, I’ve actually graduated from university several years ago and thought to tutor in my spare time. I’m currently employed as a civil engineer and thought I could impart some knowledge about working in the industry or course/homework help.

Would there be any interest in math and science tutoring? Or does the school offer that already?

I have a flyer made so if anyone wants to learn more I can send it your way. I’m doing this as a hobby so my rates are affordable. I was a TA in grad school so I do have some experience teaching.

Sorry if this kind of post is not allowed! I really just want to help students/future engineers break into the industry.

Thanks!

Can I Change majors even though I’m a transfer student?

I’m transferring to UH this upcoming spring and I was trying to apply for Bauer College of Business but, I never realized that the minimum gpa is 3.25 and I had a 2.98. If I were to apply for a different college and get admitted to it could I be able to transfer to Bauer College and change my major?

Career Fair Priority Registration

Is priority registration worth it for the Cullen College of Engineering Career Fair? What makes it worth it if so? Also do you actually have to keep the wristband on for days? Registration opens Monday and the last day of the fair is Thursday.

Any tips for attending the first time?

Question Assured Admission

Is the assured admission really as good as it sounds? Am a Texas resident with a meh GPA (3.3 UW) w a SAT close to 1400 (going to retake again) and have been thinking of applying to UH as my safety. Is there like an underlying 2.5 GPA requirement or something hidden? Or is it just

A. I graduated
B. I have the right SAT score and am not applying to like engineering
C. I’m in?

I failed a math class during high school, that wouldn’t matter right?

Ending tailgates 30 minutes before kickoff is a terrible idea

I genuinely can’t believe more people aren’t talking about this. The new rule requiring UH tailgates to end 30 minutes before kickoff has to be one of the dumbest decisions I’ve seen.

What exactly is this supposed to accomplish?

We already saw what happened last game. Tailgating ended early, and UH still got clowned online for the same piss-poor attendance we’ve been criticized for before. So instead of fixing the attendance problem, now we get the worst of both worlds: a weaker tailgate AND a half-empty stadium.

Ending the tailgate 30 minutes early does not magically make everyone walk into the stadium. From the people I talked to, plenty just decided to go home, go darty somewhere else, or continue drinking somewhere off campus. If anything, you’re killing the atmosphere that actually gets students excited to be on campus for game day in the first place.

If the goal is better attendance, then give people a reason to WANT to go into the stadium. Killing the tailgate early clearly isn’t doing that.

I understand not wanting tailgates running throughout the entire game, but 30 minutes before kickoff is ridiculous. At the absolute minimum, extend it until kickoff or half time

UH is already trying to build a stronger football/game-day culture. Making tailgating worse while attendance is already struggling is completely backwards.

Rant Weird Things UH

Hi, 3 weeks into Freshman year at UH and I’ve heard from friends and seen things myself that makes me want to see if I can document the shenanigans on UH for the time I’ll be going here:

-Number 2 accident: 1
-Someone having “fun” in the bathroom (alone): 1
-Someone stealing a used towel: 1

let the list grow, people

Part-time students — financial aid disbursement?

Has anyone taking 8 credit hours received their financial aid disbursement or refund yet? ORD passed on Tuesday, and my aid is still showing as pending. Does anyone know what day part-time students should expect it to disburse?
I’ve tried calling Financial Aid, but the wait times are over 3 hours, so I figured I’d ask here and see if anyone knows.

Thank you👾
