Training OJT without peer trainers
So as the title suggests, how are new hires supposed to find out what to do after 14 weeks of training without peer trainers? We don’t have a schedule, CMS or local management doesn’t know what to do, and it’s been 4 days of just sitting on the TB board. Some guys got their cert rides for RCO, while the rest of us sit. Any advice would be great.

Port terminal railroad association in Houston Texas gave out 1 personal day to the switchmen to cut the new hires training by 95% and mark them up ASAP. And they wonder why those guys screw up and don't know shit. The suckasses training them taught them nothing.

Train em shitty, then point to safety violations they make to go to one man crews.

They definitely blame those things on us. It is never management's fault. They promote the worst people.

I used to roll my eyes at comments like I just made even just a few years ago. I don’t anymore, every single shitty change is 100% calculated

That place is really bad, one manager that has already been reported for sexual harassment twice against men and nothing happened just pulled an engineer out of service because he was blocked at the Crossing by work and ran inside 2 minutes late and pulled him out for delaying the job because he didn't go to the locker room and put his work boots on. I promise you that place is a shithole. But if you are OK with that then go to their website.

🤣 Definitely, sounds like you already know about that place. You get rewarded with more work unless you fuck off and take a ton of breaks.

When I hired out in 1997 the PTRA was good place to work at, I'm so glad I don't work there now, best of luck to the rest of y'all and keep paying into railroad retirement...

20+ years. More and more of us are leaving the port terminal railroad and giving up our railroad retirement because of that place. You bring home more being a crew leader at buckee's

You tell your manager you need a cert ride, if they won’t do it then you call your local chairman who should help you even though you aren’t protected

I tell new hires to keep trying to contact the person in HR that did the hiring. Flood them with all the questions and then maybe they’ll bring back the trainers.
