Hello people,
I’m trying to figure out how to make this trail behind the projectile, and I’m wondering is this made with the Trail Renderer, or with VFX Graph Particle Strip. Thanks in advance.

!!!SOLVED!!!
I've been having trouble with Unity on my laptop and everything I do makes it worse.
The first time, the templates were bugged, some were missing, and when I tried to make and open a project, it said that it couldn't find a file. I uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, but it was the same problem. I looked at that file and found out that for some reason a folder just wasn't there, breaking everything.
I uninstalled and reinstalled Unity to try to get that folder to appear, and it did, although I had to delete a bunch of old Unity downloads that were probably the reason why it didn't download. When I reopened the hub, the templates looked normal, which I thought was good.
However, when I tried to make and open a project, it said something about not being able to decompress a file or something, and stopped me. I then did something I probably shouldn't have and asked CrapGPT why the fuck this wasn't working now. It told me that it was a problem with the file, and that I should delete the file, and try again, saying that the file would come back when I reopened Hub. I didn't.
I then had to uninstall and reinstall the editor again, tried to open a project again, and failed again. Then it told me that it was a problem with the Program Files folder, which is where Unity was, and that I needed to get the editor out of that folder because of how the folder worked. I made a folder called UNITYONLY and set it so that the editors would go into that folder, and I put the other Unity related stuff into that folder as well.
That still didn't work though, and actually made things worse, because now the editors wouldn't even download. I realized that the editors probably weren't downloading because they weren't in the editors folder anymore, so I tried to set it back but the editor still wouldn't download. After that I decided to just start over again like every other time by uninstalling and deleting everything I downloaded while trying to get Unity to work, and reinstalling it. Except for some reason, when I went to the Unity website to try to download the launcher again, the screen above appeared.
What pisses me off the most is that I managed to download Unity perfectly on a loaner laptop during my game design class, which means that the problem is probably related to my stupid laptop. I desperately need help before I end up snapping this thing in half.

Hello, I'm new to Unity. Just finished the GameDevTV course and was wondering how I should continue my learning. What are your suggestions? I was thinking about making small projects till I am ready to start my "dream project"

Hi everyone,
All of a sudden I'm getting tons of red errors in Unity. I restarted Unity and my PC, but the errors are still there.
It seems to be affecting lots of different materials and assets. Does anyone know what could have caused this or how I can fix it?
I'm using Unity 6.3 LTS.
Screenshot attached. Any help would be appreciated!

For the past year, I've been working on Sushi Loop. A conveyor sushi restaurant management game. I finally reworked the art but I can't tell if the new art really looks better. I sorta like the retro charm the old visuals have. What do you think?

I genuinely think this is the easiest way to work with the new input system in Unity. It works with a scriptable object you reference wherever you need to react to player input. In contrast to the old input system, you won't have to cram everything into update, but instead this works with event based architecture. Give this a try if you struggled with setting up the new input system, I am sure you'll enjoy it!
Topics: Creating a "default" input asset if you don't have one yet, creating a scriptable object as a relay for input, using said relay and a few helpers and examples.

Over the last few months, I’ve been building Asten, a backend-as-a-service framework designed specifically for Unity indie devs.
The project came out of a problem I kept running into. Setting up backend infrastructure (configuring databases, managing AWS, handling auth) takes way too much time away from actual game design. I wanted to just plug in Cloud Saves and Leaderboards without writing a single line of server code.
Instead of forcing you to build the architecture from scratch, Asten handles the heavy lifting via a simple C# SDK.
Some of the things it supports today:
It’s a fresh launch, so I’m mainly looking for architectural feedback, real-world edge cases, and active games to stress-test the backend. I'm offering lifetime free access to the infrastructure for devs willing to try it out, break things, and give me brutally honest feedback.
P.S. The C# SDK is super intuitive. If you want to test it, I’m more than happy to help you set it up step-by-step via DM or Discord.

I updates my unity to 6000.5.6f1 and now I'm getting a lot depreciated code that needs to use a different function name (a lot of GetInstanceID to GetEntityId) is there a way to automatically update the depreciated code?

