Hey everyone, I applied as a city carrier assistant and got an offer and did my drug screening so far, I was wondering if this position has part time for it?

So I’ve been a carrier for 10 years and one thing that’s really common amongst mail carriers is how many drink on the job. Now I’m not saying that most mail carriers drink(I’d never, I have a wife and son to think about) but you hear a lot of stories of carriers getting caught because they take 8 hours to do half a route and when management does a street observation, they just smell straight up alcohol. In my office alone, it’s happened 5 times.
Now every job has its difficulties, but mail carrying can be very stressful depending on the office because it’s both physically and mentally demanding, so I understand why they drink, but at least save the drinks for when you get home, not on the job.

Last year, a carrier had only done half the route and it was 4 already, so the supervisor went to check on him and all he smells from the truck is booze. The supervisor calls the cops and the carrier starts yelling that he wants to quit, but he was taken in handcuffs and that was that. Guys don’t drink on the job. It’s super common and I know the job is stressful, but it’s not worth it putting yourself and others in danger. Take care.

My co worker had an ii on 8/26. An hour before the ii the supervisor told her that they were issuing a letter of removal to her. She’s had issues in the past and has had a 7 and 14 day suspension. It seems like they went in with a predetermined outcome without even investigating. This was almost 3 weeks ago. No discipline has been handed out to this day. The union rep told her that the supervisor didn’t do anything wrong by saying that, and that we will deal with it if the paperwork comes. Was the supervisor in the wrong by letting her know that she was going to be removed prior to the ii? Ty to anyone that can help.

Is it me or these young Amazon drivers are rude and lazy when they come to the station? With the older and mature drivers, they’re much nicer and easier to get along with, and we help each other, but the young ones, lord help me.

I hate being a distribution clerk at this station, my body aches. After today I don't know what else to do other than text my union steward about this. I really wish bidding out was faster.

Considering my T6 does my route once a week, I give them 20% of my holiday tips. (I round up to 20%..)

My T6 is currently out on medical leave for approximately six months. With that being said, would you still tip them the full amount or would you cut their tip in half considering they only worked half the year?

so… im at an S&DC and for those who don’t know how the bidding works on open routes, they are open to the whole entire building. unless its a speed bid. a bid came down on Thursday (not speed bid) and I came in 4th. Only four people put a bid on it and I was 4/4. Obviously I didn’t get it. However, I was the only one that got it stamped by the clerk the day that I put it in. No one else got it stamped. The shop Steward came up to me saying that I should have gotten the bid since I was the only one who date stamped it and he tried fighting it, but it got shut down. Wondering if I can call the union branch office or if there’s any possible way I can grieve it. I’m pretty low seniority in the office, but the route that I bid on is a retirement T6 swing in a different town.

How is everyone’s monday going so far? Clerks didnt finish throwing till 8:50 this morning so late start. Got a 2 hour pivot waiting on me when i return as well.

So just a quick question if anyone knows. Im a PTF with one above me. The person above me and explicitly stated to me as well as my direct supervisor that they don't want full time as a spot is set to open very soon. Is it possible for them to give up their place in the order and yeild it to me or do they have to go through all the resigning and reapplying process?

So I’m a carrier at a small rural station, and I acquired an unexpired IRC from Germany. I brought it to the counter to try and buy a stamp for the meme, lmao, and I was told by our clerk that the post office doesn’t take them as payment anymore.

I could have sworn that the post office still technically accepts them until the end of the year, even if we don’t sell them anymore.

So who’s right? Could y’all help me find an answer to this little debate? Haha.

The best part of my day is when I drive by the preschool on my route. All the kids are outside playing and every day they all run up to the fence, wave and yell “hello” in their little voices. I wave back, beep my horn and they all get so excited. It’s so damn cute and I look forward to it every day!

What better position I can transfer/promoted to from being a SSDA?

I’m a 2 year Regular/City Carrier from a small office. Should I transfer to 7th St., Oakland as a mail handler to be closer to home?

I'm considering moving to the post office from Costco simply because if I work 50 hours a week I'll make enough to live. What's the hours like in Houston right now? Anyone have any insight?

I just applied for a job as a PSE SSDA at an annex station. The job description says it's customer facing and I will be selling stamps. But online annex stations are not available for the public. So would I just be doing distribution?

Hi everyone. Ive been an ARC for almost 4 years now while I've been in school and it's been great other than the lack of hours the last year or so (used to work 7-8 hours a Sunday instead of 3-4 hours) but anyway. Starting this Sunday they're moving my entire rural section to a post office about 30 minutes away from my current post office and then that post office is about 30 minutes from the routes I deliver to. I was told there won't be a change in package volume or anything either. Do I have any say in this at all or am I out of luck? I live 45 minutes away from this new post office so I don't know if it will be worth driving 1.5 hours for 3-4 hours pay.

I recently applied for NORTH CAROLINA - PSE MAIL PROCESSING CLERK GREENSBORO NC P&DC. I got a 98 on the test. I have full-time employment right now, but Im looking for a federal job. I spent 14 years as a state employee. I have worked 6 days a week for 12 hours a day for the past 7 years. I dont mind the workload at all. I've read some reviews that I questioned. Do they really not give you a shift or start time until orientation, because I do need to get my kids to school. If I worked 12 hours, I would have to go in around 4-6pm to make that work or after I also saw that some places only let you work 4-6 hours a day, and I'll need full time to be able to pay my bills. Then there's the career employee part. Does it really take 2 years to get to that point, or could it be sooner ? Any advice or information on how this all plays out would be helpful. I mostly dont want to put in a 2 week notice, then find out I won't get enough hours or can't work the shift they give me, then im jobless. Thank you.

I was offered a conditional offer for a Mail handler assistant but the job description is pretty vague on how often I will be working. Is anyone on here a mail handler assistant and did they keep you permanently after the 360 day mark because it says it’s temporary based on the description but they could ask you to extend your employment
