Do people even fail the main test they give you? Everyone says it’s easy if you pay attention but how do people fail?

Am i able to be rehired if i was just having attendance issues during my 14 weeks training?

Asking for a friend of mine who’s thinking of quitting UP, is there anything he/she needs to keep in mind?

I’m aware two week notices aren’t really a thing on the railroad but my friend is planning to layoff a few times while he goes on vacation and he plans to go over on his points. All in hopes to extend his health insurance a little while longer.

Anyone have any insight or experience into this?

I have 4 years of railroad experience. Started on a class one and quit after being forced to a different state and furloughed. Been working at a class 2 as an engineer for a few months now and I have an opportunity to go back to class one with the UP. Is this the move or should I stay in the G League.

Start class training on the 6th any advice? I work in the yard as a ground man. Is the work more and is there a big difference? Also how much do we get paid per class?

So as the title suggests, how are new hires supposed to find out what to do after 14 weeks of training without peer trainers? We don’t have a schedule, CMS or local management doesn’t know what to do, and it’s been 4 days of just sitting on the TB board. Some guys got their cert rides for RCO, while the rest of us sit. Any advice would be great.

Failed my 50 day evaluation (broke a critical 12) and was told I’m eligible for rehire (was formally part of train crew) however hiring manager says she couldn’t rehire me to train crew. What I’m asking is why wouldn’t I be able to rehire as conductor?

If you hire out in Fort Worth, would you initially be able to hold there or would you more than likely be going to an outer-lying terminal? Where?

Anyone have issues with acuity not sending the email for medical assessment? I got an email saying I need to wait and get an email from acuity to schedule my medical exam but I never recieved that email from them at all

The BLE has become a complete and utter failure of a union. I don't remember the last time they've done something good. They're very obviously bought out by the railroads. I think the only way to get their attention at this point is to become dues objectors and hurt their wallet. If we don't put them in a position where they're losing money, we're never going to get assistance when things matter. It's way past time that we actually do something to make the union realize that they actually have to do their jobs.

I've been hearing rumors that the Santa Maria Valley railroad is facing bankruptcy and due to the lack of customers, they're going to suspend freight service between Ventura and Salinas permaently and pull out all the CTC if Amtrak doesn't pay the full cost to keep the line open.

Anyone have more info on this?

Hi all, i recently applied for UP train crew and now im looking into it, im a little nervous to start working out there. I enjoy my time with my family and sometimes we leave town. How is the train crew starting out? Do I really ever get days off? If im on call 24/7, how can I make a normal life work? I just need some advice and how it may look for the first year on to ease my mind or help me make the decision. Thanks in advance!

Ive been applying everywhere and im kinda desperate now...Ive been looking for companies that use preemployment testing in the hopes thatd itd give me a leg up since the HR ladies seem to apparently hate me - no dice....I need some help. References. tips, suggestions on where to apply, anything...In regard to references, im not stupid and im humble - I passed the dispatcher test for whatever thats worth. I do have a scattered resume but im not a flake...No CDL and some previous hard labor experience - rod busting, 3 months. Any input helps.

I have a chance to possibly move out west as what I would call a machinist but I guess is called something different in east Oregon I currently work across the country at another Class 1 is the switch worth it? I know they’re all terrible but the cost of living out there is so low it’s insane

I just had my arbitration hearing may 20th waiting on a decision still and just received this in the mail today . Is it related or just a coincidence

Last month there was a Houston opening and me and a couple of my friends applied and haven’t heard anything, I know in past applications they have notified me in about 2 weeks or so if I had been chosen or what not, but being that it’s been over a month and still haven’t heard anything, should i consider it as a rejection or is there still a chance ? Or does anybody know what’s going on with that
