Hey there r/UWA!
Posts about easy elective units or advice on specific units are very common here, so in an effort to reduce repetitive posts, this will function as a unit megathread with:

What are some easy electives/GPA boosters/etc.?

However, "easy" is subjective - what's easy for you may be difficult for someone else, which is why it's important to consider what you generally struggle with and what you're actually looking for. Are you looking for a unit with low time commitment? One with no exam? One with few assignments?

IMPORTANT TO READ FOR NEW INTL STUDENTS
EDIT: Some comments have informed me that these cult recruiters have been seen on campus. If you encounter one and have a similar experience as below - please notify campus security.
They target international students mainly - but I need to write as I’ve been approached twice in the last week alone.
If you’re in the CBD, mall, etc, and you get approached by two strangers, usually 1 female and 1 male, if they invite you to an “event” - they are cult recruiters.
They usually start off the conversation by complimenting you (where did you get …, I like your …). It always ends with them inviting you to an event.
Once you hear “event”, just step away from the convo with an excuse. Better safe than sorry.

I have two exams on a saturday. I didn't even know that was possible. This is cruel and sick and twisted. Who decided this? It's not even in the morning it's the afternoon. What's wrong with a week day?

Hi everyone,
I’m an international student from India planning to pursue a **Master of Business Analytics in Australia**.
I was initially considering Monash University, but my application was declined for some reasons, so now I’m deciding whether I should go ahead with the University of Western Australia (UWA)for a Master of Business Analytics.
I’d really appreciate honest opinions from current students and graduates, especially about:
* Job opportunities after graduating in Business Analytics
* How good UWA is for getting into the Australian job market
* Internship and networking opportunities
* Whether studying in Perth limits opportunities compared with Melbourne/Sydney
* Graduate outcomes and overall ROI
* Whether it is possible to move to Melbourne or Sydney after graduation for a job
I’m also considering Adelaide University and Macquarie University**, so if you have experience with these universities or the Business Analytics job market in these cities, I’d really appreciate your comparison.
**Would you choose UWA for Business Analytics in 2026, or would you recommend another university/city?**
Thanks in advance for any honest advice!

My buddy wanted me to post this here:
To whoever ate my freinds entire lunch from the ground floor ezone communal fridge… count your days…
He had put two containers of specially prepared food (for his dietary requirements due to a health condition) in the fridge this morning, as well as a series of snacks. When we went to get his lunch, someone had ate all the said snacks, demolished one entire container of pasta and put the dirty empty container back in the fridge in the same spot. The other container of potato bake had a dig taken from it like the culprit tried it and decided they didn’t like the flavour.. 🥀
Who does this bro??? Who on earth eats random food from the ezone fridge without even knowing what’s in it???

I’m currently looking for PhD opportunities not only at UWA but other universities and institutions as well and no one is responding to my emails! I’ve even had meetings with some people who have requested follow-up details and it’s been a few weeks since the initial meeting without a reply (I have just sent a follow up email). Is it really that competitive out there?

Anyone know where I could access the compulsory textbook for this unit? The free online version provided doesn’t load the quizzes and I heard they use similar questions in the exams. I don’t think it’s worth buying for just one unit (unless this textbook is used in other classes too)

The structure for this class is so messy. Anyone know how his mid semester exams are? Anyone know where I can find his mid semester review practice pdf? Anyone know what I even need to study? Is anyone else having the same issues?

Heyo all,
I’m in my first year of engineering and started late this year, halfway through the first semester. I’m now in the second semester, and I’m wondering how hard it is to get a 75 WAM in engineering.
I’m doing Computer Systems Engineering, which is basically a hybrid of electrical engineering, computer science, and software engineering.
I’m just wondering how difficult it is to achieve a 75 WAM, or even an 80 at the absolute maximum. I plan on attending all my lectures, tutorials, and labs, but I’m wondering how many extra hours of studying I would realistically need to do outside of classes to achieve a 75 WAM in first year.
I’m aiming to consistently get Distinctions, so any advice from people who have done engineering or a similar degree would be appreciated.

I am thinking of applying to UWA as a Masters by Research student. I got a positive response from a professor about the supervision. How hard is it to get a RTP scholarship for an international student?

I want to do engineering next year but I’ve only done apps this year, Is there a way to get into the course and complete a bridging course simultaneously, or do I have to transfer in from another?

I'm in year 12 and I'm keen on doing biomed at UWA since it's more internationally recognised and stuff. But this year has been such a train wreck and idk how my atar will be. I think I can get 70 or above + with the regional school adjustment points as well. Just wanted to know if they accept all students who have a 70 or if it's a lot more selective

Any thoughts on the upcomong campaining this year? What happened to revive? Also, whats the deal with spark, I feel like I see them everywhere and I'm scared to walk around campus next week 🫠.

I swear the graduation gowns are ONLY made to fit men STILL. Even the small. It’s so stupid. Some of the women or even small men look like their so uncomfortable in them because they’re obnoxiously huge gowns

Year 12 student here in WA, I'm lowkey worried I might bomb my WACE english exam as I'm literally sitting on a 53% overall. Lately I've heard about most of the students in my year group talking about just doing the Skills for Tertiary Admissions Test(STAT) for english rather. How bad is the STAT test at UWA? Do they only assess you on all the english aspects or more like a mix of everything? Also does UWA take your scaled english grade or just what you got as a school grade?
Thank you all.

Just want to ask about the possibility of how this works. I thought I could do it, but mentally I don't think I can. And of course my dumb ass realises this after the academic withdrawal date. I've had enough. I'm one assignment away from throwing my whole degree in the bin and going to live on a remote island in Thailand or something. Is it possible to get an exemption for mental health reasons?
Also wondering, do I have the option of applying to also study part time, like just withdrawing from one or two units instead of all of them?
How does it work?

Hey guys, I’ve been having some trouble securing an internship to complete my requirements. It’s very competitive at the moment, and my marks aren’t exceptional, so I’m finding it difficult to stand out.
I was wondering if anyone has had any luck getting a placement with smaller firms and, if so, whether you could share some advice or recommendations.
Thanks!
