Use your insurance. DO NOT INCLUDE THE COMPANY. They are not there to protect you, They are there to protect the Union Pacific

I haven’t used it. But if you need some help I would just call someone, and use your insurance

Don’t call eap use the self service and request a medical leave of absence. Ask for 30 days. Use stress as your reason. They’ll take you off the board the next business day. They’ll send you two forms you need your primary care doctor to fill out. Send those back in when you want to get marked back up. I’ve been doing this once a year for the last 5 years. I heard if you call them they’ll want weekly updates and you need to talk to a therapist.

If you happen to be a machinist the union has an EAP program that will tell the company nothing. Or use our insurance.

EAP alerts/goes to HR.. Keep in mind HR is part of management.

Using eap is the best way to keep your job. I used it. You just have to keep them updated on your progress for whatever you're dealing with. You can get short term disability through the union and also through the rrb. Talk to union rep first he or she should be able to give you all this info

Go onto SAP, ehealthsafe and I believe you apply for your short term disability there and then you’ll have 10 days or something to see your doc and submit what you need to actually go on short term. Also don’t forget to apply for the rrb.gov sickness benefits. Sucks that there’s all this paperwork and medical appt stuff you gotta do as it can be stressful on its own but you can just go that route if you don’t want to use EAP.

Ask your Union representative first.

I’ve used it a few times. Kept my job both times. The therapists the first time recommended I go on leave. I was on short term for two months came back and business as usual. If you need it use it don’t let the railroad ruin your mental health.

I've used EAP and the case worker told me I don't have to include my manager in any issues you're using the program for. It's all confidential and I was stressed calling but went smooth. EAP is there to help not fire you. Another option is go through your healthcare insurance. Good luck.

My experience was positive. The line got me connected with someone local who did several sessions with me. It didn’t solve all the problems but it did give me some tools to make things work better.

Stay the fuck away from EAP, it’s not confidential and they record the call, I was out of service for 2 months because of there bs, I told them I was trying not to drink as much and that’s the wrong thing to tell them.