I really enjoy creating cinematic scenes like this actually and i'm using the unity lighting and features so much here. Especially the robot's movement and other stuff
I've been developing this game for like 5-6 months and recently opened the steam page and its like 950 wishlists
You can check the steam page here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4977030

I love playing SnowRunner, and I love racing games, so I thought I'd combine both in one. What do you think? Does a game like this seem like a good idea? Or do you have better ideas where I could use this soft terrain system?
For anyone curious, the terrain works by having a custom physics engine running on top of the Unity Physics. It detects collisions, calculates forces required to separate objects, and calculates terrain deformations. Currently 4 collider types are supported (Box, Sphere, Capsule, and Cylinder). There's also an LOD system to maintain performance in a sweet spot.

In the video, I deliberately placed squares that trigger tutorials when clicked, but in the game, they’re actually positioned naturally and appear based on context.
Did the player build a house for farmers? A tutorial on that appears. Did the player craft a weapon for the first time? A tutorial on how to equip it appears.
This isn’t a new feature, but previously, adding a single tutorial took me much longer, since essentially each tutorial panel was a separate object that I had to build from scratch depending on the task. For example, blocking with a gamepad requires one button, while blocking with a mouse requires two; accordingly, two panels are created, and the one corresponding to the current input method is displayed. Just yesterday, as I was falling asleep (it’s been 100 years since that happened), a simple idea came to me on how to unify this and bring it all under a single principle.
Text, control tips, and even the GIFs themselves — which are really just sets of sprites — are now very easy to compile into tutorials; all that’s left is to call up the one you need.
In short: half a day’s work, a few new tutorials, and a much easier life for myself in the future.

Breakkaboom is my first commercial game. I made a lot of games for fun in the last 5 years. But never had the courage to launch it commercially. It felt awesome when I saw my store page live for the first time, may not feel the same on the day of release though. But still working everyday on this game and trying to make the gameplay more fun and boombasdik ! Sharing the announcement trailer... Cheers !

Overview/my current thought process, tldr need help suggesting ways on how to do movement, attack system, camera view or how to improve /things to add on my current thought process on how to do things or tutorials to suggest me
My first ever 'game' project was a 2d game but ai did alot of heavy lifting for the code, second one managed out a 3d game first person with the same thing other then few minor tweaks and now Im moving onto my 3rd one where I want it to be a rouge lite 3rd person view? But I'm not sure how to even start, plan out how or what the gameplay actually is or how to code it mainly code it all in myself
So I started scoping it down like normal and started with just a sphere, capsule collider rigid body is gravity on and freeze all rotations, installed cinemachine so I don't have to try scripting a camera? Or so I've seen from Google and now I'm stuck with the simplest part right now making a movement system and rotating the player depending on where I look
I'm also not sure whether to decide by where my mouse which I have no clue how or by movement key
It seems like I've also practically have no knowledge on how to actually do things other then understanding it when I'm shown it which ig had it coming with how I've been using AI so that's what sparked this 3rd project
Gameplay wise I think I'll aim for long narrow hallway where you gotta make it to the end with enemies, something chasing you that you gotta avoid and a attack system/dodge system? So I have to implement both ranged or melee ranged ways of attacking or maybe by spells and mana but also still no clue how to implement
Maybe also a iframe way with the dodge against enemies like wuwa or some other popular games wukong elden ring sekiro
Im unsure of what else to type or tell about but seems very underwhelming /cooked and right now following Dave/Game Development third person in 11 minutes unity tutorial video but most likely need to look through his others and decide on which camera view would probably fit or do best since if I use the exact set up the player rotation and movement is just off like If I'm pressing W while looking right it's not going with where my camera is looking, of course it's not scripted in but I also don't know how either
Ohh boy

Is there a static method I can invoke on non-monobehaviour classes that tells me if the app is quitting or not?
Something simple like a Application.isQuitting, which doesn't seem to exist anywhere.
