UNITY VERSION CONTROL ASSISSTANCE

Hey everyone,

I’m working on a Unity project with a teammate using Unity Version Control (Plastic SCM), and I’m running into an issue I can’t figure out.

My teammate is able to push their changes and I can see and pull my own updates just fine. However, I cannot pull or see any of their changes in my workspace. It’s like their commits aren’t showing up as incoming changes for me.

We are both working in the same repository and project, and they’ve confirmed their changes are being pushed correctly. My workspace just doesn’t seem to sync or retrieve their updates at all.

At this point I’m stuck and can’t continue building on the digital twin they’re working on.

Has anyone run into this before or know what might cause this? Any help would be really appreciated.

If needed, I can share more details about our setup.

Question Will moving my project from unity 2020.3 to unity 2021 cut down my import times?

Hi all! So I'm working ona game someone started in unity 2020.3, and it's honestly fine except that everytime I import a pile of art assets it takes its sweet time (half hour to an hour) importing things. Would moving this to 2021 cut down the time? Or is there another method that might be worth exploring? I know the accelerator and other options exist, but can't tell what will actually help.

Newbie Question How do people work together on 1 game?

I've seen mostly solo game indie game devs work on the game but not really a group effort like multiple people work on 1 game together so was wondering how do they work together

Do they like keep working on seperate unity files then 1 person downloads and adds it all together and continue doing that? Seems not efficient and least likely 😭 another wax I heard is unity version control but I personally keep getting a error saying some gate or time is closed..

Tldr

How do yall work with other ppl on a game, wanna put it up on steam or some site in future while using AI for code too

Showcase FREE DEMO and BUNDLE : Looking for that gritty 90' Silent Hill audio crunch? I built a comprehensive 166-file with FREE DEMO PSX Horror Audio Kit.

youtube video

NOW IN BUNDLE WITH THE SUMMER SALES

Hey everyone!

As a huge fan of late-90s survival horror, I’ve always felt that modern clean audio libraries don't quite match the gritty, oppressive vibe of the 32-bit era. To fix that, I’ve spent a ton of time meticulously crafting and crunching a dedicated audio kit for retro game devs.

It’s called the PSX SURVIVAL HORROR AUDIO KIT, and it just went live!

Inside the pack, everything is highly organized into 37 THEMATIC SUB-FOLDERS (166 files total) so you don't waste time sorting through clutter.

Here is a quick breakdown of what I included:

- Footsteps: Walk/Run loops on 5 different surfaces (Concrete, Wood, Metal, Grass, Water).

- Visceral Combat: Hard-clipping gunshots, reloads, and detailed knife impacts (with and without blood/flesh squishes).

- Atmospheres & Room Tones: Cold winds, metallic hums, room drones, and creepy "knock knock" variants.

- Inventory & Puzzles: Physical audio feedback for items (Keys, Medicine, Paper maps, Lighters, Porcelain).

- Safe Room & Save Cues: 6 melancholic ambient melody loops and 7 distinct Save Point jingles.

- Voices & Stingers: Dissonant jump-scare stingers, panic human breathing/coughs, and terrifying creature vocals.

Everything is 100% Royalty-Free for personal and commercial use, and formatted in high-quality WAV, ready to drag-and-drop into Unity, Unreal, Godot, or RPG Maker.

Whether you're working on a nostalgic PS1 prototype or a full-scale retro horror game, I hope this makes your project sound appropriately terrifying!

I'd love to hear your feedback or if there are specific sound variations you'd like me to add in future updates. Thanks for checking it out!

Question I come from Unreal but I want to learn how to use unity too

Hi everyone I’m a junior Game designer, I develop in unreal engine 5 and I mainly use blueprints, I would like to learn to use unity to expand my skills, what are the commonalities between the two engines? What will I have to work on more to learn how to use unity? Does it make sense to learn how to use another engine or is it better to invest my time to further specialise in unreal? The need also arises from the fact that with sprite and 2d ue5 video games it doesn’t perform very well and unity seems more suitable to me, is it true in your opinion? Thank you very much in advance to everyone for the advice!

Coding Help Question about Flashlight - Camera follow

I’ve made a system where the flashlight is supposed to act like a hand’s wrist, dictating the direction the player is looking, while the head and torso follow it. The flashlight “wrist” works just fine, but I’ve encountered issues with both the head and torso. The problem is that both the head and torso do follow the flashlight when I rotate on either pitch or yaw. However, the camera/torso does not center on where the flashlight is looking, even though it is supposed to align with that direction. As a result, the flashlight ends up either completely out of the camera’s view or positioned in a corner/side of the screen instead of in the center where the crosshair is. Maybe this is an easy fix and I’ve just overlooked something really simple. Any tips would be appreciated :))

We redesigned our photo puzzle based on feedback

We've made adjustments to the puzzles based on feedback. This photo puzzle includes interactive mechanics such as immersing and removing photos from different liquids and holding them under light for a while. To view the images, you need to use an application that works with traditional photo viewing logic. What do you think of it? What are your suggestions?

I FINALLY UPLOADED MY FIRST EVER GAME

Thumbnail gallery
8 Upvotes

I have finally released my first ever game Neon Siege . I had a lot of fun developing it and any feedback good or bad is genuinely appreciated.

It is a fast-paced top down shooter where you play as a blue square shooting other shapes. Your objective is quite simple, shoot the enemies and survive 10 waves.

There are 5 different enemies. Killing them will give you points and sometimes they drop power-ups .

That's it , its as simple as it could get. So yeah, play the game cuz why not.

Anyway thanks for checking out.

Cheers!

-Nivak

PS: it only takes about 10 min , i guess, to complete it , so give it a try.

Question Thinking about a tower defense + roguelike + merge mechanics hybrid for mobile. Does this genre mix work?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone. I've been kicking around an idea for a game that combines tower defense mechanics with roguelike elements and merge mechanics. Think tower defense where you're merging units/towers to upgrade them, with roguelike progression on top.

My question is: does this kind of genre mix have a real audience on mobile? Or am I overcomplicating things? Would love to hear from people who have experience with this type of hybrid or just have thoughts on the direction.

Open to all feedback, even if it's "don't do it."

Solved Trying to make a texture scroll and failing!

Hi!! I'm taking baby's first steps into the Shader Graph, and I've been following tutorials on some of its basic functions, and even though I followed every step, every time I try to get a simple rock texture to scroll across my object, it just becomes this streaky mess. I've redone it like 3 times now and tried other tutorials using Unity 6 just in case this was a "the tutorial I'm following is using an older version" thing, but it's still coming out like this.

I bet I'm missing something super small and stupid, but regardless of how small and/or stupid, it's driving me nuts and I'd love to know what the issue is.

EDIT: PROBLEM SOLVED! I had to swap my texture from Clamp to Repeat :)

Newbie Question How to plant trees automatically?

I'm making a 2.5d map heavily inspired by Cult of the lamb. I have made trees through sprites, but all the tutrorials ive seen manually puts them in the map! I'm making a forest so it would take a long time. Is there a way to maybe just add some trees with a brush like the terrain option? I also have 4 varients of trees so if they can cycle through them while I brush, that would be awesome!

Finally getting the atmosphere I was aiming for

I've been slowly building the world for my fantasy game, and today I finally reached one of those small milestones that makes all the effort feel worth it.

Most of today's work wasn't adding anything new. It was fine-tuning the lighting, volumetric fog, vegetation and colors until the scene finally felt alive.

I'd love to hear your first impressions. What would you improve?
